Manchester United vs Inter Milan (Sat 20th July, 12:30 UK time)

I don't understand this high press with a 2 man midfield. Pogba cannot get into the game enough and no surprise it’s still 0-0.
I like the first sentence but not sure about the second one. Pogba has been fine.

When Inter play past our attack and midfield, the defense has been too low. Seen many examples of the gap between defense and attack being too far apart causing issues for Pogba and Matic but i'm sure it'll improve as we get closer to the season kicking off.

As for the half, decent overall performance but on an individual basis not so much. Wan-Bissaka is a star. Pogba doing well. Matic, Lingard and James need to improve. Matic got better as the half progressed, Lingard mostly anonymous and James didn't do much right. I do like the fact James always gets into positions on the counter with his pace, though. Dunno why he isn't tested more as corner taker after Jones' goal in the last game. Martial and Rashford occupying the same spaces. I wish Shaw would get higher up the pitch but i was saying that all last season, not sure it will ever improve. Good run for the cross to Rashford but he needs to be getting in those positions more often.

Our pressing is very encouraging overall.

Why will he lose his speed? Have you seen a top level sprinters build?

Maybe I’m wrong about that, it’s just my impression from seeing some players bulk up, Depay for example. Still, he isn’t ready to be a first teamer, too lightweight at this stage.

AVP "The Viper", what a player. Incredible timing, sharp on the ball, sharp on the tackle, huge energy and pace. Looks like a huge asset.

Well I probably worded it wrong but Pogba was good, we just need him on the ball more because without him we are not going to create much.

You're saying you don't understand a pressing game with our current set up, but it's pretty clearly been a 3 man midfield with Lingard as the most advanced mid and they're all pressing pretty normally? Pogba's been on the ball plenty as well, not sure what the issue is. He probably has more touches than anyone else.
I think the problem is that if Pogba is on the ball higher up the pitch he has that x factor to open defences. When he is playing deeper while he is still effective but we lose something in the final third.

I think that will change when we bring Gomes into that No 10 position. He will still press the ball the way Jesse does but he has a bit more quality in bisecting the opposition defence.

I have no problem with easing Angel into the team though. This is not quick fix. It should be a long term plan that we build up over the next season to see where we are going into the 2020-2021 season and beyond.

What a run! Brilliant by Martial. James' shot blocked unfortunately. Would have been a great goal

Pogba man  I really hope this is him for the season and not just the shop window
