Yeah but all it takes is a few goals to be shipped before the spotlight is back on him and everybody is questioning him again, even if the rest of the team plays terribly. I wouldn't risk it.

Some of the lads who came off early could probably play - Mazraoui (assuming everything's okay) and Ugarte would be two who fit the bill for that.
Maz is injured, apparently. Garna, Hojlund, Dorgu and Ugarte all should start.

Perfect excuse to go all in with the kids… maybe give Shaw an hour and the armband for fun

Something like this yes. Maybe we can use Evans now he’s back in training.
Keep evans wrapped in cotton wool for when somehow all our CBs get injured doing the washing up… or bring him on if we’re one up in Billbao with three mins left… nine at the back instead of the usual five!

This has got Joao Gomes running the midfielder all over it, same as last season

Dumb as shit to over expose a bunch of young players all at once and set their careers back. If you care about them making the grade, you don’t use them like that.
On the contrary, no one will blame them if we lose while it gives them a taste of the big time and a chance to impress

We all know the first XI would cave to Wolves’ physicality

Weve a week off after. Would certainly rest v Bournemouth next Sunday, but wouldn't go wholesale today. Id rest bruno to be honest, let mount start. Maybe mainoo has a start in him too. Hojlund can start

I think players will still need some minutes across the next two games, as we don't play Athletic until May 1st. But I'd hope that some are left out, particularly those who played more than 90 minutes last night.

    Onana
    Mazraoui Lindelof Shaw
    Ogunneye Ugarte Eriksen Amass
    Mount Mainoo
    Hojlund
    -----
    Subs: Kukonki, Obi, Kone, Moorhouse

Hopefully Amad, de Ligt, and Collyer have speedier then anticipated returns and can play some part. I know Amorim has said trust the kids in the league and while I agree, I think we should be picking a slightly stronger side here. I want us to beat Wolves to put a bit of daylight between us. Hit 41 points, have a 6-point gap to them so the final position potentially isn't quite as embarrassing

But then, as long as we're looking like we can win the Europa League, I wouldn't care about the final league games. Bar maybe just trying to ensure we beat Wolves & West Ham at OT. That should ensure we finish around 13-15th..

I would happily lose all six of our remaining league games if it helps us win the Europa.

We aren't going to finish in the top half so there's not really much difference between 13th and 17th.

Amorim said it is not the moment for the kids to play, but if we have to do it, we will do it. Expect a strong team just with a couple like Maguire and Casemiro protected, who probably then play vs Bournemouth.

Amorim hinted in his post-match interview yesterday that some of the younger players might get a chance in the EPL - similar to how Amass featured against Newcastle. We could see a couple more involved, but with several squad players also needing minutes, it’s unlikely we’ll see a full wave of youngsters, especially not from the start.

    I'd go with:

    Hojlund
    Mainoo Mount
    Amass Bruno Ugarte Dalot
    Kukonki Lindelof Yoro
    Onana

I'm slightly concerned about the lack of experience down the left flank, but with De Ligt and Martínez out, Shaw playing longer than expected, Maguire going the full 120 minutes yesterday, and Heaven still recovering, this feels like a good opportunity for Kukonki to get his first start.

I'd love to see Kone and Moorehouse get some minutes as well. Also, Dalot looks absolutely in need of a rest - could this be a chance to give Mantato some time on the pitch? And if not him, is there anyone else who could realistically fill in there?

Amass, Heaven and Obi would be the only 'kids' I'd expect to see play before the end of the season. Maybe Kukonki depending on the situation with Heaven.

I think Amorim really wants to rest Bruno and Dalot, especially after what happened to Zirkzee. Just depends if Shaw, Mainoo or Mount are in the position to start themselves.

All in all, expect the lineup prediction for Sunday to be a shitshow. Going to be really hard to predict.

    Kid

    Child
    Bairn
    Little'un

    Tot
    Tyke
    My yut
    Seed
    El niño
    Kind

    Brat
    You little shit

I know they’re just kids, but I’m pretty sure we’re still not allowed to start with 12 players. I’d stick Tot on the bench for now. As for El Niño, I’d throw him up top. Something tells me he’s got that goal-poacher instinct...

    Onana

    Yoro Lindelof Shaw
    Dorgu Ugarte Mount Amass
    Eriksen Mainoo
    Hojlund

Possibly something like that with Garnacho and Maz possible starters depending on their fitness. Ideally wouldn't have Yoro playing so soon after playing 90 mins but if Maz isn't fit he's most capable of the quick turnaround.

Lack of pace is the real concern. Wouldn't be surprised to see a range of combinations up front including Mainoo up top and Garnacho behind

Wait so are we focusing on Europe or not?
I swear the messaging has 180'd

I think in reality the kids will be used more sparingly than most expect. Perhaps as later subs to rest some legs.
Mount, Mainoo, Eriksen, Lindelof etc will all start. And Bruno of course. Bruno always starts.

If it's up to me, no one that played 120 min and, ideally, no starters should play any significant minutes on Sunday. Bruno, as much as I love how much of an ironman he is, needs to be protected at this point. Sadly, Hojlund, too, since there are no other strikers available for the EL. I'm not sure who plays right wing but Dalot needs a rest. There is no point in risking anyone other than to keep them sharp. I'd likely do the same next week.

Reading his comments in more detail he does seem to be saying he will use only a couple of the kids and potentially more from the bench than starting. I would guess Amass gets a start and maybe Chido Obi alongside the backups like Eriksen and Lindelof coming into the starting lineup. I would throw Bianchieri onto the bench if we go with Chido Obi and give Hojlund a weekend off. Ruben can apply the same logic he used for Onana and it would probably be truthful to say that giving Hojlund a couple of games off would be beneficial to his frame of mind. My only concern is that Chido missed the Newcastle game last week after not playing for the U21s and so I am worried that means he is not fit right now.

We need more options for the lineup prediction. Kamason in the squad last night for instance.

I think we'll get a Moorhouse sighting at some point, I'd also like Biancheri to get at least in the bench. I think he deserves a shot at playing a game some point this season as a reward for this season plus he's a potential 10/9 with Zirkzee being out. Maybe the Fletcher bros can make a sighting at some point too or even at least take them to Hong Kong

Winning Europa league fixtures is not just about the first 11. It's the whole squad. He needs to give recovery time to the all the first team players.

I wouldn't be surprised for Kukonki to play at the weekend and for Moorhouse, Obi and Biancheri to get 30 mins each.

A week after saying Lindelof and Eriksen shouldn’t start for us again, I’d start them both here

Mount, Mainoo and Shaw all should start I’d hope. Maybe an hour for each then give Evans half an hour if he’s ready in place of Shaw. Imagine if he’s available, Mazraoui might be the other centre back.

Onana, Ugarte, Dorgu and Hojlund all start I’d reckon.

    Rest will be youngsters.

    Onana
    Dalot - Lindelof - Yoro - Amass
    Garnacho - Casemiro - Ugarte - Bruno
    Mainoo - Maguire

As important as Europa League is to us, I don't foresee us putting out a team of Onana plus 10 kids. Of course we need to prioritise Champions League qualification, but Amorim will know that when you're Man United you can't just lose 8-0 to Wolves, even if it's something of a dead rubber - risking defeat is one thing, but with United losing heavily means being a national laughing stock, feeding the media narrative of plumbing new depths of crisis and creating a toxic atmosphere of intense criticism for the young players themselves.

For the starting line-up I'd expect to see a mix of second stringers, the odd first choice and a sprinkling of kids. I am expecting to see much more of the kids in the league, but I expect many of those appearances to be coming from the bench, rather than throwing a bunch of total novices into the first team starting line up together.

I expect the likes of Dalot, Fernandes and Casemiro to be rested - key players who played the full 120 minutes on Thursday; maybe Maguire too.

Eriksen and Mount seem like safe bets to come in - first team squad players who haven't had a load of minutes. Probably Lindelöf too. Mainoo I am less sure of as Amorim was talking post-match on Thursday like he is still nursing an injury so I feel like he might start on the bench again. Similar for Shaw since he is basically always nursing an injury and he played 80+ minutes on Thursday but in his case I'm not sure who else will plug the holes in the back three. Heaven seems likely to come in if he is fit.

Maybe Obi as an outside shot to start upfront.

I can see the starting 11 being something like:
    Onana
    Heaven, Lindelof, Shaw
    Mazraoui, Ugarte, Eriksen, Amass
    Garnacho, Mount
    Hojlund

It’s a dead rubber for them as well to be honest - they’re clear of danger. Reckon a drab 0-0.

Don't think Fernandes, Casemiro, Dalot or Maguire should play at all. We also shouldn't be throwing players in (particularly injury prone ones) who aren't ready. Unfortunately that probably means that some kids will need to fill in the spaces. I think some are misinterpreting Amorim's quotes, but he is right, that this isn't the ideal situation to be essentially throwing kids in at the deep end.

    I'd go something like:

    Onana
    Mazraoui Lindelof Kukonki
    Garnacho Ugarte Eriksen Dorgu
    Mainoo Mount
    Chido

Garnacho, Dorgu and Mount would get 60 minutes - with Kamason, Amass, Moorhouse as their replacements. Shaw can get 30-45 whatever the medical team thinks is best for him.

I feel like in recent years every time we got our hopes up for play the kids we end up disappointed. Maybe it’ll actually happen this time.
