    DDG

    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw

    Mctom Fred

    Greenwood Pogba Rashford

    Martial

Greenwood in for James as the latter looks like he needs a rest. Even a partially fit Pogba is an upgrade on anything else we have at 10. We have missed his presence in the side some awful this season, especially against the low-block teams, so starting him today is a no-brainer to me.

I can see us going on a run and finishing in the top four if we can keep the above team fit for the duration of the season. That's a big if though.

We have to try something different.
Wan-Bissaka is rested. For next game rest Maguire and Rashford.
We'd get smashed with this line-up.

Hey where'd the opposition threads go? I don't see us getting anything from this match.

We're 19th or 20th in every single attacking stat(possession, shots, anything meaningful), which makes the "ooh Bruce is practically Keegan compared to Rafa" punditry confusing and confounding. Scored 18 goals in 18 games, 9 of them by our defenders. That kind of output is unsustainable and, bar Shelvey (somehow), our midfield and strikers have not stepped up at all.

What's helped Bruce, and really helped skew public opinion of him as positive, has been the fact that we're still defensively compact and well drilled - despite only scoring 18 we're still 9th with a just a -6 GD. So we'll nick the odd 1-0 or 2-0 inbetween failing to score or getting smashed.

We'll be tough to break down but I think in the end it will be 2-0 but we'll "put in a shift" and walk away "heads held high with the effort" or some such guff.

    I’d go 4141 for this:

    ......................DDG

    AWB Tuanzebe. Maguire. Williams

    ........................McT

    Greenwood. Mata. Pogba. Rashford

    .........................Martial

But I expect same 4231 formation just with Pogba in for Lingard.

I stopped them a while back as there wasn't much interest in them.

Thanks for the view. One goal from your strikers is ridiculous, and I'm fairly sure Joelinton's goal was early in the season as well. Was daft to bring Carroll back, and while Gayle does well in the Championship he isn't a Premier League footballer.

    I like this.
I'd have Fred along side Pogba but I don't rate Fred or Mata very high. Fred's had a decent run of games but still nowhere near United quality in my option. Mata's just past it. He comes in every 5-6 games and has a spell of good football and all of a sudden he's the second coming of Xavi.

I get we need to select the best that we have at our disposal though. We really are skint on options with so many congested matches.

For my selection I’d imagine that at home we’ll have the vast majority of possession, despite Newcastle’s good form. In this situation we need as much creativity we can on the pitch. I’d have McT as the ‘anchor’ with Pogba ahead and Mata as the full no. 10.

Have Pogba run beyond midfield and combine with Mata to break the deep lines of defence.

The barcodes almost always give us a hard game at OT. I still remember the day we absolutely battered them but Tim Krul turned into Superman.

Any soul who would PM me a great rushing brook would be greatly thumbed up.

United: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire (c), Shaw; McTominay, Fred; Greenwood, Andreas, Rashford; Martial.

Subs: Romero, Jones, Young, Lingard, Mata, Pogba, James.

Someday this MU team has to click. If it happens today I’ll be amazed. I reckon Brucie does us a favour and tells Shelvey and co to attack us all out. 5 -3 to United, one of those mental half-party, half-match you get this time of year. I’m hoping. Not a snooze fest with ideas and shots as rare as snow in the Sahara.

Pogba not starting and playing Periera instead after performance vs Watford ? Pretty weird.

If Andreas is the answer I dunno what the question is. Pogba..?
