Manchester United vs. Portsmouth F.C.

No Park at all yesterday, not even on the bench so I guess he will start this game. Nani didn't play either so wouldn't be surprised if he starts.
I'm sure Giggs will rest.

Hope the pitch will be in better condition Pompey wont mind playing on a crap pitch but it doesn't suit us

Will be a very tough game, me thinks. The Arse will win their match, that's pretty sure. Could be an important win.

--Park---------Carrick---Scholes------Nani/Anderson-

---------------------------Rooney--------------

---------------------Saha---------------------

VDS to be rested. He's almost 40 and can't play 2 games in 4 days

Simpson to get ahead of O Shea to aid his development

Hargreaves to be rested since he just recovered from an injury and we don't want him to break down due to playing too many games too soon

Giggs to be saved for more impt clashes

Tevez is tired

Ronaldo to be rested and unleashed only if urgently required in 2nd half

Prediction:2-1 win with goals from Scholes, Rooney

Crazy talk...
-If you want to rest Hargreaves because he's recovering from a hangnail, shouldn't you feel the same for Scholes after being out close to 3 months?
-Ronaldo is 22 years old and in excellent shape, why would he need a rest?
-Van der Sar is a goalie, and different rules apply with goalies and fitness, he's not exactly in full stride for 90 minutes.
-And Tevez says he gets tired toward the 70th minute of the game (notice how we sub him quite often), and Saha is injured.

Pompey are great away from home, and James will have a blinder as usual, but I reckon the loss of their players to ACN will prove too great. We shoud be able to do the buz.

Played it on FIFA but am somewhat drunk only 2-1, both by Carlitos, probably will be more thinking 3-1 or possibly 4-1, but I would put my money on 3-1 with one from each of United's triumvirate of Rooney, Ronaldo, and Tevez

Portsmouth’s Baros: We Have Nothing To Lose Against Man United

Portsmouth's loan signing, Milan Baros is keen to make his presence felt as he eyes a debut against Manchester United in the Premiership on Wednesday night.

The Czech international striker who joined Harry Redknapp’s side on loan from Lyon, has the experience of playing in English game as he has formerly played for Liverpool and Aston Villa; and is looking to put it to good use as Pompey face the leaders United away at Old Trafford. He then eyes playing against Chelsea.

"I'm focused on what we can in these next two big games," he told the Pompey website, Portsmouthfc.co.uk.

"It will be a tough game against Manchester United but you never know what can happen in football.

"They're the favourites to win but we have nothing to lose. We have to go to Old Trafford with confidence, not just with the attitude to give up.

"You need to fight and get a little bit of luck as well. But we're going there to hopefully take something."

Don't want to see any wildly experimental line-ups. Lets keep it fairly standard and pull whoever Fergie thinks needs a rest if we're leading 2-0 at 70.

4 - 2 win. Ronaldox2, Scholes and Rooney. Hreidarsson with both for them.

I'm reckoning that SAF might want to give Hargreaves/Scholes a chance to establish its claim and Rooney needs to play games to get back his rhythym.

Tevez has been indicating he needs a break - might this be the game? - I don't think we can afford to lose him at the moment though.

I'd agree with the idea that Park and/or Nani would be involved though.

I just want us to truely batter them.

Portsmouth are a decent side, and shouldn't be taken lightly.

Saying that, when we're 4-0up, bring on Nani and Anderson

Giggs starting? not a chance efter playing 90 min in the fa-cup game and Spurs coming up on saturday.

We'll beat Portsmouth 4-0

We certainly do need to maintain as good a goal-difference as possible. that's what's seperating us from Arse and could well be the determining factor at the end of the season. it wasn't a big deal last season as Chelski don't exactly score too many, so it wasn't a worry whereas Arse, much like ourselves do score quite a few.
