There’s been talk of Amorim possibly using him as a 9, which doesn’t surprise me—I had a feeling that might be the plan. If that’s the case, I think rotating him with Højlund between now and the summer should give Amorim enough time to evaluate whether the duo can be relied upon long-term or if further investment in that position will be necessary.

In my view, Højlund and Rashford share some similar traits, particularly their blistering pace and ability to run the channels effectively. However, both seem to struggle with their back-to-goal play, though I’d say Højlund is slightly better in that area. On the other hand, Højlund brings more intensity to his game, while Rashford, in my opinion, demonstrates greater intelligence in his movement.

As I mentioned, I believe they’ll both get their opportunities, but if neither delivers convincingly, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a new face brought in.

I hope he gets caf's permission before agreeing to party with friends on New Year's eve.

Did I imagine fans dragging the manager (whoever it was at the time) for playing him out of position as a number 9 and that being a reason why he wasn't performing? The sky would fall in, locusts would descend from the heavens and hell would freeze over unless Rashford was put back to his rightful place on the left.

Now they're floating the idea of him being a number 9 again?

In an alternate universe, Rashford realizes post back injury that he's not quite as quick and agile as he once was and instead dedicates himself fully to becoming a lethal striker. He has the traits and frame for it but basically 0 desire to play there and normally offers little more than running some channels when he is deployed there.

No you didn't imagine it. The goalposts keep moving when it comes to Rashford. Being an academy player and the poster boy of the club, probably clouds some of the fan views.
Many people have their version of "do this and unlock Rashford". It keeps changing depending on how badly he is playing in his current role.

He spent a good few years being absolute shit whenever played as a 9, however he actually did a decent job there in 22/23 the last time he got a run in that spot.

No idea if that was a one-off or if it's a sign that he might develop enough to do it more often in the future. I lean more towards the former, but if Amorim gives him an opportunity there then I guess we'll see.

The thing puzzling me the most is why does he need security and an entourage, entourage is that what used to be call friends and family?

Because he dresses like this in public

He should go to the MLS tbh. Still young but he can be another Juan Pablo Angel or Carlos Vela type player - a legacy player who just tears up their league, all while indulging in the cringe superstar culture they have there which he seems to enjoy.

If not getting an England call up when Palmer, Saka and Foden are all out injured is not a wake up call for him then nothing will ever will be. He needs to buck his ideas up.

How about putting the hours in on the training pitch rather than parading around New York looking like a complete fecking idiot?

Good to see he remains totally grounded.

A top Manchester lad....

This epitomises what's wrong with humanity in general.

He's being treated like he's a top celebrity and a world class player who's on his A-Game, having an entourage and security. The reality is, he's bang average who shouldn't even be playing for Manchester United. He doesn't even play for his country.

It's no wonder he strolls about the pitch thinking he's untouchable.

Wrong on so, so many levels.

Like it or not, he’s a top-tier celebrity, and he’s chosen to spend his money on an entourage and security. I’m not sure why that’s bothering so many people—he’s not causing any harm to anyone.

This is the moment to show your new manager you're like that. That your Man Utd career means something, from a PR aspect, being at an NBA game is just an opportunity for fans to shit on him cause I can't believe he's stupid enough not to anticipate it.
Can't wait for him to be sold.
If he was playing at the same level of his wages, I couldn't give a toss about how he spends his time.

How's the sports celebrity culture in the US uniquely different to the UK or Europe at large in your opinion?

It's far more of a circus there, especially in the LA/NYC/Miami scene.

The celebrity worship culture is hardly dignified in the UK but it's nothing compared to the US. It's hardly a surprise the Beckhams were lured to LA.

Is he a top tier celebrity in America?

Given Manchester United’s massive fan base in the USA and the fact that Rashford is one of our star players, I’d absolutely consider him a top-tier celebrity in the USA. But even if he weren’t, that’s beside the point. What matters is that it’s his money, and he’s entitled to spend it however he chooses.

No way in the world he's a top tier celebrity in the US ffs!

Considering that he chooses to be this stupid in public, it's only fair that United fans and the public in general can have an opinion of him that's not glowing.

Just because he was born in Manchester and joined United, doesn't mean we look the other way when he behaves like a cringe monster.

Someone complaining on a public forum is also not causing any harm to anyone.

Kindly explain how he was being 'stupid in public'?

He's not that anything wrong in that video, but it's embarrassing a player as average as him has the platform to prance around like that. The club has to take much of the blame for rewarding his poor performances and work ethic with huge sums of money. Indulging mediocrity has been a huge factor in our downfall

So, he needs to be world-class to carry himself the way he is? Let me tell you what's truly embarrassing—how some of you are getting so worked up over something so trivial.

He's not a top tier celebrity. Nobody in US knows who Rashford is, apart from a "soccer" watching minority.

I make one point, and some of you cling to it like your life depends on it. Try reading the rest of my post. The fact is, who cares whether he’s a top-tier celebrity? I certainly don’t. What I do know is that it’s his money, and he’s free to spend it however he wants.

I’d also argue that soccer has become incredibly popular in the U.S., but that’s a separate discussion and not really relevant.

I think it's more damning of society/ Utd, that you can be underwhelming at your job, and still be paid considerably more than your harder-working and more talented peers and still be treated like some sort of king. Appreciate what I described doesn't apply solely to Rashford, or footballers for that matter. However, as a Utd fan, having seen his work week in week out for several years, I can't help but feel the way I do.

There’s a reason Marcus Rashford earns significantly more than many of his peers. Yes, he goes through spells where his performance dips, but he’s still 15th on Manchester United’s all-time top goal-scorers list—a remarkable achievement. His current earnings reflect the success he’s built over the years. When others reach the milestones he has, there’s no doubt they’ll be rewarded just as handsomely.

I know you're being nice and I don't want to come in here and do the usual Rashford bashing but for me that's not as impressive when you also factor in that his goals per game ratio is 0.32. It puts him well below certain players who commanded similarly high wages during their time at the club and really deserved it (Van Persie 0.55, Ibra 0.55, Ronaldo 0.42, Rooney 0.45, Ruud 0.68).

The reality I think with Rashford is always going to be that he came through at a young age, was a fairly decent scorer, and massively benefitted from getting a big contract because we wanted him to be the poster boy for the club at him to stay during the time he was flirting with being Mbappe's replacement at PSG. It's largely all been downhill from there and his form over the past two years does make his wage look a little ridiculous regardless of that overall milestone of being our 15th top scorer ever (no shade about that; it's a nice accolade to have).

For comparison here's some players in the modern era with a higher goal per game ratio than Rashy.

Owen 0.33
Hojlund 0.33
Saha 0.34
Hernandez 0.38
Berbatov 0.38
Lukaku(!) 0.44

It seems a bit mad to me to think Hojlund is paid almost 4 times a week less than Rashford for nearly the exact same output right now.

Edit: Of course this isn't to say all our players are remunerated equal to their performances.

What the hell has him training back in the summer got to do with this?

I’d tolerate this bullshit if he was actually performing for us, but he’s not. He should be trying to save his United career rather than dressing like a fecking bellend in New York.

You’d tolerate it? Tough shit whether you do or don’t. Do you honestly think your opinion matters? It doesn't! Rashford clearly doesn’t give a damn what people think—and good for him.

He’s a footballer earning a lot of money, and he’s free to spend it however he chooses.

As for the idea that he should be “trying to save his career,” I’m still struggling to see how attending a basketball game interferes with that in any way.
