Rangers Football Club (nicknamed The Gers, The Light Blues and The Teddy Bears) is a professional football club in Glasgow, Scotland. Rangers Football Club was formed in March 1872 by teenage brothers Moses McNeil and Peter McNeil, Peter Campbell, William McBeath and David Hill, a group of rowing enthusiasts; and is the fourth-oldest association football club in Scotland.

In 1914, William Struth arrived at Rangers, to take up the position of assistant manager, and in 1920, he took over as manager after his predecessor drowned in a boating accident. Struth went on to steer Rangers to eighteen league championships, ten Scottish Cups and two League Cups in his 34-year tenure as manager. He was also the first manager in the history of Scottish football to win the domestic treble, in season 1948–49. The success was based on the so-called Iron Curtain defence, which remained virtually unchanged from 1946 to 1953.

34-year-old White was installed as Rangers' fourth manager on 1 November 1967. When White took up the reins at Rangers, the team had failed to win the league championship in three seasons, the longest title drought in fifty years. White won all but one of his first twenty league matches in charge, amassing 39 point out of a possible 40. He ended up winning 13 major trophies in seven years, including seven league titles in succession. And a total of 21 trophies over two stints as the club's manager.

Rangers is the second-most successful club in world football in terms of trophies won, behind Egyptian club Al Ahly. They have won the Scottish League title a record 55 times, the Scottish Cup 34 times, the Scottish League Cup a record 28 times and the domestic treble on seven occasions. Rangers won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1972 after being losing finalists twice, in 1961 (the first British club to reach a UEFA tournament final) and 1967. The club has lost a further two European finals.

Rangers has a long-standing rivalry with Celtic, the two Glasgow clubs being collectively known as the Old Firm, which is considered one of the world's biggest football derbies. Other rivals include Aberdeen and Queen's Park. They play their home games at the Ibrox Stadium.

Oh god, another game at OT. Lord have mercy on us.

Could really do with Old Trafford rousing itself for this one. Rangers fans will take full advantage if not.

He needs to tweak the formation and go with something different. We have zero threat upfront.

    Bayindir
    Yoro DeLigt Martinez
    Amad Ugarte Bruno Dalot (sigh)
    Zirkzee
    Garnacho Hojlund
We’re in desperate need for a LWB and a box to box midfielder. Then we could play.

    Keeper
    Yoro DeLigt Martinez
    Amad Ugarte CM WB
    Bruno
    Garnacho Hojlund
It’s just not possible to put out a full first 11 with playing 3 at the back with who we have in the squad and their deficiencies.

Easy Rangers win and Amorin in the sack discussion. Performances like we have constantly seem to put out can’t carry on. The players have shown more than this and he’s not delivering the goods.

I'm struggling to care at the minute. By Thursday, just like every week I'll be excited for the game, only for us to start shite and be chasing from early on.

Expect a win as rangers aren't great, but will play open which should give us chances

Honestly I would really like a week with no United games. When is the next international break

    Altay
    De Ligt Maguire Martinez
    Amad Ugarte Eriksen Dalot
    Garnacho Bruno
    Zirkzee
    Hoping for this

Play some of the youth players and gamble, get men forward and pump it long and hope to get the second ball. No expectations of any style of play or threat up front so may as well throw players forward and hope for the best.

It’s Europa League or bust for us now.

Will be interesting to see if Amorim’s tactics suit european football better at this early stage - the level of opposition should help.

Cus if we don’t slap that Rangers team i dont know….

Really important game. Actually both Europa games that we've got left are important. We need to finish in top 8 in order to avoid playing round of 32 in February.

    GK: Bayindir
    CBs: de Ligt*-Maguire-Martinez
    Midfield: Amad-Ugarte-Casemiro-Dalot
    10s: Bruno-Garnacho
    Striker: Hojlund

Bayindir is obvious one. Either de Ligt or Mazraoui on RCB. Perhaps he'll rest Maguire again for Fulham so in that case de Ligt in central position, with Mazraoui/Yoro on the right. Amad at wingback with Antony leaving, no other options. I'd even go with Garnacho at LWB but that's not happening.

Hojlund purely for his European record. Atm it seems better for him to start there and Zirkzee in league games.

I can see us ending up in the playoffs (even though we are favourites to win it out )

Almost feels like the most important part is giving a break to our most used players. Wouldn't mind something like this:

    Bayindir
Yoro - De Ligt - Martinez
    Dalot - Collyer - Ugarte - Malacia
    Garnacho - Eriksen
    Højlund

Would give a break to Bruno, Amad, and Mazraoui at least. We don't have a lot to lose, in my opinion. Don't see us winning the tournament.

We need to somehow rest players, win and avoid injuries.
    I'd start:
    -----------Bayindir
    Yoro-Maguire-Lisandro
    Amad-Collyer-Ugarte-Dalot
    -Garnacho-Zirkzee-Bruno-

Make some changes. Amad at RWB. Bring in Eriksen because it’s quite clear we’re lacking creativity. Play Bruno CM next to Ugarte. Garnacho and Eriksen behind zirkzee.

I've been to two Europa games this season, both have been absolutely dreadful performances. Rangers love this competition and seem to turn up.

I'm going so hopefully it's a decent performance for once and we win convincingly.

Rangers will be well up for it and we have some sort of home mental block going on. Not much confidence in this one.

As manic as our performances are capable of being, is there a real-world chance that next season we wind up competing in the Champions League after having won the Europa, while also being a Championship club because we wind up getting relegated this season?

They’re very bad away from home domestically but they do game raise massively in Europe.
So with that in mind .. United 0-2 rangers

Eh? This is our best chance of silverware and it gets you into the CL. Why would rest players for this?

The players have looked leggy after Arsenal. Can’t keep playing the same XI game after game.

Also, we are not winning the Europa League. And even if we did, we’d have no business in the CL next year - we are literally finishing in the bottom half of the league.
