Guys...We lacked match fitness and its good that we found out about our striker short comings now than later.

I think our midfield isn't so great as the names suggest. I mean, yes we have an on paper world class midfield, but if you look at those world class midfielders we have, all of them except for Giggs are world class because they are renowned PASSERS/DISTRIBUTORS. We only have one midfielder that runs at players and can unlock defenses in Giggs. If he gets shut down, we have trouble unlocking tight defenses. IMO we need to add at least one more player that's skilfull and fast, either in a midfield position or a striker position.
For United fans, you're all pretty quick to start doubting us.
You have to consider that, Ajax are two-weeks ahead of us in terms of pre-season preparation. They were the first 'big' team we have faced, and the majority of our players have only been training a few weeks.
Keano was excellent. And if his 'prove you wrong' performance was anything to go by for the rest of the season, we're in for a Keano-treat this season
Rio, looked solid, nothing really troubled him. He looks to be settling-in fine.
Pugh, reasonable performance when he came on. Didn't 'knock us out' with brilliance, but I didn't expect him to, he looked comfortable.
Diego. Was he any worse than some of the other players in all honesty? Its only because the pressure is on that you noticed him. Perhaps if you weren't so quick to knock him, the pressure on his shoulders would be relieved a little. You have to remember he's still young.
Veron. Like Keano, he's "I'll prove you" attitude seems to be shining through. Comfortable on the ball, as we expect from a world-class player. Signs of brilliance, especially with the little flick/cross thing he did.
The rest, well tey were just that. Nobody worth highlighting really. Nothing we didn't know already.
In spells, particularly our goal, we looked promising. A couple more weeks, and we'll be up-to-pace, I think there is very little for us to worry about, other than signing another striker.
