Manchester United vs Dortmund (Mon 31st July, 02:00 UK time)

Wait what the hell, we are 2 weeks from the season and just the 1 real friendly left, why not give the starters 60 minutes here? Weird choice

DVB over Hannibal. Great team selection there by ETH.
Probably trying to put him in the shop window. More or less confirms his first choice team is :

Onana
AWB, Varane, Martinez, Shaw
Casemiro
Bruno, Mount
Antony, Hojlund, Rashford.

I think we all knew it would be this anyway barring the RB spot which seems like AWB is the first choice.

Ok, that line-up actually pissed me off.
Every bit of excitement that I had - gone. Wouldn't have minded if most of these players were subbed in at 60 minute mark, but the fact that this is the starting line-up...disappointed.

Love the line-up, means I'm not tempted to stay up to watch this.

Heaton
Dalot Maguire Lindelof Williams
McT Eriksen
Pellistri VDB Forson
Sancho

If we assume this is EtH's idea of the second XI, I suppose it confirms some things we already knew about the default first XI.

What's the bench? The big boys coming on at half time?

Also, McT over Maguire as captain even for a friendly is funny

Bishop, Onana, Evans, Fernandez, Martinez, Shaw, Wan-Bissaka, B. Fernandes, Casemiro, Gore, Hannibal, Mount, Antony, Hugill, Rashford.

Possibly
Onana
AWB Evans Martinez Shaw
Case Mount
Antony Bruno Garnacho
Rashford

Though we've never actually seen Mount tried at #6 since he came to the club. We'll have to wait and see.

No Varane is a worry.

Im loving that line up because I can go to sleep as I’m already knackered.

It was necessary. You can't take the captaincy away from him only to give it back a couple of weeks later. That would have caused a lot more controversy.

Just one small thing - you highlighted the bench and then put Garnacho into the second half line-up. :smirk:
I do wonder why he's absent though.

Good spot!

Maybe Mount back at #10 and Hannibal at #6 then, with a couple of others shifted around? Or Hugill occupying the role Hojlund is going to have soon.

I hope Mount is a little deeper, though, because when we bought him I assumed Mount would be playing closer to midfield than he has done so far in preseason. I don't think he's a better #10 than Bruno at all.

Pretty much alle the players up for sale. Maybe that's actually the point.

Didn't even notice  also, shrinking his name to make room for the C is slightly annoying

Like you'll be getting any sleep with a new baby in the house

Baby is currently unwell in hospital as she was 11 weeks premature and caught a viral infection. I'm home on older baby duties and he's good till 9am.

Stayed up for both the Wrexham and Madrid defeats. I'm staying up for this one as well and was more confident until I saw the starting line up.

Hope Varane and Garnacho haven't picked up any injuries. And disappointed that Hannibal can't even make it into the 2nd string line up. Hopefully he'll be one of the changes in the 2nd half - though I'm not confident, despite him impressing this pre-season whenever he's featured.

Rookie question, but who pays for this guy's airfare, tickets and lodging - the club or the BBC?

Seems like a waste either way
The TV tax payers I'd imagine. First Class flights and 5 star hotels all the way, unless there's a 6 available.
