Manchester United Kits 2017/18

I wasn't liking the random black cuffs on the new home shirt. They didn't appear to tie in with anything, and seemed a lazy afterthought to get some black in the kit. However, now I see that the new home shorts have black stripes instead of the usual red it all begins to make sense! Excellent effort!

Where have you seen the home shorts ? I can't find any leaks of them.

They have a picture of them over on that Fred Tissue forum. Am I allowed to link to there?

If so, here;

I'm on the fence with the new away kit. I'm possibly in a minority, as I believe that the original 1990-92 away shirt was one of the worst we've ever had, and probably the main reason United immediately switched to Umbro.

This new one is a lot better than the blue one from the 1990s. I actually think Adidas view the design as synonymous with the revival of Manchester United as a major force, the early 90s were essentially the club getting back to the top.

Maybe, but I associate that kit with the ugliness and excess of late 80s/early 90s fashion design and the surrendering of the title to Leeds.

This version is better than the original, with the exception of the sponsor's logo. How nobody back in 1990 mentioned the fact that from any distance the shirt appeared to be City blue, I'll never know.

I have always thought this as well.

Agreed.

Blue and blue are two very similar colours.

I don't like the buttoned up neck on this one. If they had a plain neck, like this year's kit, it would have been better imo. Otherwise it's a simple, clean design which I like. Remember we're getting sponsors on the sleeves as well, which is most likely the reason the Adidas stripes stop at the shoulder.

I remember it most for ...

I quite like the new kit but most the other 40 year old virgins like myself would prefer one of these as a throwback ...

Saw a lot of people wearing the new black shirt at Old Trafford tonight and it looks class to be fair.

ffs, the white stripes on the shoulders are back. I was hoping they were moving away from that.

The patterns on the black kit look shite too.

You were hoping Adidas were moving away from stripes on the shoulders?

Haven't they used shoulder stripes since the 60's. I don't think it's something they'll be moving away from.

This year's adidas kits have them down the side of the torso. I was hoping it was a sign of things to come in that they realised how unnecessary/shite/in your face they are.

They'll do that every few years i'm sure but they'll always go back to the stripes down the arms, it's their trademark.

Not a fan of the pattern on the shirt, but at least when watching a game you are not likely to notice it to much. I did have to laugh at the fact Herrera in the group photo appears to be wearing a different version, with solid black from the shoulder coming out from the center.

Home shirt looks lovely. I'm usually a fan of black kits, but that away shirt just hasn't grown on me yet.

Guess so, are Ajax at home yes?

Yup.

Just hope it won't be a repeat of last season. The club sold home shirts with the FA Cup final embroidery because they were out of the white one  I collect (winning) final shirts so I'll be well pissed if that happens again

I'm never that invested in our kits really, the new ones look alright but that's my general feeling on most of our kits. I do bloody love a black kit though, so that's something I guess. Let's hope next season sees more brilliance on the field though and less brilliance in the video marketing and social media crap. And yes, I know the players are obliged to do these things but it just rubs me the wrong way a little.

I like our new kits. What worries me thogh: Have we ever won the league wearing Adidas?
Umbro and Nike.

I don't know who made the shirts "back in the day". I'm guessing they were made by local firms in black and white with bushy moustaches and waistcoats smoking pipes.

No, I agree, terrible shirt. That pic of Giggsy is actually flattering, it looked fecking awful in real time. It's nostalgia for nostalgias sake. People lap that shit up regardless of whether the thing they're being nostalgic about was ever any good in the first place. Give it a couple years and a 'tribute' to our grey kit will probably be seen as the height of retro cool.

I'm not even in my 40s, but feck yeah. Lovely kit.

Yeah, that blue adidas kit with the white is gorgeous. Instead of it being blue, a yellow/gold kit with the white would be amazing! Or vice versa.

Unfortunately, I associate the Chevrolet-logo with american cars. And american cars with the 80ies. And the 80ies with... ugh.

However, except the logo, all the versions look ok to me.
