Man Utd v Spurs teams predictions etc..........

Listening to the after-match discussion, it seems that Giggs and Beckham spent too much time - yet again - coming inside.

If we're playing 4-4-2, we need the flanks. Why do they do it?

Even dutch football pundits noticed today how a Man United without Keane is 25% less good...

Even Dutch?

The implication being that the Dutch don't know much about the game? ;)

Giggs seems dangerously short on confidence. There was one instance in the first half where he’d just wasted an opportunity to cross, and the camera zoomed in on him, and he just stood there, shaking his head, head down and looking like he just wanted to be somewhere else. He must be given a rest imo, give him a chance to buck his ideas up. It’s a shame Djordjic is on loan, and Fortune is injured, while Chadwick can do a decent job but it’s his wrong side. Beckham at times looked like he wanted to do his own thing. Our wingers really are going to be the downfall of our attack imo.

Well I thought Giggs has had a couple of better games recently, and should be well up for it.

If he isn't then put Forlan in there - we've played three strikers in the past, so why not if we're short on goals.

I'd use Forlan. I'd consider Fortune. I'd never use Chadwick.

Yet our goal came from an attack where Beckham was in the middle passing to Giggs on the right (yes right!) who then passed the ball on to Ole and then came the penalty. (We should've had a penalty one minute earlier.)

The key IMO is movement. In the first half we looked very slow and created only a few chances. When we upped the speed in the second half Spurs couldn't defend themself. We need our attacking (strikers + wide midfielders) players to run. If so Becks and Giggs can be allowed to go centre as we'd still be creating chances.

You're dead right! And last season, even when we lost games, some of the movement was wonderful.

Why not Chadwick ? I remember seeing him set up a goal for someone against Valencia (Ole ?) after a great run on the left. Maybe worth a run in the side.

He's had good moments, but I just don't rate him as a consistently top class player.

I'm just talking about a few games in the side, maybe to bring his fitness up to speed and let Giggs have a rest, maybe two or three games, nothing more.

I don't think Giggs is a player that can be rested to form. The more consecutive matches he play the better he usually gets.

feckin hell did keller have a freak like proformance or what, he was outstanding

Both.

so 1-0 eh. 3 points.
maybe some of the posters on here will start respecting our opponents a bit more from now on. cries of 5-0 before kick off is stupid IMO.
Even without 12 of their first team squad, Spurs were not to be taken lightly.

still its 3 points and im reasonably happy. I'll be happier when i see Gaz, Scholesy & Keano return to the side though.

A word of praise for Phil Nev too, whos doing a sterling job out of posistion. Can people now see why Fergie keeps the likes of him around?

What happened to the person that used to post pictures of the match?

saw the match.. and its plain to see we created enough chances.

other than that, giggs and beck still played as central midfield... and its surprising that we aren't deploying them as out and out wingers, at OT....

anyway, like kasey keller said, someones gonna get a tonking from us(not his exact words ;) )

should be 5-0 if it wasn't a kesey keller's day, and ruud was trashed, it should have been a penalty

We need Becks in CM to pull the strings. Nearly every time Veron tried to make an ambitious pass he gave the ball away.

Becks didn't do that much better. We need him wide , same for Giggs too, we are playing that stupid shit down the middle which is so easy to defend.

The wings have always been a good hunting ground for us, why are they being forsaken.

I reckon, sometimes it feels like God pops in for a quick visit in the body of every goal keeper that ever seems to come up against us. Arrghh!

Ok then Canadian. enlighten us all. what has Phil done wrong in the last three games.

They say it's a game of opinions.

One paper had Giggsy as man of the match today. Another gave him 5 out of 10.
