Manchester United vs Athletic Bilbao (Sun 6th August, 16:00 UK time)

Maguire's mistake but the goal was still avoidable. Looks like the left back was outrun by the goalscorer.

Good to hear Fernandez is playing well. Not sure whether I'd prefer he stays or that we get him a good loan. Depends on when Malacia's back I guess
Ah, I didn't realise Malacia's injured..

Just don't want him wasting on the bench.

Is it just me or have we generally looked more gelled and a bit sharper when the second string is out this preseason
I don't think this was very good. First team looked better yesterday by a considerable maargin.

Sancho looked decent, but he should considering that he cost 70 million pounds and this Bilboa team lost against Celtic.

Not sure our deficiencies as a team can carry Eriksen this season, legs look gone and not the usual passing accuracy

It's not, he's been shocking. No idea why he's even back at the club.

Least he doesn’t cost us a goal every time he’s on the pitch, I’d happy have him as a 4th/5th choice CB. Maguire’s done here, people need to accept it. Unfortunately shifting him on becomes even harder with every appearance he makes.

If we want to sell Maguire and Van de Beek we need to get them off the pitch, they look awful.
Luke Chadwick looking good, nice to see him involved in the punditry.

I think Donny has looked great this preseason. He has been thriving in that role he has been given. Sancho has also looked class, would like to see them both involved more this season. Fernández is another player who could potentially be given some gametime if he stays at the club.

Maguire has the reverse midas touch where everything he touches ends up as a disaster.

Maguire is going nowhere, but can we afford to play him in PL games

I hope it was the last half in the United shirt for Van De Bench and The Captain.

in the first half the first team yesterday was diabolical in my opinion. Night and day compared to our 45 here.

Positives so far are Fernandez, AWB, Gore and Sancho. Beek and Pellistri have had some moments. Eriksen, Maguire and Forson have been disappointing.

Honestly anything I've seen in pre-season has made me think that we're gonna get ran through so, so many times this year and concede a feck ton of goals that way.

On about become the best transition team in the world and yet we're getting done every time we make a mistake.

Fernandez is very good offensively, but needs work on the defensive side, slides in too early. Gore's positioning and passing range is great. Pellistri has impressed again, I want him to be part of the squad, but maybe a loan is better for his development. Sancho looks good again, really hope he can carry on in the games that matter.

Yes, everything he touches turns shit, sadly :( Lukaku touch was like prime Ronaldinho in comparison

I think Donnie's biggest issue seems to be timing his runs. Has been caught in or created too many off side positions in the first half. But I like the energy and threat he's showing. Eriksen has been too slow to connect with him though unfortunately.

Yeah why we need Amarabat in, more mobile in there. Think Amarabat comes in Eriksen goes down the pecking order for midfield options. Think we will see Amarabat get more games/minutes then him. Sad the legs are gone, like Eriksen as player.

They must be. Wan Bissaka did absolutely nothing wrong there, but you still see these posts:

I mean, how can anyone watch that passage of play and seriously try to make AWB culpable
What the feck have they been watching.

Fernandez is a weird player in that he’s brilliant on the ball, but not explosive enough to be a flying touchline fullback nor is he quick enough to be a Shaw type technical progressor that can be relied upon as a third CB. It’s almost like someone should have moved him into midfield years ago but at this point it’s too late.

I’m not sure what his best role is.
