Arsenal Football Club (also known as The Gunners), are a professional football club based in Holloway, London. In late 1886, a gaggle of workers from the Woolwich Arsenal Armament Factory decided to form a football team. They called themselves Dial Square as a reference to the sundial atop the entrance to the factory. On December 11, 1886, Dial Square romped to a 6-0 victory over Eastern Wanderers; the first game in their initial guise. Shortly afterwards the name ‘Royal Arsenal’ was adopted. Today, Arsenal are one of the most successful and popular clubs in the history of the English league, with a trophy haul than includes 13 League titles, 12 FA Cups, and 2 League Cups.

When Henry Norris decided that Arsenal needed a new manager in the summer of 1925, he could never have anticipated the impact of his next appointment. After flirting with relegation in the previous season, Chapman set about reinventing the Club with almost immediate effect, and in a broader sense helped move football from the amateur era into a professional one. In his first season at Highbury, the new manager steered the Gunners to an FA Cup Quarter Final and a second-place finish in the First Division; the highest league placing in their history. And unlike many of his contemporaries in Britain, Chapman was a fan of the continental game and counted among his friends Hugo Meisl and Jimmy Hogan, coaches of the Austrian Wunderteam of the 1930s.

In the mid '90s, they appointed another visionary in Arsène Wenger with former vice-chairman David Dein bringing him to the club in 1996 - Dein actually wanted to appoint him a year earlier before Bruce Rioch but the old school board did not want a foreign manager - and the next 20 years have been a remarkable and unforgettable period in the club’s history - with Arsenal building a reputation for playing an attractive, streamlined style of football that rivals some of the best teams in Europe while winning three league titles and seven FA Cups and boasting the likes of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira, Robert Pirès, Cesc Fàbregas and Robin Van Persie in their ranks.

The club plays its home games at the Emirates Stadium, and has a bitter sporting rivalry with neighbors Tottenham Hotspur in a match termed the North London Derby, apart from a competitive rivalry against the other major clubs of the Premier League, especially Manchester United — in an affair that peaked in the late 1990s to early 2000s period.

    They'll smash us, I imagine.

The Sociedad return game is a lot more important. Would be fine with Amorim resting a few players.

I’d be fine with him resting everybody who will play next Thursday. Go all in on the Europa League

Really wish Amorim had spoken more positively about it. Winning the Europa league still makes the season memorable despite finishing 15th

Probably the most meaningless Man United v Arsenal Premier League game ever. Arsenal have blown whatever chance they had of a title push and will finish in the top four. Man United won't be getting relegated and have no chance of finishing the season in league spot that will get European football.

With that in mind those that played all of extra time Sunday and again tonight need resting for this game with the priority next Thursday v Sociedad. A players with injuries/knocks should not be risked in this game.

    Zirkzee
    Bruno Garnacho
    Amass Collyer Ugarte Dalot
    Heaven Maguire Mazraoui
    Onana

Rest de Ligt and Yoro. Bring on Obi at some point instead of Bruno/Garnacho/Zirkzee. We're losing this either way, better give minutes to couple of academy players. Wouldn't start Bruno but he always starts games.

Sky building this up earlier showing the tunnel incident with Keane . Hilarious comparison to be honest with this bunch of over paid average players

    Onana
De Ligt - Maguire - Yoro
    Mazraoui - Casemiro - Ugarte - Dalot
    Bruno - Collyer
    Zirkzee

Hojlund may as well play, I'd rather rest Zirkzee and you can't rest everyone.

Garnacho should play he's not played a full 90 for a while so should be amongst the fittest of the senior players

Kinda weird one this game. Both sides may as well start prioritising European football now seeing as there's nothing to play for in the league anymore.

If i was both i would just start the bench.

Hard to see a good result here. Morale is still garbage, we really needed a confidence booster today. The lineup sadly picks itself, as there are very few alternatives.

    Hojlund
    Zirkzee Garnacho
    Dalot Bruno Ugarte Mazraoui
    Yoro De Ligt Lindelof
    Onana

    Park that bus!

Wish there was an option to rest a few players so that they are fresh for the more important Europa game mid-week. Doesn't look like anyone is going to be back, especially an attacking player.

This is what I'd go for:

    Onana
    de Ligt Maguire Yoro
    Maz Ugarte Collyer Dalot
    Bruno Garnacho
    Zirkzee

Don't see him resting many as some are suggesting, we will be blown away either way though.

    Onana
De Ligt - Megs - Yoro
    Maz - Ugarte - Casemiro - Dalot
    Zirkzee - Bruno
    Hojlund
I assume Megs and Ugarte will come right back into the line-up. Only change I see is Collyer and Garnacho.

We should rest the whole team. But the cunundrum is that a big loss would spark ”the worst ever”-debate even further. Media would love that and the outside view of United would be even more downgraded. Commercial and public relations is already down the drain.

    What a mess.

Genuinely think the squad are knackered but we can't rotate the team and it will never be an all kids XI so realistically best we can hope for is we sit deep and don't try and win the game, conserve energy and focus Europa as horrible as that sounds.

Rotate wherever possible. The game is borderline irrelevant, Thursday is what matters.

Eriksen, Lindelof, Collyer, whoever get them in and rest some players.

Not easy I know given so few to choose from.

Don't care about this game at all. Just don't get battered and don't get injured and I'll be ok

I would play the kids, we will likely lose anyway and Thursday is more important - our players looked dead on their feet for the final twenty minutes yesterday.

Might not even bother watching our remaining league games. Save myself the time and stress. Having said that I bet I’ll struggle not to watch!

Part of me would play both Hojlund and Zirkzee to see whether they can start getting some goals, but another part of me thinks this is not the priority at the moment and we don't want to risk further injuries.

Id absolutely be tempted to play Chido Obi, Amass, Heaven, Kukonki, Moorhouse, Fletcher and the like.

Going to miss this game as away to watch my local team Hibs playing in the Scottish Cup 1/4 finals against Celtic at Celtic Park.

It genuinely will not shock me one bit if I check the score and see that we have won. Thursday though is the priority as nothing for us to play for in the league.

With so few options available it will be a case of picking the 11 players who are not knackered or injured.

    The manager has zero options.

I’m not even sure Obi should get any minutes for this one. Why give Arsenal the can’t to kick him.

They would get spanked and at home for their debuts. That's not experience that's throwing a match

    6-0 mauling incoming
Unsure why are fans posting this?

I expect Utd to sit back and be very tight, creating nothing but not letting us create either. With us having no strikers I can't imagine any type of mauling happening. I do expect us to win but wouldn't be surprised if we dropped points at all.

Don't think it's inconceivable that we get a draw here, but we will need to limit them to one goal to get anything.

Bring Lindelof, Collyer, Eriksen and Heaven in, freshen the team up ahead of Thursday. Be tempted to play Obi from the start just to piss them off a bit!
