Marcel Sabitzer | Signs for United

He's a decent midfielder with solid all-round ability and plenty of experience playing pressing football, which is much more than any of us have any right to hope for on deadline day on loan. Good signing, if we can pull it off in time.

Been massively invested in this transfer and have desperately wanted Sabitzer to join us ever since I found out about it 7 minutes ago.

Chelsea are focusing on other deals so that just leaves us. What time does this have to be completed by?

Who was he battling for a place against specifically?
He was mainly Goretzka's backup (who is injured a lot) but Musiala's emergence as nondroppable has limited his game time options further (as Sabitzer can also play a more attacking role), and Gravenberch is pushing for more time too. He had just a backup role so far and with Laimer coming he will be surplus to requirement completely.

That's where you do an obligation to buy if he plays say 15 games.
So every game for the next week
This one aged well and quickly :D
Takes me back to when I was a kid, the day before we signed Sheringham I spent ages convincing my bet mate he would be the ideal Cantona replacement, spent the next two months convinced I was the next fergie

Boehly wants to complete a loan XI before the close of the window though, he's running out of 100m 7 year deals now

Of course it's a panic buy.

But that isn't always a bad thing. Currently, with the team being involved in four different competitions, we need bodies. Anyone who's better than McTominay - and that isn't a high bar - is welcome in midfield.

No shit. Our first choice MF is out til at least April and we don't trust the backups. Sometimes panic is warranted. In saying that he'd be a decent addition.

Can he play in a midfield 2?

He could definitely play in Eriksen's position. I would say that he definitely is ahead of Fred and McT and that he is on par with Eriksen -- much better all round and defensively, but not as good playmaker.

Your options in CM are ridiculous.

He was one of the best players in Leipzig before he moved to Bayern, and that's all I remember. Hope they can make it happen as we desperately need a midfielder now.

In every fecking transfer I see Chelsea name too, can Chelsea feck off with being involved in every footballer on the planet ffs.

I'm in two minds - in our current situation he would be welcomed, but then isn't this how we end up with a squad of average players - i.e. are we signing future deadwood? That said I think I'd still go for it due to the Eriksen injury. I wouldn't be looking at a long term deal of course.

One of the main differences between us and Bayern is that Bayern would not accept McT even as a groundskeeper for their 2nd team's training facilities.
Well, Sabitzer is infinitely better than McT

WTF is it with our reactionary transfer dealings?? Are we run by 4-year-olds??
Such a stupid approach trying to sign a midfielder on the day it's announced one of the 3 first choice options is possibly out until May.

Bloody juvenile delinquents.

It’s a loan.

I guess he's of better stamina than Eriksen too?

Eriksen was injured last week. WTF do you expect any club to do at this stage? We don't have the money and we're exploring loan deals and that's all we can ask for at this stage.

We're discussing a loan deal always. We're broke atm
