Still cringing at him trying to be a wide player.

Can't see the logic at all. He of course will have a couple moments every game when he can beat his full back due to his amazing acceleration and pace but he can't do anything with it.

Can we stop this winger nonsense he's trash out there drop ibra play rashford as striker.

It's really that simple

Wish we'd play him up front. No way he'd be as bad as Zlatan at finishing .
he will be there vs Swansea.

We should get a right winger to stop this nonsense. He was decent but he'd be so much better up front.

Has he played up front once this season bar coming on against Northampton for a bit? He could probably do with a rest now, but I'm still hoping to see us drop Zlatan, move Marcus up top and get Martial back on the left. I've missed these two linking up together.

He's good at getting into the box but his final ball is lacking, though sometimes he puts in a decent cross or two. He really needs to be up front.

I can't understand why we're asking him to play as a winger. He doesn't cross consistently well enough and whilst he has great pace he's not really a dribbler. I get starting him from wide but we should be getting him to run in behind and let Shaw provide the width/crossing. We're wasting the skills he's got to give us imo.

He's shit on the wing. Doesn't know how to dribble past players with any skill, just kinda runs at them. Also puts in so many pointless crosses from the left, on the right he can at least whip them in but even there he isn't great. Play him up front or use him off the bench on the wing. As promising as he is, he isn't a patch on Martial really.

Against Feyenoord, which wasn't a particularly great game. We struggled with a lot of distance between our players, although is debatable if it was his or someone else to blame.

I'm pretty sure the logic is that he is better with the ball facing goalwards than he is hassling with defenders with back towards the goal. Starting from the wing with a striker dropping deep gives him more opportunities to do that.

Not good enough to be on the wing. You see the marked difference in Martial who can operate in tight spaces and when he has no support so needs to conjure up something himself. Rashford just tries to out-pace his marker.

He's a Michael Owen type talent. Lightening quick, great runs and knack of being in the right place in the box. You don't shift him wide where he has less room to play in, is closer to the corner flag and take away all he can offer you up front - which is a helluva lot.

Think it's safe to say he's not a winger now, he struggles out there. During the second half, he got the ball and had their right back to take on, tried running at him, didn't come off and then tried it again losing the ball. Not good enough out there when the other team defends that deep. Needs to go back upfront

He's being wasted as a winger. I already said that he's still too raw to be a winger and I will still stick with that. He's a striker and should play as our main striker "for now" because Ibra is wasting every single of our glorious chances.

Don't think he should be starting.

Regardless of him playing wide. He does the same mistake constantly and over dribbles. I think he's the most overrated player on CAF. I'm not going to the depths @Scholesy is.

But people thinking our problems will be solved with him starting up front are kidding themselves. He hasn't really looked great when played upfront too. Only time he's been lively is coming off the bench.

What frustrates me is that the other players still seem surprised by his crossing. He's a good crosser of the ball but he's only got one type of delivery in his armory. We all know he's going to flash it across the six yard box. So why does nobody make that run to the front post? Easy goals to be had. He's not going to dink one to the back stick so why hang around there.

Got pace, cam beat his man with it but still lack the most important thing from a winger and thats his delivery into the box.

Every time he gets into dangerous position by beating his man with pace, he end up doing something immature like trying to dribble some more or stop and look to put the ball back because he lacked the technique to deliver the ball into the box with his left foot.

Final ball is the most important thing for a winger, someone tasked with some creative responsibility from the team and he lacks that.

This is why our only creative moves comes from the middle with Mata when we play Lingard and Rashford on the wings. They lack that final ball skill to deliver which is shame because they've both git pace and get themselves in good positions but from there not much happen with them.

I think it's fairly clear what Mourinho is doing playing him on the left. We've got a number 9 in Zlatan who likes to drop deep into the space and link up with those in behind him. When he does that, there's a natural space that appears on the occasions where the centre half either follows him out or loses his awareness. Those are the areas he's trying to get Rashford into. We saw Henry rip teams to shreds with those type of runs in that invincible season at Arsenal.

The issue is, when teams put players behind the ball, those gaps aren't there. When they don't he struggles. He's not got the control or the skillset to play on the wing IMO. He's not going to float balls into the box or cut inside the full back. His only move when he's out there is to try and beat his man on the outside for speed. That isn't really his fault because it isn't his game.

For me, he needs some game time as a number 9. It's his position, it's his long term position and right now I think a striker who will stretch teams is very important. It will give Mata more space because the defensive line will be deeper, Pogba will benefit from that as well and hopefully we'll have Mkhitaryan in there as well who's entire game is based around those pockets of space.

Ibrahimavic is a character, he's a winner and that's great but he isn't putting the ball in the back of the net. He's costing us points at the minute. I'm not saying that Rashford will tear it up straight away, he's a 19 year old who is still learning the game. No doubt there will be some harsh lesions to come, but I'd like to see Martial on the left and Rashford in the middle in certain games and we'll see how things look.

This is what annoys me. Normally with wingers when they beat their men it means bad news for the opposing team because there is a position to put in a dangerous ball to cause havoc.

Last year every time Martial was beating his man and heading into the box, he'd either assist or cause damage and panic via putting in a dangerous ball, finding another team mate in a good position in the box etc. But this isn't the case with Rashford. He beats his man and I pretty much expect nothing productive to happen after that.

He's just not working out as a winger and we're simply wasting another creative corner for mere pace with no delivery.

Mou needs to stick someone who will actually create from the wing and actually threaten the opponents box after beating his man on the wing.

Good analysis.
Rashford is still a youngster. Minutes on the pitch is the most important thing for his development right now. I think that with time he could develop into a good option on the wing, though striker is clearly going to be his best position

Totally agree with you.

He's useless and just show how terrible he's in terms of technics. Him and Lingard on the sides proves how far our club has fallen since 10 years. I'd rather have Nani and Welbeck on the wings than them

happy birthday

Plenty of touching birthday greetings for this lad from the team. Seems like not just a great player, but a well loved character in the dressing room as well

there are rumblings he me play as a lone striker this weekend, with zlatan dropping to the bench.

i wouldn't at all be opposed, although i by no means have given up on ibra.

There's no way Jose is dropping Zlatan let's be honest. And right now I don't think he needs to be either, he just needs some luck to fall his way.

Not a chance, he made the assist for our derby win and was (finishing aside) superb at the weekend. One tremendous save and one poor miss don't change that, after all he was involved in our of our good play.

If Zlatan is to be dropped, it will be when he is playing poorly, not when he is playing well.

Well exactly. If he wasn't dropped after Liverpool he sure as hell won't be dropped now.

The day Zlatan is benched for an important game, I will gasp. His only opportunities will be on the wing. You cannot displace Rooney for Zlatan then drop Zlatan for young Marcus
