At least we showed we can actually play fine football and get goals from all over the pitch even without him.

Bags of space, bit like the Serie A, allowed him to control the game, with some great passing. He ain't going to be able to do that in the Premiership though.

Pleased to see Ole get a goal too, he had a great game. Forlan, as usual, didn't have enough time, and came on when we were sitting back and not trying to score another.

BTW Scholes played up front as a striker in this match, it was more 4-4-2 than 4-5-1.</strong><hr></blockquote>

I'm sure I remember Scholes playing as a striker when he first made the first team. I can remember fearing for his place when we signed Andy Cole.

Fan-bloody-tastic. We pished all over them. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> @ Veron picking his nose at the end.

How can you say that?????

You have to give credit where it's due, and Phil has been one of our best players recently, and has probably played better than he ever has.

Good performance tonight and it must be encouraging that the team can win so well without RvN.

I had been told by certain people that this Veron character was shit....looked OK to me tonight ;)

He did play it some of the time (not sure about all) in the youth sides.

One 'The new captain Marvel' is also absent, as people have recently forgot!

Quite agree Phil is not the best player at O.T .
But he is a true red FULL STOP.....

whats that got to do with anything??!

he's played very well in his last 5 odd games..... thus deserves a place in the starting 11 IMO.

Hes been due a rest and Gary needed the match practice. I hope we see a lot more of him this season than last. He should definitely be one of the top 4 challenging for our 2 full back places and midfield is yet another option for him.

Lets not just get carried away tooo qucikly and hope we can build on this perfomance. And play to a consistently high level every match. Sure there will b the odd one where well have an off day but heres hoping we remain consistent and ENJOY our football. Results will sort themselves out. :)

SAF has to be really happy. RVN did not play and yet United really put on a show. Lets hope this carries over to the Premire League schedule and they can continue to build on this performance.

nice win, nice goal from Seba, in fact nice game from Seba.
Again though the opposition wasnt the best, but United still have to beat whats put in front of them. Hope they carry this good form on for a while now.

No, but they still managed to put five past BL.

Just for tonight, let's think that maybe we didn't allowe them to be any better. :)

Oh yeah. I remember now being shocked to hear of the sixth, as I thought it ended with five.

As you say, even better.

I think you can visibly see the difference in confidence of the team as a whole now, and yes let's hope they can carry this form into the PL. dare I say it, but we have a run of 5 or 6 fixtures where we should pick up a lot of points.

Veron seems to be playing with a lot more confidence. I wonder does Keanes absence have any bearing on this.

Team looks really happy and that's fantastic to see after so long. Again, could it be anything to do with Keano being out? Or Queiroz doing a good job?

Scholes is starting to click up front, more important, he seems to be really enjoying the responsibility of linking the game. He's been known to hide in games when he's in midfield, but he can't when he's up-front. If he can really get to grips with it, he's going to be completely devestating - Queiroz seems to be having a good effect on him.

Thought Veron had his best game for us tonight, he ran the game and showed the full range of his skill.

Feels good!

Common guys, a win is what we really need... Veron's from Vega too... so is Elvis...</strong><hr></blockquote>

I maintain what I said... Man of the match!

Hurrah! After Bolton I needed to prove that wasnt a bloody jinx. Cracking, if slightly damp, night at Old Trafford. I was high in North Tier 2, but right in line with Veron when he scored our best goal of the season so far.

They gave us space to play and Veron tore them apart. His all round passing, running, movement, and of course goal was superb. That'll give him more confidence, and that can only mean we will see even more great stuff from him

Veron - MOM - by a country mile - excellent.

Respect to the Greek fans, who never stopped singing (well apart from 2 minutes each time we scored). It was wierd seeing OT empty with 10 minutes still to play.

I know the Greeks dont travel well, but this was a really good team effort and a job well done.

Well there's your answer.

Use Veron in the European matches because he is obviously geared up for those, and gritty little British players for the PL.

Could it be anything to do with winning games? They didn't look so happy against Leeds and Bolton when Keano was out and Queiroz was coach.
