  • ..........................Bayandir ....................
    .........Yoro .........Maguire .......Martinez........
    Evans ........Ugarte .......Mainoo.......Shaw....
    ..........Diallo..........Chido.........Mount.....

    That should do the trick.

Would rather play Heaven than Lindelof, but maybe good to protect the young lad.

Ugarte would be good as they'll have zubimendi back and will need some close attention

No Yoro this match (and next match) is not good imo. Considering he seems to be the only one capable to play that WCB role like Amorim wants to(Besides Licha who is out for the season and who knows how he will be when he's back). Neither Lindelof or DeLigt are good enough.

    Mazraoui and Heaven?

    Onana

    Lindelof - MDL - Mazraoui

    Dalot - Casemiro - Bruno - Dorgu

    Zirkzee - Garnacho

    Hojlund

Subs: Harrison, Mee, Heaven, Amass, Ugarte, Collyer, Eriksen

Guess it will be something like this? Possibly Ugarte to start over Casemiro depending on his fitness, or maybe both with Bruno further up the pitch and Zirkzee at CF so that United at least have a forward option off the bench if needed.

(Not entirely sure on which way round the CB's will be either, maybe De Ligt at RCB and Lindelof in the middle)

    —————-—Onana———————

    ——Lindelof—De Light—Heaven—

    -Mazroui-Collyer-Ugarte-Dorgu—

    ———Garnacho——Bruno—————

Case has looked better of late, he has to play in this one I think.

Otherwise no issues with that line up.

I'm going tomorrow with the kids and I'm (again) hoping for a swashbuckling performance where we score 3 early goals and coast to the next round.

I'm expecting a tight affair, with plenty of tension and a penalty shoot out.

Protect him from what? He performed very well against Aresnal. I'd love to see him start...but I think it will be Lindelof.

    Onono
Maz - De Ligt - Lindelof
    Dalot - Casemiro - Ugarte - Dorgu
    Bruno - Garnacho
    Zirkzee

These lot looked utter shit last week, even worse than us levels of shit but I still can't bring myself to be overly optimistic given the state of our season

I'm gonna go with scraping through 1-0 but I doubt it'll be pretty. we'll probably need extra time too

We're looking a lot more solid since new year and controlling possession more.

    I think we'll scrape through.

The EL is very winnable although obviously a slog.

That would represent value for money, tbf. 120 minutes plus a penalty shootout.
If I could guarantee a penalty shoot out win, I'd take that for tension and drama, but as I don't believe we will win any penalty shoot out, ever, I'll take a 3-0 first half cakewalk.

Yoro out a big blow on top of Maguire,Martinez out. Some are picking Heaven to start but it will Lindelof and hopefully one of his rare better displays.

This protecting players talk is a load of nonsense.

They are in the team becuase they can be trusted to play. Heaven shown vs Arsenal that he is clearly capable of playing in a big game. Let him do his stuff.

Yeh this competition is a bit of a slog, but the slog is almost done! After tomorrow if we get through we’re 5 games away from CL qualification.

Could start to look a lot brighter come the QF with players returning should we make it through!

Getting through one game with Lindelof not costing you a goal is like knowing when to walk away from the casino while you're up. You're not getting through a second game.

Play Maz, De Ligt and Heaven as the back 3. Throwing the young lad in is obviously a risk, but no greater risk than the worlds least proactive defender and the upside of getting more minutes into him is far higher.

It's a real shame that Obi isn't registered.

Before finding out about it ahead of the first leg, I'd have thought players under a certain age - 18 or 21? - didn't have to be registered as it allowed an opportunity to give some youngsters game time when needed.

Maybe that's just in the PL? Though I remember that European tie we had a few years back against Astana when we sent a squad mostly of academy players because we'd already qualified.

Were they all registered then, along with the entire first team who didn't travel? Or is it something to do with Obi not having been with us for long and so not qualifying for that in the same way?

It's a slog but worth slogging.

I think we're turning a corner in terms of performances so it's not that unlikely we win it, although that might be wishful thinking.

I imagine Amorim knows how important it is.

It probably adds 50m to 100m to his budget as well as making us more attractive to players.

Agree with this as well. People get too protective over young talented players when the fact is the squad is skint and we are hardly welcoming Real Madrid for a UCL Semifinal. I'd much rather have Heaven start than fecking Lindelof.

Even if he has a poor game, people act like these players will go into a mental tailspin and never recover.

His comments in the press conference today showed he values it big time. He knows it gives him more transfer capacity.
