Sums him up. Lots to admire but simply doesn't have the full package to be a main forward at a club this big

Watch some Henry vids and stop blasting everything Marcus.

Finishing needs to be better, but his play and composure has been back to his best. He is such a skillful player, the Championship shouts were so ridiculous.

His finishing aside I thought he was brilliant. He is so important for the team. Would just hope he startzed scoring again we all know he can.
Agreed, was actually really good tonight and he forces teams to defend differently given his pace. Won quite a few headers as well.

Still think he’s better LW with Martial central.

Great game, he just needs more composure in front of goal. But some of his runs, dribbles were great today really. It seems he's enjoying himself again.

He is back to trusting his instinct, rightly or wrongly on some occasions. Last year his confidence was rock bottom, when the ball came he was overthinking everything, almost to the point of paralysis in his game, panicking, allows defenders to dominate. Now back to being a huge problem for defenders.

Runs a lot, scares defenders, couldn't hit a barn door. Story of his career really. Has a place in our squad but we desperately need a real striker.

And that was one of the best defensive headers you'll ever see.

Pretty much. Still can be a very dangerous player but he's never going to have that extra level of composure or technique to really dominate as well as he could.

Which is okay! We just have to be willing to understand that as fans going forward when he skews chances wide.

And Ronaldo's last goal was a shot straight at the goalkeeper, which the keeper clumsily let through his legs. No-one was talking about bad finishing then. Rashford should have done better with the left-legged one. The two big chances he took on his right were perfectly decent finishes, and nobody would have said anything different if Lloris hadn't pulled off two outstanding saves.
Because missing chances is literally in Rashford's DNA. He's been missing these sorts of chances since forever.

Head down, shoot with power.

And if that doesn't work, do it another couple of times and hope for the best.

He created2/3 chances himself - that is why we need to get him back to left and get a centre forward in so he can create for them. Brilliant player, but did a great job in a role that is not his main one.

Criminal misses. We are so much better with Rashford in the team, but he needs to start putting away his chances.

Thought he was fantastic, and unlucky not to have scored. Of course should've finished better on the first especially, but the 2nd and 3rd were great saves. Whatever about his finishing though, as long as he plays like that, he'll be starting. Can't wait for Martial to actually be fit and stay fit too. Give Rashford that guy to play off of.

The 3rd was poor as Henry said. Place it in the corner don’t blast it near the middle. He needs to be clamer and smarter with his finishing. Instead of trying to blow a whole through the net

I mean, yeah it's poor for Henry but it wasn't a bad effort. Henry is a bit shit as a pundit. Remember seeing a video not too long ago where somebody called him out on his "expectations" because he was so damn good at everything, that for him it's "easy", whereas non-Henry players just can't do it the same way. Rashford struck it well and with loads of power, wasn't straight at the keeper, was a quick snap shot.. Just a very good save even if Rashford gave him a chance. It's not a bad finish though, just not a "great finish" either which Henry made a habit out of.

Deserved a goal tonight. His game just needs a touch of refinement, but the hunger looks back.

If I was a manager I'd actually start some sort of punishment system for him whenever he does his patented hit hard and hope shot.

It's the only shot he ever does and it's holding him back. If he just placed most of those shots he scores.

Clearly though he isn't able to learn to place it so he needs some negative reinforcement.

His lack of control is holding him back massively.

But on the Bright side their is a clear path to fixing it if he was to focus on the issue. It would really elevate him as a footballer

In a weird way I felt like he was actually really good today just terrible finishing. He should have a hatrick tonight but he just has this thing where he feels like he has to blast every ball. Just roll it in the corner and Loris has no chance.

The one where Fred played him through he has to be doing better there.

Needs to compose himself more with his finishing. He’s so much better on the left though, and we’ll go up a level or two once we can get him on the left and Martial through the middle with some consistency. Hopefully that doesn’t happen too late in the season for it to even matter.

I reckon ETH and the coaches will help him sort his finishing out. Remember how pep turned Sterling into a pretty good finisher? Arguably a harder achievement. I feel like the thing being glossed over is that more importantly he’s not giving the ball away 7 times out of ten. He’s also passing it when passing is the better option. This was a much bigger glitch than not quite clinical enough finishing. I wasn’t sure it was possible, seeing that improve can only give you hope that finishing is next on the menu.

It is for a striker playing for any PL UCL level club, to not see that the far corner is open and you only need to place the ball there.

Yep. The first two chances are understandable, but the third one he really should have done better. Henry's/Martial's classic curler inside the far post was the obvious finish there rather than pure power pretty much at the keeper.

Once he starts putting his chances away he’ll be on for another 20 goal season.

His finishing was really poor tonight but he did everything else extremely well. Keep playing like that and the rest will come.

Good to see him turning the corner.

Eh Sterling is better technically than Rashford. Generally think by this point Rashford just is who he is. Someone who will bag around 15 goals a season and create danger when fit, but should never be relied upon to give you more than that. He's just never shown that extra level of composure or technique to go to the next level and he's been starting for us for almost 7 years now.

Brilliant performance. Should’ve scored but good saves from Lloris tbh. Was energetic, pressing every fecking where. Haven’t seen that from Rashy in years.

Terrified one of the best organised defences in the league. Great range of passing - the through ball for Bruno was slick, just a shame he’d gone an inch or two offside. I don’t think he’s a centre forward but he’s doing a fantastic job of providing cover there.

Finishing wasn’t quite there and feels he needs a goal as he’s had some great chances the last few games. The first one was the worst miss - should have hit the corner there. Goals will come though if he keeps playing like this.

He has his form back, looking like the player of old..
Terry Henri half time and post match comments were fair though… a top striker has to use his brain sometimes to beat the keeper and not just blast it every time.

I dunno about that. I rate Sterling and he has better close control than Rashford. But Rashford is more explosive. Sterling was a comically bad finisher for a long time but people forget because he improved so much at city. He still has a five yard open goal miss in him on occasions mind.

Simply not a centre forward
Number of times our wingers were looking for someone to cross and had to come inside

he’s a good option to have against the top who will try and play football, but against the rest we need a proper centre forward

I thought he won his headers well and persisted throughout the game which was good to see. A better finisher probably scores a hat-trick though. Not sure why he always opts for power when some nice placement would be better.

He was fantastic tonight. Just lacked the goal.

He’s actually growing into the role as a CF. You can see the runs he makes in behind, the moments he drops deep or drifts wide. His game is becoming a lot more well rounded and intelligent. He’s maturing and it’s great he has someone like EtH managing him.

His finishing needs to be looked at though. If he had his shooting boots on he’d be coming out of the last 3 games with 2 hat tricks and a late winner vs Newcastle!
