There's something about this fixture that makes me worried.

It's a league cup match, what is there to be worried about? We get knocked out of a Mickey Mouse cup and have less fixtures down the road. The horror.

    potential banana skin.

People just realizing this now? Should have realized it when half the squad was going to Qatar and the full Burnley squad got to train together for the last month and had 2 league matches that last 10 days

    Looking forward to this one

will no doubt be very annoyed at half-time

First game in over a month and I'll be sat in Hershey Arena watching Trans Siberian Orchestra. FML.

I would go Dubrvaka, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Malacia, McTominay, Fred, Bruno, Antony, Rashford, Martial.

Ideally I'd keep Bruno out at risk of burnout due to accumulation of games for club and country, but we can't afford that as we turn to shit without him. Not concerned about the others who have barely played.

I’ve seen a lot of Burnley this year. They are really impressive. A lot of players from City’s youth systems and guys VK handpicked from Belgium.

The Championship isn’t an easy League to play in. Like it’s not like the average Serie A, La Liga or PL team press much better than the Championship teams. It’s really impressive that Burnley manage to play up as well as they do from the back. Muric in goal and Harwood-Bellis definitely stand out there.

But — it’s of course not a complete team. They got into really huge problems in a game against Sheff Utd just before Christmas. They let up 4 goals during a period of 14 minutes. If you get them out of their comfort zone, they are really hollow.

I think many PL teams would have problems with Burnley, but I do think they fit us pretty well. First of all, we are at this point at team that is fairly good at keeping possession of the ball ourselves (although we definitely will miss Martinez a lot). And while we certainly will struggle in that sense for periods tonight, we are still really good on the counter attack.

Rashford, Martial, Bruno, Antony and co — whomever starts — are elite offensive players. Even if Burnley plays the pants off us for stretches — which I definitely can see happening since we will be really subpar at playing up from the back with DDG, Maguire and Lindelof — I still think we can hurt Burnley pretty badly when we get the chance. Even if Burnley wins the battle for possession, we just shouldn’t give up more than 1 goal and we should be able to score a couple. The only way I see us losing this game is if Burnley manage get at least a couple of easy goals.

Burnley are flying high at the moment in the Championship so they'll also be focused on not disrupting that.

Did the line up prediction game’s entries get closed earlier this time? I thought it was 2 hours before the KO.

I’m not sure of this notion that players who actually played at the World Cup shouldn’t play, and those who have barely played any football for 6 weeks are somehow in a better condition to start a game than those who are match fit. Could someone please explain the logic to me?
Agreed, I don't get it, really. Those done after the groups had three games and lots of rest. The only ones I could really see needing an extra few days would be those playing in the championship and 3rd/4th place games.

Some of these guys who went to the World Cup probably want to get the disappointment out of the system, play a game as soon as possible and get that winning feeling back.

When are the lineups released officially please? I know in the PL it is 1 hour before KO is it the same in the Carabou Cup?

I want to put a couple of quid on this - but only after the lineups been stated.

Yeah, I think it is only the European fixtures where the lineups come out slightly earlier (70-75 mins before KO instead of 60)

Thank you, I shall look at 7.01pm then before I make my guess.

    Yeah, I don’t think we’ll win this.

McT LW judging by the graphics.

    Dubravka
    Lindelof - Fernandes - Martial - Rashford
    Malacia - Eriksen
    Casemiro - Bissaka - McTominay
