I’ve been a fan of his since his debut, BUT When you break it all down and look at him, what does he actually offer?

Pros;
Fast
Tricky
Powerful shot
Great striker of the ball

Cons;
Inconsistent
Cant head
Weak on the ball
Isn’t dircect enough
No real end product
Ineffective dribbling

I like him, and want him to do well, but he really doesn’t bring alot to the table does he apart from that as a impact sub against a tired high backline.

Course, he has moments of class, but only 1 out of every 4/5 games.

This is gonna be a very interesting season for him. The manager and fans may start to turn on him if he keeps being so ineffective.

Isn't that pretty much your usual English talent ? Most English young players are fast and strong with shaky decision making and finishing. Sterling jumps to mind.

I think Rashford is good but only for the bench currently. He's not going to become world class imo, but will still be a very useful squad player around.

Ah well, he didn't take his chance. Personally I think he is an average player, always thought that, but it's the first game of the season, maybe he proves people wrong. I just don't think he's a good striker right now, and if Lukaku is not playing I'd rather see Martial up front. Rashford can become dangerous from the left wing if he learns to look up and make the correct decisions, his speed and skills can make him dangerous there with some adaptation but right now his vision is really, really poor.

Good point. I think he will be better than Walcott and Lennon though. He has the height and genetics to be a pacy, strong Henry like striker, yet his decision making and tactical awareness seems way off at the moment.

Like I said, I genuinely like him and he has the ability to get the crowd off their feet. This is his make or break season I think, because he may be shipped off out on loan come January or next summer.

As all of us, i want for him to be superstar, our best player, best player in league, etc...but at the moment my opinion about him is that he is overrated. He has talent but there are too many flaws in his game. This is his 4th season in first team and he is doing wrong the same things over and over again.

Right!! His 3'rd season now. Kelechi is way ahead if him being just a year older.

It is? Iheanacho is cack. Never looked like scoring today and Rashford played alright, just made a few bad decisions. Good work rate and positional play and created a few really nice openings.

Few bad decisions? That’s basically been him without his 6 month fluke spell.

He’s average and if he wasn’t from the academy then he wouldn’t be here.

He's not a number 9, should be played on the left wing or not at all

The problem is we still don't know what Rashford is good at. Also in certain positions, he doesn't know what to do with the ball and end up loosing. He was okay today but that's it. He needs to decide a position and stick to it.

Absolutely no control, only time he looks up is when kicks the ball past the defender and has a sprint race with the defender. He should learn a lot from Lingard and start making intelligent runs if he wants to be a striker.

Not good enough. Stagnated since first season, worrying indeed. Lucky to get minutes at the moment

Name a better 20 year old forward in the league.

What does that have to with what I said? He’s been poor since his breakthrough year with the odd performance here and there. But nothing to warrant starting, which some fans call for some odd reason.

I don’t care about his age. His decision making is constantly shit and he takes 20 seconds deciding what to do with the ball. We will then get the weird comparisons with Ronaldo. Ronaldo issue was his final ball was crap or not there after doing the hard part of getting past the players.

Rashford struggles to dribble past players and basically is a kick and run merchant.

He really struggled today, but don't forget he has not had much of a pre-season. Perhaps he is suited better to the wings. I am starting to also wonder if he is lacking in confidence when he plays in a United shirt at this moment in time.

This. This is his biggest problem. And something to worry about. He is the same player 3 full years now. People hate this kind of argument but he is playing this much only because he is academy product.

That moment when we counter and Rashford just missed his opportunity to made a pass for Pogba in 2 on 2 situation was very poor. Either as winger or striker, he just lack of decision making. Piss poor today

He isn’t a lead the line kind of striker. His touch isn’t good enough and he’s not strong enough. I think he’d be very good with a partner up front but it seems to be a crazy notion to play two strikers nowadays. He’s better as an impact sub at the minute.

So Man United shouldn't give opportunities to the best 20 year old forward in the league. Right you are.

He should study how Gabriel Jesus play and the runs he makes. He was making good runs tbf but Sanchez was wank and not finding him.

This thread will do my head in this season. He's 20 years old. He's inconsistent. Martial fanboys need to f##k off.

He's from Manchester, United through and through.. Stick by your own and let him develop through his mistakes, there's a superstar in the making. It's what the club used to be famous for, developing our own

He is simply not ready to be a XI player. But when he gets put on the bench, the media take up arms. Will never be the most technically gifted player but he'll be great when he learns to use his pace and make better decisions. Still think his future is on the RW.

I couldn’t agree more.

I said the same before the start of last season but I got laughed at by my mates

He is incredibly overrated but I can see people just starting to notice his talent isn’t all they hoped to be

Again what the feck does his age have to do with anything?

Man Utd should give opportunities to players good enough not because they 20.

Right you are indeed.

Where has the Rashford that looked great in the final of the fa cup against palace gone? It looks like his decision making has regressed since then.

He can look so great sometimes like in that friendly against Costa Rica for England and I know it was a friendly but his talent was genuinely on show for everyone to see.

He's just not really a striker at all. Play him LW and get Sanchez RW with Lukaku upfront and i think it'll be much better for the team.

He would need a loan actually, because he isnt ready to be starting for us but needs games to get better

Not ready for me. If he’s going to play, play him on the right. This issue with our forwards is still a handicap it seems in comparison to the other top sides.

Yeah, what does a player's age have to do with their level of consistency and decision making? A real poser that one.

So why do these decision making issues come across nearly every game he plays. Is that a poser for you? Nobody is asking him to be super consistent. Nearly everything he does on the pitch he does it wrong and it’s been happening for a lot of the last 2 years.

He can’t dribble, so shouldn’t play the wing. Then not forgetting his lack of end product. He has no physical presence to play up top.

Biggest problem like Martial for me is he can't naturally play in a front 3. These are lads that would probably look more comfortable in a 442. Rashford is struggling with the intelligence to play in a 3 and Martial is at times to predictable.....

Yes. At the moment, he certainly isn't. But i did think he showed some great positioning at times actually. Its a young kid and as a striker he needs to improve these things which may take some time.

If you just let him play his natural game from the left, especially when he is on form, he will look like a wordbeater in the making. I think its smart to play him more as a CF tho, if only for his development.

It's weird to say he can't dribble just because he's also capable of outpacing people. I'm not going down this rabbit hole. Suffice to say, Rashford will fill out, his decision making will improve and he will become a better player in time. And he's already good enough to play a squad role at Manchester United, so hopefully he becomes proper first team material and maybe even world class.

Crying after a decent performance from a young player against a good team when he's not even match fit. This forum is full of shite.

Decent performance? Did you watch the game? The only person full of shite is you.

And yeah you don’t go down rabbit holes, but Rashford seems to every time there’s some sort of counter on.

I don't think he was that bad tbh. He has all the raw attributes to be successful but something is missing. Just needs to put it all together. I feel there is still more potential yet to be unlocked.

Man he'll be so deadly if we perfect that off the shoulder short ball while the opposition defense is pushed up. He wants it so badly and nobody seems to be able to perfect it, Mata is to slow and Sanchez was just poor today. Pogba seems to be stuck to deep to make it happen.

If we do, he's going to get played in so much, I have a feeling we're going to push him out to the right when Lukaku is back and if he can perfect that off the fullback shoulder movements I can see him providing a lot of tap-ins for Lukaku if he can up his ability to deliver. God I'm looking forward to his development this year, such an exciting player.

Im all for him being given chances he just seems to have a very poor footballing brain. Hes a good example of a player who doesnt know when he needs to make a pass - there was a moment in the first half he broke on the left and there must have been 3 other players running on the right side looking to receive the pass but he kept running on the left and got crowded out and lost the ball. Players in his position then with 'intelligence' should be able to have the sense to make a movement/gap to make the pass to the right - instead he kept it
