Manchester United 2:2 Steven Gerrard's Villa (Sat 23rd July, 10:45 UK time)

Terrible conditions but that second half display from the starters, especially midfield and defence was an exact copy everything that was wrong with us last season.

He needs to either make it look a proper foul or be much braver.

He just sort of semi jumps in mid air and does neither.
Yeah, he was complaining to the ref afterwards, and for me it was a foul, but you're right,
he needs to either go down properly or just go through the player.

Is it written into our players' contracts that they must give the ball away off every throw-in?

Good game that. Will take some work of course to develop resilience for the squad to know how to calm things down when the opposition starts taking control. But a lot of good play from the first team and happy with that. Good intensity to the game.

2nd team... Let's hope we hold on

I'm sorry but trying to get a sense of the balls direction on this pitch is really difficult. Its bobbling all over the place.

Incredible that people are still giving shit to those concerned about our lack of real quality signings.

Hannibal is such a hilarious footballer, he's one of the most easily wound up players I've ever seen, he'll pick up about 500 red cards throughout his career.

Commentator suggesting playing it long….feck me.

Telles CM and Hannibal Striker..

Agreed, we've not strengthened nearly enough, it's completely unacceptable.

Never seen a player like that for us. He always looks really pissed off. It's pretty weird.
