Juventus Football Club Società per azioni, colloquially known as Juve, and nicknamed La Vecchia Signora (The Old Lady), is a professional Italian football club in Turin, Piedmont. Juventus were founded as Sport-Club Juventus in late 1897 by pupils from the Massimo D'Azeglio Lyceum school in Turin, but were renamed as Foot-Ball Club Juventus two years later. The club joined the Italian Football Championship during 1900. In 1904, the businessman Ajmone-Marsan revived the finances of the football club Juventus, making it also possible to transfer the training field from piazza d'armi to the more appropriate Velodrome Umberto I. FIAT owner Edoardo Agnelli (whose grandson Andrea is currently Chairman of Juventus F.C.) gained control of the club in 1923 and built a new stadium. This helped the club to its second scudetto (league championship) in the 1925–26 season, and the club established itself as a major force in Italian football since the 1930s, becoming the country's first professional club and the first with a decentralised fan base.

One of the most successful clubs in club football, Juventus have won 34 official league titles, 13 Coppa Italia titles and seven national Super Cups titles, being the record holder for all these competitions; two Intercontinental Cups, two European Cups / UEFA Champions Leagues, one European Cup Winners' Cup, a national record of three UEFA Cups, two UEFA Super Cups and one UEFA Intertoto Cup. Consequently, the side leads the historical Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC) ranking whilst on the international stage occupies the 4th position in Europe and the eight in the world for most confederation titles won with eleven trophies, having led the UEFA ranking during seven seasons since its inception in 1979, the most for an Italian team and joint second overall — with Carlo Carcano, Giovanni Trapattoni, Marcello Lippi, Antonio Conte and current manager Massimiliano Allegri being the most successful — and the likes of Michel Platini, Omar Sívori, John Charles, Gaetano Scirea, Zinedine Zidane, Gianluigi Buffon, Alessandro Del Piero, Pavel Nedvěd and Dino Zoff donning the illustrious Black and Whites jersey.

Juventus have significant rivalries with two clubs, Turin club Torino (with matches between them termed the Derby della Mole) and Internazionale (with matches between them termed the Derby d'Italia) — with another rivalry vs. Milan being predicated on their status as the two most titled teams in Italy. The club plays its home games at the Juventus Stadium (commercially known as the Allianz Stadium of Turin).

First big European game at OT we've hand since Moyes v Bayern, feels like a lifetime ago

From Stamford Bridge to Hastings... a make-or-break game in this CL campaign.

If we can play like we have in the 2nd half of Newcastle and Chelsea, I reckon we could snatch a win. Not particularly keen on Lukaku starting, but we all know he will...

Lukaku will be eaten alive by those Juve defenders

    Team should be...

    ---------------De Gea---------------
    Valencia--Smalling--Lindelof--Shaw
    -------Matic------------Pogba-------
    Sanchez-------Mata-------Martial
    ---------------Lukaku---------------

Subs: Romero, Dalot, Bailly, Herrera, Fellaini, Fred, Rashford

Well at least we're going into this with some confidence now (or should be), after a good performance. Hopefully we can put in a good one at home now. Hopefully we also go on the front foot. Obviously Juventus have some quality players but they dont go out and dominate big games ever, they set out defensively a lot and at Old Trafford, we should take advantage of that. Would drop Lukaku and bring Valencia in, keep some consistency with the rest though.

    De Gea
    Valencia Lindelof Smalling Shaw
    Fred Matic Pogba
    Mata
    Martial Rashford

    De Gea
    Young Smalling Lindelöf Shaw
    Herrera
    Mata Pogba
    Rashford Sanchez Martial

Want to see continuity in defense. Also, Lukaku & Matic dropped. Would be happy with a point.

Sigh... another game I won't be able to watch because of Tv2 and Canal Digital.

That is the team we should be playing, so much dynamism and energy. Jose and his favourites like Matic and Lukaku are hurting the team at the moment.

Rathet see someone else for Young, but I’d go with that as well, that’s a side with pace and with players who have something to prove.
Good enough to beat Juventus at home.

We have some momentum and at home we can win this.

Good team. You could even play Fred instead of Herrera. He played DM for Shakhtar I heard. We shouldn't play Lukaku at all. The Juve defence are too clever for him. The pace of Martial and Rashford will scare them and Sanchez can play false 9 with less running to do and have more shooting opportunities like he used to do before.

    Looking forward to it now.

In an ideal world we could drop out Lindelof, Matic and Lukaku, but we all know that isn't happening.

    Juve drew 1-1 against Genoa

They didn’t look that good tbh. Dybala, Ronaldo, Costa, Bernardeschi, and Pjanic were all playing at the end of the game yet they couldn’t break Genoa down.

That’s only one game, of course.

They did win all their games prior to that one

Nothing to be afraid of. Great team and great players but we can definitely beat them.

SUBS - Fred (Fellaini), Sanchez (Mata), Rashford (Martial)

    Man United 0 - 2 Juventus

Mourinho will be desperate to get Fellaini back for this one to combat Manduzkic at set pieces.

We are a million miles away from Juventus. This will be a comfortable loss for us. Expect Ronaldo to score at least once.

I said earlier this week in the match day thread for Chelsea that the best think that can happen to us is if we are down 1-0 to CFC at half time. It's the only way that our players play hard. When we are winning or drawing at halftime, the 2nd half performance is always poor.

With this in mind, I'd like us to go in 1-0 down at half time and have exactly the same crowd support we had during that Newcastle game.
Under these circumstances, I think that we can win the match.

If Juve go ahead at around 70 minutes, we are screwed as Jose can't have his half time talk, which appears to be the only way to fire up our players to play in top gear.
Lord knows what Jose says at half time which completely changes our style of play in the 2nd half (when we are behind).

The atmosphere is going to be electric and this will be a fantastic match. This won't be a 0-0 draw.

Erm no, I am not going to be rooting for us to concede just to stage a heroic comeback.

Would like a victory, but this seems like a 1-1. Anyway, I think if we draw both Juve games and beat Valencia away, we are through.

We should just ask UEFA to give Juve a
    0-1 headstart.

I think we will win. Gutted we didn’t see that game through today we deserved to.

Jose should have the squad on form when it comes to the champions league this season, I believe he can get the players up for it.

We are game raisers. We did this so many times last year against the better teams, I lost count.
Against relegation battlers, we lose. It is utterly bizarre.
Today's match against CFC was exactly in line with this theory. CFC who I think won every match until today, were brimming with confidence looking to spank us.

I have yet to see any team able to beat us when we hit top gear - Spurs, MCFC, CFC, LFC.
The only question is, "will we hit top gear?"

We should just ask UEFA to give Juve a
    0-1 headstart.

I know it sounds utterly silly, but that would work in our favour LOL.
Unless we are behind, the intensity with which we play is so low, our players almost stand still. I commented this in today's CFC match (in the first half).
What the hell does Jose say to our players at half time, which makes them play so hard in the 2nd half?

However he acts after he scores it won’t matter, I’m going to end-up getting progressively angrier with Ronaldo

They said the same about Chelsea. We have very good players, just a not-so-good team. If our players turn up, then we have a very good chance of winning.
