He's had numerous chances to do that

Not enough clearly. He deserves one more chance to prove he can deliver consistently (season after season) under another new manager.

Let’s just hope when Amorim gives him game time this season he will do well as that is the only way we find buyers for him.

But why are people angry about that when every second post is people saying that he’s not been good enough for years except for a purple patch?
Well I can't speak for everyone but it might be that people think he hasn't been good enough because he isn't trying hard enough

His purple patch was also in the 6 months prior to his previous contract expiring

I agree, I’m just saying the fan base (seemingly the majority) want rid but when he says he’ll leave for a new challenge they use that to get angry and abuse him more.

Wouldn't be surprised if he got some minutes and scored against Bournemouth, these types of players love the attention and drama, so you are bound to get effort for 30 minutes from him this weekend.

Because you dont go public full of your own self importance being a sideshow to the club. Then simultaneously say you are being the bigger man not holding a grudge, against the club that gave him fame/fortune beyond his wildest dreams and constantly backed him when he was shite.

Fantastic point. Seems to be that when he's under more pressure (due to his own contributions or lack thereof), the PR machine spins at NASA level velocities to make him look like he's just being misunderstood and/or scapegoated, or he's having a hard time.

I started following united as far back as I remember (even writing the players names and numbers on the back of my jammies, much to the discontentment of my mum lol) and I have never seen this level of drama. Sure, we had issues back in the day, like the Ronaldo transfer saga, Rooney handing in a transfer request, the infamous Beckham hairdryer (or boot) incident, but it wasn't like this.

Get him out ASAP. Let some other club deal with all these shenanigans. Let's get back to focusing on what happens on the pitch. That would be nice.

See this is just nonsense. If he scores for us he's just doing for attention and the drama. It's just ludicrous how he's treated by United fans

Yea he could easily have responded to the stuff about the club wanting rid of him by talking to the club to agree a move wpuld be best but not saying it publicly and by knuckling down to put himself in the shop window in the meantime.

 not sure I said that would be the ONLY reason?

But players with a huge ego love the drama, always have, he would 100% be more focused and determined to score and point to his head imo.

But 5-10 games later meh

100% - the whole "if you doubt me, better" doesn't seem like such a wise move now, does it?

And if he didn’t, and his work rate/form didn’t improve people would say he is just leeching the club for wages…

Sorry to break it to you..... but it's up to the manager. If he's fine with it then I'm fine with it.

Yeah, of course. I think Amorim is doing the best he can. He won't be able to shift him before January, and likely not then either. So he'll do whatever he can to motivate him. He tried, and lo and behold, Rashford went to a media friend and said he was ready to leave. That's how motivated he is. Remind you, he did work hard one match this season, at home to Brentford, which goes to show that he's capable but unwilling.

If Amorim gets a tune out of him this season, fantastic. It will make it easier to sell him in the summer and it'll improve our performances this season. But it seems Rashford is mentally checked out.

To me it feels like the point of no return is approaching fast. A few half motivated trainings or games or another PR stunt and he is out for good. And for all the right reasons

We should send him to Arsenal on loan till the end of the season. Its a bit messed up but helping them stop the scousers will be worth it and if he finds form then we can sell him for more.

Darren Lewis on Sky Sports News is currently doing a very good job at the moment of portraying Marcus as a victim in all this stating that he is unfairly treated by the masses, I wonder what the obvious reason behind that could be. Melissa Reddy on the other hand is arguing against that.

Skysports can just fugg off.
Nobody cares what they say

Rumors that he's not in the squad.

Reckon he's done if so. He will go the Sancho way. I hope we can atleast get him out in loan in January.

Oh I agree, just made me laugh all the excuses Lewis was happy to make as to why Marcus isn’t performing at the moment.. one of his reasons is because Harry Maguire has never been a £80m player.. whatever that has to do with things.

I don’t think he will play for United again. Whatever has happened (and it clearly isn’t Amorim just deciding he doesn’t want to pick him) it feels like it’s a terminal breakdown. Expect him to be out on loan in January and at Arsenal next season.

Maguire is actually a beacon. He's fought back and he's going well. Amorim seems to like him

I'm so ready for this soap opera to end. So much positive stuff going on, and this saga is grabbing all the attention.

Kind of wild that it’s really nearly over. Grand scheme he’s had a good enough career here, but in another life he went down as a top 3 all time scorer and appearance holder. Ah well

Not in the squad. Not injured but dropped for 3 games. This is over it seems. That interview really crossed a line with Amorim

Yeah he kind of sealed his own fate with that interview and PR stunt. Good on Amorim for taking such a firm stance and not giving over to such prima donna behavior.

I might not rate Maguire, but he's hasn't been selfish or lazy. He also might fit the current formation far better where his weaknesses are less exposed.

What did people expect really? He's saying that he wants to leave and have a fresh start out of nowhere during the season. Of course he's not going to play another minute until he's out.

It’s a pity but he’s played his last game out for the club.
It would be tragic if it’s Rashford making himself unavailable.

No surprises here. He cannot be selected again after the interview and rightly so. Hopefully he moves on next month, it will be best for all parties.

If true then he's done, whether he's disillusioned with football, burnt out, tired of the abuse, having a crisis, etc....

I've always said from the beginning, get off social.... Play your football and stop worrying about what people think of you. You will live and die by what you produce on the pitch for us., or at least that's how it should be.....

Thanks for the memories.

Dropped for the third consecutive game. Hopefully you're fine with it
Yup, I'm AmorIN

Maybe we will get lucky and he will decide to take a bigger pay day in Saudi Arabia and they buy him in January.

Yeah definitely not in the squad. It's over which is a shame as at 27 he should be at his peak being key player to us but obviously not happening. Out of last 4 seasons (including this one) he was great in 22/23 and not good enough in other 3. You could say he was better in his early 20s as we saw him as this player with big potential who's inconsistent but will reach his peak in future.

Losing an homegrown player is far from ideal though. Hopefully 1-2 more will be introduced to the team soon.
