Manager draft

I think you can safely pick. No chance of Pep's player overlapping with yours (or Balu's for that matter)
There's not much TRV can do to improve his side anyway. Unless he all of a sudden prefers Villa or a different centerback in the team.

Yeah. This should be the end of the road for him. MJJ advancing would have been much more interesting (Or Ideally a Rinus' side since that would have stopped Edgar hogging all the super dutch player) with likes of Zidane/Davids added in.

well, my picks are not a surprise anymore :(

I would have loved Trap, Capello, Lattek and Michels as the final four teams, would have made for the most interesting games. I actually thought about starting my game with a crazy gung-ho 235 to make sure I go out and one Lattek team goes through.

You are underestimating your team. For me Trap and Capello are quite similar teams. I would drop one of them for Guttmann.
The Italian catenaccio, Total Ajax, Mighty Magyars and German efficiency = the best of Europe!

You can rarely go wrong with Baggio, but then with Boniek and Platini, it sure is a odd choice.

Edit if he drops Boniek and plays a 4-3-1-2 with Platini behind Baggio/Batigol....

I'd have thought he'd pick Cabrini next, then play a lop-sided 4-3-3, with Baggio as an inside-left forward and Boniek wider on the right. Cabrini provides the width on the left wing, and Bergomi is shifted to right back.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the plan. You could actually argue that fitting Matthäus into a team with Platini and Tardelli is more difficult than adding Baggio. For what it's worth, no one said Baggio is a bad pick, just a bit of a surprise.

Or you could have just voted for me :p

With Scirea there and Trap's players in general I think a 3-5-2 would have worked better.

Boniek playing either side of Batigol with Platini as a #10 looks great to me. Matthaus/Tardelli is a fantastic midfield, particularly with three centre backs behind them.

I'll love you until the end of time for picking Baggio. Don't listen to the others!
thanks, mate! appreciate the support, especially while I'm drunk and vulnerable to criticism. I just couldn't stand a thought of not having him, while he was available.

I will pick my last one in a bit, need to make a difficult decision here, obviously

It's quite obvious that I'm picking between two very different players here. I'll pick the handsome one

Genuine question, who would you have on the right in your 3-5-2 Trap team? Reuter? I don't rate him on that level, to be fair. Bergomi or Gentile as RWB?

Wouldn't do that. I wouldn't have gone for Reuter either - but then I wouldn't have gone for a 3-5-2 under any circumstances. I'd stick to the classic lopsided four if I were you - just switching Bergomi to the right to make room for Cabrini in his standard role.

But if I had to play 3-5-2 for some reason, I'd go for...I don't know. There must be someone available in that huge Trap pool. Zambrotta, perhaps - I'd rather have him than Reuter. But then I've always liked Zambrotta (I know he's not necessarily a safe bet in these drafts).

I don't think that 3-5-2 is the way to go too, that's why I'm asking. I think that Cuccu can do a job there, but then, is he rated highly enough as an attacking asset here? I don't like Zambrotta either, I'm picky as hell

He certainly can. You could go 3-5-2 with the players you have - Cabrini left, Cuccu right. No problem as such. But I doubt you'll get much credit for it - Cuccureddu likely won't be a vote magnet here, certainly not at this late stage of the draft.

And disregarding votes and such - for me your team looks much stronger with a four (Cabrini-Gentile-Scirea-Bergomi) at the back anyway, so it's a no-brainer really for me. That defense is virtually impossible to argue against - it's like Edgar's Milan mob.

That would be a really interesting semi actually, or another Juve-AC Milan borefest for the final :nervous:

Not sure what I prefer, actually. Bela and Pep up against their very own Italian brick wall will make for two great semis, I think. But if said brick walls both withstand the assault, it could make for a less feisty final.

Somehow I don't think Balu vs TRV would be that interesting either. It has to be Italy vs Other match-up.

Lets do the draw @Annahnomoss
