Manchester United 3:1 Crystal Palace (Tue 19th July, 11:10 UK time)

Little bit disappointed to see the same old same old (with the exception of Malacia). He says that he will give some of the players 60 minutes. At least that must mean that some of the younger players will get some time with the first team.
sure I can’t believe martinez and eriksen aren’t starting

Interesting. ETH said he wasn't happy (not those words exactly) with the right side in the Liverpool game so put Dalot in, then said the same about the left side after the Melbourne game and now we see Malacia start. Seems like getting on top of our full back options is his priority atm.

Yeah that's nonsense, Shaw is twice the player Malacia is at the moment

The goal against Melbourne Victory was triggered by Shaw doing his random walk down the ground. I'm not sure if that was part of the plan to press or not, but the way they cut us through was just too simple to be easily passed through. I'm sure he wants to see how Malacia will perform with the first team.

The moaning over a line-up in preseason game... We know we have a top cb and midfielder coming in with, hopefully, a world-class CM joining as well.

Realistically McFred are starting now lads but with Eriksen and possibly FDJ I doubt they will both be nailed on starters throughout the season.

I’d expect Fred, Eriksen, Bruno as things stand and then potentially FDJ, Eriksen, and Bruno if we get Frankie over the line.

God forbid fans would want to see two exciting young players with the starters:lol:
Im not denying its exciting to see academy talent given a chance.

Im saying there are other more important considerations involved.

He has started this team 3 times now, it's most likely his starting line up, maybe Lisandro comes in but this is the 3rd manager that is using a very similar team.
With the same squad though… can’t use anyone els when we don’t have them. We’ve got 2 new signings waiting at home and possibly another 1/2 will come in.

When you’re hoping to see Varane and Bailly but guess whose playing instead

I actually despise Lindelof and Maguire more than McFred.

Yes, but the players like Donny who everyone thought would walk in over Bruno hasn't happened.

This is probably going to be his starting 11 so the more he plays them together the more they get up to speed with the system.

Still undecided on Shaw/Malacia. Also let's wait what the plan is for Martinez and Eriksen.

But yeah apart from that and with no further signings it won't be much different. Not good enough. Top 4 will be a huge challenge. ETH will have to be a magician to make these get into the CL places.

Nah we were on the verge of top 4 right up until the end last season.

Even the additions we’ve made + Ten Hag is enough to challenge for top 4 at this point.

ETH kept talking of weakness (or at least lack of threat) from the left side. Possibly realized pasta belly was the root cause.
That's the issue. He's literally twice the player.

Seriously the fascination with an elite athlete's body type has to stop on here. This is the tone that's used all over this forum when Shaw is mentioned. The guy is widely regarded as one of the best LBs in the PL. Have you nothing more constructive to comment on?

Anybody else slightly disappointed that we won't see certain youngsters again? Seems a bit harsh to take them and not give them a chance. How many players on tour haven't played a single minute yet?

Who specifically? Fish?

Nah. Those who have the slightest chance of making it here were given chances so far. And they did pretty well.
