NCAA basketball's 2009 championship tournament is going to begin soon, anyone up for a pool?

UNC fan here, hope we can get over this funk of away games and pull this out, we looked good pre-season but we've been shakey and not so dominate despite our record.

Reckon Wake Forest is the team to watch, especially if they shake things up and take us out in the ACC tourney.

Duke fan here and lets just say I hate Tyler Hansbrough with a passion. That being said UNC is a very talented team and has a very good chance of winning the title this year. I would be up for a pool if we can get enough people.

Villanova fan here. We definitely can cause some big teams some trouble with our playing style. We've lost to Louisville on a botched lay up, played UConn tough at home, beat Pitt and beat Marquette to name a few of our results. We'd easily be top 10 if we didn't lose concentration against teams we should have easily beaten. Definitely a team to watch out for. Scottie Reynolds and Dante Cunningham have been fantastic this year. The two Corey's - Fisher and Stokes have been great coming off of the bench. Stokes in particular has a fantastic 3 point shot... he can hit them from anywhere and he hits them often (44% from behind the line).

And we've got the best dressed coach in college basketball ;)

Have not watched Villanova play this year to much, but they looked pretty good when I did watch them.

Nova look VERY good... growing as the season goes along and will be top quality for the tournament.

fecking hell, doesn't anybody support their local team or school here? feck all you ACC gloryhunting twats, Pac-10 all the way! UCLA will make the final 8, I think. UW has the potential to surprise many East Coast biased twunts.

Considering I live in Canada it's a bit hard

No UNC, just liked them watching Vince Carter, which translated into my love for the Raptors !

I just always liked Duke from when I was little as they were always on TV so I started to like them. For some reason I hate U of I with a passion and they are the only team that is really close to me. I used to go to some Depaul games back when Quentin Richardson was there, but never really followed them that much.

I went to Villanova.

I would but there isnt gonna be enough people for a good one.

I think it will be fine with only 5 people, we can still talk shit to each other about horrible picks and what not

What a night for college basketball. That's all that need be said really.

You guys have a pretty big game today, I think you guys will win

Very big one. We played Louisville this year "at home" (we never seem to perform well in the Wachovia Center), and lost 61-60. Had a chance to win but Cunningham missed an easy lay-up. I have to admit I'm a bit scared of this game though. But this tournament has proved anything can happen so far

I'd be up for a pool. Who cares how many people are in it? It's all in good fun. Hopefully I remember to check back here to see if gets set up, as I don't often think to check this Other Sport board.

Anyway, as the second half of my screen name indicates, I'm a Michigan State fan. And before anyone throws any glory hunter remarks toward me, not only did I graduate from Michigan State, but so did my Mom, my Grandfather, and my Great Grandfather, as well as numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. 4 Generations in my family, dating back to the late 1800s. So all you bandwagon jumpers can suck it. :p ;)

You never know what's going to happen in the tournament, but as you're filling out your brackets, something to keep in mind. This is Tom Izzo's 14th season at Michigan State. In that time, every single player that he has recruited, who stayed for 4 years, has played in the Final Four. This year's seniors have not yet played in a Final Four. Also, once out of the first round, Tom Izzo has never lost to a lower seed, and has only once ever lost in the second round (and that was when MSU was an 8 seed and lost to 1 seed UNC in North Carolina--not exactly an easy situation). Of course, now I've probably jinxed it, and all those trends will be broken.

The Final Four is also taking place in Detroit, about an hour away from MSU's campus. Now, for you UNC fans, you may remember trouncing us in Detroit earlier this year, at the very place where the Final Four will be played. But we were without our best big man, and it was something like our 4th game in 6 days. Not trying to make excuses, just saying that I hope we get another shot at you in Detroit. I think it would be a great game.

Nothing particularly surprising so far today other than CS Northridge giving Memphis a bit of a fight. Never seriously thought they'd win.

Where do you work? Remind me NOT to get a job there!

Sheraton hotel

Maryland & Michigan upsets weren't upsets but they're 2 teams that could bust a bracket... I have Maryland in the sweet 16 anyways.

Yea, I got Maryland but not Michigan. I can't see Maryland beating Memphis, but we shall see. Got 12 of 16 last night.. fairly average

Arghhh I had Western Kentucky beating Gonzaga. 0.9 seconds and it would've went to overtime

Ah well, at least Nova looked very good today. Think they should beat Duke.
