Its disgraceful that the England 'fans' are booing one of their own -- and not for the first time at United players.

Man of the match.

Hope he does not drink it, :D

From a playmaking standpoint, he looks a different player this year. Hitting chipped balls over the top to the opposite winger and sliding in more and better through balls to the 9.

After Pogba, I think he'd have the highest transfer value on the team, even ahead of Lukaku, Martial and De Gea.

There are still ManUtd fans who thinks he hasn't improved at all since his debut.

I think this is only his 2nd or 3rd start for England and he has scored 2 goals. Must be high on confidence returning to ManUtd.

Interesting bit about him: does not sulk when he misses a sitter, does not put his head down. Instead gets on with it and tries again.

Jose needs to squash this beef between Martial and Rashford's supporters by starting them both and dropping mata (not that he has played badly but he is the most dispensable amongst the front four)

This weekend is the perfect weekend to do so as well since we're playing Stoke and mata is a small guy, now we have two reasons to drop him and let's see these two young talents show their magic!

His attitude is top notch and never hides from his responsibilities on field that's why Jose was playing him regularly even when he wasn't scoring. He has come a long way since his debut. This season he looks a different player than last his vision, dribbling, and Set pieces have improved significantly. If martial and Rashford fulfill their immense potential our front 3 is sorted for many years with Lukaku being only 24, Future looks bright for us:drool:.

Of all the young stars of world football, I'd say Asensio, Mbappe, and Rashford are the ones I feel the most confident will be stars for a long time. Their mentality is top-notch. They're not necessarily the most talented (I personally find Ousmane Dembele the most talented of them all), but I love their attitudes and the one displayed by Rashford gives me high hopes that he will exceed expectations over the next few years.

The beef is one of the dumbest I've seen. Alongside that, the incredible massive over-worship of Pogba. Very few on the forum can find their feet.

Most likely, Jose is not going to start them both just yet. Rashford has a top mentality and won't stop fighting, but Martial's mentality is a little more uncertain. Last season was bad because of the baby momma drama, but you can also see that the people around him are different from the Ibrahimovic #9 drama that came up last year.

It is in Martial's best interest that he's kept on his toes by Rashford. Sink or swim.

I'm so glad we have you to guide people to the right path, especially on this forum.

Rashford has really improved his game. I'm especially glad that he's worked on his end product which is the most important aspect of his improved play that I appreciate the most.

Had to post. Very mixed performance by England as per usual but:

What a slaughtering by shite journalists awaited him from thick jealous envious priks.
I don't care if he scored or even if we lost, what was striking was Rashford's mentality. Strength and courage to not be swayed by a few poor decisions and mistakes, he never gave up and if anything he seemed possessed to do more well by actually playing well. Not "Mee,mee, Stevie me la," way but doing what a good player does: Attack, be brave, look for your teammates, find space and look forwards.

I hope gold-digging hoes stay away, because the lad is on his way right to the very top if he keeps improving with this mentality. Plus he's from Wythenshawe. Oh Ravel, it could have been you too.

:(

He was wearing 7. I say we give him that number for United as well.

He's got that Neymar attitude, absolutely relentless. If it fails, try again. Reckon his ceiling is higher than Kane's and Kane is going to have a battle on his hand to continue to be englands no9 when we finally shift him into that position and he's grown enough to produce regularly.

I'm not interested in guiding people onto the right path, nor have I implied that.

I won't be sarcastic in my response to you, but I think you need to stop trying to act smart. It is quite silly. Let's get back on topic.

He was being compared to welbeck on here a few weeks ago. Probably because he missed sone 1on1's.... Just ridiculous.

I think Kane will continue as #9, Rashford is versatile so he will play as wing forward most of the time.

There'll be question marks all over the place when Rashford moves to a full time 9 and has to be shifted to accommodate Kane.

With Lukaku playing for ManUtd, it's hard for Rashford to play as #9.

The fact that the commentary team mentioned Rashford's 'mistake' probably 14/15 times is everything that is wrong with English football.

The lad received the ball under pressure and with very few options (thanks Kyle) tried to run the ball out of trouble. Had he succeeded, England would have been set up for a very dangerous counter. Even when he lost it, 25 yards from goal, Slovakia still had maybe 7/8 touches of the ball and England had maybe 7 players between the ball and the goal.

The media and the fans want to see England play beautiful football and they constantly bang on about our players needing to be braver on the ball. Yet when one of our young players tries to play football and loses the ball we have a meltdown! Can you imagine this happening in Spain/Italy/Germany?? No chance!

It all stems from being young and hearing coaches shout things like "dont mess around with it there" or "get rid of it" and "if in doubt put it out" - I mean, what kind of lessons are those for kids?!? No wonder half of our players shit themselves whenever they get the ball within 35 yards of our goal, they have been taught to fear possession in certain areas.

Easily the player I'm most excited about in the current side.
He just 'gets it.' He's not quite as talented as Ronaldo at his age but talent aside he just understands it's hard work, dedication, gym work and on the training pitch that will get him to the top...and that's clear to me where he wants to get to.
The evolution in his play this season to last is already massive. The flicks, the link up play, popping up in the middle of the park, dribbling in tight spaces but it's his snap shooting from range that has caught my eye, much like Ronaldo.
No doubt in my mind he will reach his full potential...the scary thing is if he keeps improving like this then his potential is whatever he likes...
Keep him out wide, I'd happily see the kid given the #7.

Agreed. The anxiety from the crowd is poison also, it reminds me of Moyes/Late LVG stage where every half attempt would be greeted with a chorus of groans and frustration. It just makes the players even more nervous and less likely to take responsiblity.

Rashford received the ball on the edge of the box and was then pressed by 3 players, yes he lost the ball but if Walker didn't go galloping out of position before we'd even secured possession fully that wouldn't have happened.

Anyway perhaps that made him even more determined, it just shows his true character and mentality. Some players wilt under pressure but I think Rashford is made of the proper stuff.

Totally agree with this. I couldn't watch the game but saw the highlights, really surprised at how Rashford was getting slaughtered as his mistake (and it was a mistake) was highly justifiable by the absence of options, and as you rightly point out, he didn't exactly hand them a ball in front of goal, it could've easily been defended after that. We love scapegoating in England though.

Jose doesn't need to do anything. His team is top of the league, has scored ten and conceded none in three games.

I imagine he's enjoying having one of the two to bring off the bench during the latter stages of a game, they've both had a huge impact on the game whenever brought on.

How was he overall last night? I only saw from about 5 minutes before he scored onwards. I don't remember him touching the ball after he scored. Nice goal though. His shooting technique has come leaps and bounds.

So who would you pick between the two for the left wing spot against stoke then?

Exactly.

No idea why we'd want to stop being able to bring pace off the bench - something that has allowed us to win the games comfortably like we have been doing.

Agree with all this, good post.

I have to admit, I have been a little slow to get excited about Rashford but last night was just another example amongst an ever-growing number of performances where he has really impressed me.

Seems to have really improved his close control when running with the ball. Even as recently as last season, he sometimes had a bit of the 'squiddly diddly' about him and used to get his legs tangled regularly when travelling at speed. Last night and in the Malta game, he demonstrated an improved ability to travel with the ball.

His finish for the goal was also very good and I thought his overall decision-making was much better than that of more senior players like the Ox

Great post and fully agree with it.

Regarding the bolded part I said the same thing last night when he was getting hammered on twitter asking was he actually the last man back when he lost the ball? No. Is he playing as a wide player? Right. Wheres the rest of the England team? Nowhere to be found. Should Hart have saved the shot instead of it going straight through him? Yes. So the moaners can feck off. Wouldn't happen if it was Lalanna/Henderson/Sterling giving the ball away.

Probably Rashford, I feel his overall play contributes a little more than Martial does, but I wouldn't begrudge either of them the starting berth.

Fair enough

Personally though I'd like to stick with Martial in the starting line up as he has been chopped and diced a lot by Jose... Time to show some faith in him like he has Rashford if he has to choose between the two (I still stand by my earlier assertion that both should be accommodated in the starting line up though)

Martial is fresh due to him not selected for France. Rashford looks sharp, but I think for Stoke, start Martial to keep him sharp and then sub Rashford later on. No harm as those 2 are getting the minutes.

I like his determination. Probably it is the most important thing in football and sports in general. Rash's body has changed, he got bigger, he is faster and generally he is growing as a player. Even his mistake showed how much he believes in himself.
