I'm glad Diego's first goal in open play was a goal that mattered and not in a meaningless European or Worthington Cup match. Hopefully, this will get him going.

We're paying the price of Ruud's absence, and Keano and Butt's injuries...

How was Seba today?

The lad has great timing - he could have had a hat trick though, but he saved us from being defeated.

Some of our best players are probably tired (internationals, CL etc...). They will be rested vs Haifa. Our team should look better next week.

From the MatchTracker it would appear that Dreadful would be the best description. Never seen MatchTracker lay into someone like that before.

Very true. Hopefully knowing that he can contribute when it really counts will help to doubly boost his confidence. May he never snip those golden locks!!! :D

Wish I could be. The worst thing about your argument is that we will not be making the best of it when Poo drop their points - not if we continue with this crap performances (we'll be too far away in any case). Wish I could be more optimistic but the lads are not performing - and we must admit it. Despite all the injuries I still think we can play better than this.

so fecking pool won.. and we draw...it's still not the end of United road. The season is still a long way to go. Have faith!

There's an Arse fan on TalkSport chucking a right wobbler saying that the referee's are against them and that is why they keep losing. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

Well now that he has scored an important goal from open play we will be able to judge whether he's going to make it here or not.

The next few games will be vital.

MUTV have just said that despite the goal, it was actually one of his worst performances in a United shirt, and his control was very poor.

They beat us to second

Yes. But only after we hauled them back and were in front.

a 'manchester united fan' phoned up TalkSport and said fergie should get sacked... and that we should have bought Anelka..

the funny thing is that he spoke in a moss side accent.. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

why do siddy fans bother? <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

We really needed to win today wit the arse slipping up..unfortunately we go behind by a further 2pts. and its over that 6 pts barrier.

Nice to see diego score. Hope theres more to come, esp when ruud is injured. Yea n i do agree we shud look better next week with all the players been rested for the haifa game.

Southampton at home, MUST WIN!!! <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" /> <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

It proves that it's possible to haul them back.

it's also going to be important that once we haul them back, we must be able to sustain our place. we couldn't do it last year.. it may have been the first time in so long we couldn't hold a position in the league once we reach it..

anyway, i think we're hitting rock bottom in terms of league performances and we'll be looking upwards soon.

True, but we've got Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle and City in the space of about a month, do u really think we'll beat all of them on this form?

I don't think so. He gave the ball away less than I thought he would, and he was our main ball winner too. He's improving. Slowly, but surely.

My best players were Diego, Rio and Seba. Overall it was a crap performance though.

Yes, but...

The problem is you can go on a big winning streak when you're 10 points behind and after your streak you may be 2 points ahead.

Problem is, that once your winning streak is over (they all end some time), you start dropping points again and get overtaken again.

The real problem is that you started too far behind to be able to finish on top in this case. And you don't have to fall behind much further this season to be in the exact same situation. Defeat at Main Road and a draw to Saints and/or Toon would pretty much do the job... if Liverpool win their games that is...

TRM.

I don't care if it was a bad game, that we played shit and that Villa scored their first goal at OT.

Arsenal's unbeaten streak lasted 30+ games.
We have the capability of doing it if we had a fully fit squad.
Before any scousers or Arse fans start saying we are just moaning, how many times can you remember 4 big name stars having operations in the first 3 months of the season. Not to mention players like Ruud, Giggs, Seba, Becks all having niggly little injuries. It's got to stupid proportions, these sort of problems would push any squad in the World to the limit.

It showed against Villa, we badly missed Giggsy on the left and some-one like Keano or Butt in the centre to grab the game and drive it forward when we start to struggle.
