and how did Veron play today? (I am in the middle of the class break...couldn't track the whole match...only saw the final score)

He has a hamstring injury, but its not too bad and he's rested to prevent it becoming so.</strong><hr></blockquote>
At least we showed we can actually play fine football and get goals from all over the pitch even without him.

Bags of space, bit like the Serie A, allowed him to control the game, with some great passing. He ain't going to be able to do that in the Premiership though.

Pleased to see Ole get a goal too, he had a great game. Forlan, as usual, didn't have enough time, and came on when we were sitting back and not trying to score another.

BTW Scholes played up front as a striker in this match, it was more 4-4-2 than 4-5-1.</strong><hr></blockquote>
I'm sure I remember Scholes playing as a striker when he first made the first team. I can remember fearing for his place when we signed Andy Cole.

How can you say that?????
You have to give credit where it's due, and Phil has been one of our best players recently, and has probably played better than he ever has.

He did play it some of the time (not sure about all) in the youth sides.

One 'The new captain Marvel' is also absent, as people have recently forgot!

Quite agree Phil is not the best player at O.T .
But he is a true red FULL STOP.....

whats that got to do with anything??!
he's played very well in his last 5 odd games..... thus deserves a place in the starting 11 IMO.

Hes been due a rest and Gary needed the match practice. I hope we see a lot more of him this season than last. He should definitely be one of the top 4 challenging for our 2 full back places and midfield is yet another option for him.

SAF has to be really happy. RVN did not play and yet United really put on a show. Lets hope this carries over to the Premire League schedule and they can continue to build on this performance.

No, but they still managed to put five past BL.
Just for tonight, let's think that maybe we didn't allowe them to be any better.

Oh yeah. I remember now being shocked to hear of the sixth, as I thought it ended with five.
As you say, even better.

I think you can visibly see the difference in confidence of the team as a whole now, and yes let's hope they can carry this form into the PL. dare I say it, but we have a run of 5 or 6 fixtures where we should pick up a lot of points.

Could it be anything to do with winning games? They didn't look so happy against Leeds and Bolton when Keano was out and Queiroz was coach.
