Giggsy looking a bit lost with all the other coaches speaking dutch :p

Just imagine this sort of system with Di Maria/Cuadrado on the right and Vidal/De Jong in midfield alongside Herrera.

Ander and Mata are going to be awesome under van gaal and if we get another midfielder like vidal or strootman in jan, ohh my

Sometimes in my dreams we sign Javi Martinez and have an all Spanish midfield...

...its pure joy.

It has to be mentioned that Fletcher's playing very well, too. Herrera and Mata are running the show but Fletch is a marked improvement on last season. Good signs.

about the camera angle, remember this is the US. the press boxes and cameras are much higher which suits american football. think back to the world cup 94 (final was held here).

points of interest so far:

formation looks great. fantastic shape and balance. bar once in the first 5 minutes when a through ball cut us open on the right, we've looked totally in control.

great quick, incisive passing and movement.

herrera has been absolutely superb. running the show in midfield. mata likewise - he can be truly world class in this setup.

brilliant pressing all over the pitch. the intensity when we lose the ball is excellent and we're putting them under pressure everywhere.

rafael is going to be great in this system. vidal next to herrera would be something else.

Not sure where young Adders will fit into this system though.

He's not experienced enough yet to play where Mata is playing which would be his only natural position in this system.

(Although not sure if LVG is just experimenting or planning to use the 3-5-2 all the time)

Our centre backs are a joke. Get de Vrij and Hummels in.

Can Smalling go a few games without picking up injury please? so frustrating.

I hope we see Rafael on for Valencia in the second half. I want to see how he does as a wing back.

Same here. I think he will be brilliant. He does enough attacking as a full back. He will love being a wing back.

It has to be mentioned that Fletcher's playing very well, too. Herrera and Mata are running the show but Fletch is a marked improvement on last season. Good signs.

Yep, just because he hasn't shown the technical ability and deft touches as Herrera has done, he has been criticised on here. But he doesn't need to do that, his been solid in his role.
