Man Utd interested in Witsel? | Fergie rumoured to have watched him v Chelsea

I reckon City are after the guy, and United, Chelsea are being used as tools by the Belgian club to hike the price.

There's no way United are spending another 20 Million pounds this season. Don't they have to make a decision on Tevez, and if they go ahead with his purchace it's another 20 Million.

I doubt the banks will entertain giving even United so much money in the present economic climate.

Maybe they wouldn't have to go to the banks to fund the transfers?

I am guessing if we buy this player that's probably the end for Tevez

I'm lost.

Unless you mean they have done a deal to sell couple of our youngsters to fund this particular deal.

Campbell would fetch around 10 Million.

United had cash reserves of £65m as of June 30 2007 and I believe that figure will have risen to c£90m as of June 30 2008.

Now granted cash reserves always peak at around May/June when season ticket/executive season ticket money flows in but even so I'd expect there to still be a significant sum in the bank, maybe £40m-£50m as of today.

It's also worth pointing out that United have the option of utilising a £50m overdraft facility.

Would they not be better off paying some of the loan back?

We do have a very strong squad.

Just saw him play about an hour ago.

He's actually the complete player. Take all the players on this years FIFA World Player of the Year shortlist, take from them their best components, put them in a blender and you've got some Alex Witsel juice. He's got the arched back of Steven Gerrard, which is handy for conning refs because he constantly looks like he's about to fall over from a foul. He has Frank Lampard's receding hairline, which means he can look up to heaven in celebrations with ease and there's no fringe to get in his way. He has Lio Messi's weird strain of dwarfism so he wont be skipping training to go to any theme parks - also very good news. There were a few minutes in the second half tonight where he looked like Jar Jar Binks, so he's obviously got a bit of the cut of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to his jib. He went on holiday to Madrid last summer and loved it, a bit like our Cristiano Ronaldo and last but not least, he's a spoiled little gitfaced wanker - that's got Cesc Fabregas written all over him.

Cock, meet hand. Hand, meet cock.

Has anyone seen this guy's chest-control? Could it be described as 'sublime'?

It's actually a lot better than that. Sometimes it looks as if you could hit him with a car and he'd still control it with his chest and then pass it to the nearest dealer.

I dont employ a scout.

Just seen them both and Fellaini play for Liege in europe this season.

What's he good at?And yes this is to see how much you can learn about a player from just two or three matches.

Witsel? Really didnt stand out to me, but then again I was just watching the game hoping they beat Liverpool over the two legs.

Fellaini stood out more, being that he's huge and had an effort or two on goal - which werent all that good, but the commentators were going on and on about him. Thought his passing on the night was quite poor myself.

Defour when I've seen him looks a good passer of the ball. Witsel didnt stand out to me in a positive or negative way. I didnt really notice him.

Which makes it quite clearly stupid to comment on a player that you barely even realised was playing.

I watched his matches against Everton and Liverpool and didn't realise him at all either.

Not when I compared him to another player who was playing in the same matches and impressed me more :wenger:

Defour was a better passer. Thats all I can say.

That's two different things all together.

You said "Decent player, but Defour is a better passer though he's also a year older."

So you said he was a decent player, based on two games, and that Defour is a better passer.

That's not the same as saying he played alright in the two games you seen him in, and that Defour passed the ball better in those two games.

You know that yourself, and you're well off.

He's clearly a decent player if he didnt stand out in a negative way. He's what, 19 and played for a side that nearly knocked Liverpool out of the champions league.

He may well be more than just a decent player though, and from what the two Belgian's on here have said, he is just slightly better than that.

Saying he's a decent player, from two games, is wrong.

Can someone confirm that he can separate his hands?

Seems to be a lot of bemusement about us being in the market for a talented, teenage midfielder.

The thing is, we came as near as damn it to signing a talented, teenage midfielder in the summer. His name was Aaron Ramsey.

SAF obviously thinks that this is an area which needs strengthening, now that Scholesy is on the wane and Hargreaves is out for the whole season. Possebon has looked decent at times but probably not good enough that we suddenly don't need what we were looking to buy when we missed out on Ramsey.

IMO, making a bid for this bloke would be similar to when we signed Vidic/Evra. Mightn't make much sense at the time but the benefits will be felt a season or two in the future.

well united make a profit, so could use that to buy both. Also, the fees are rarely upfront.

Also, Campbell I think will be sold, as well as Simpson. Only way for Campbell to stay imo is if he does so superbly at Spurs, that you would consider not buying Tevez at 32m.

but that's not likely, but not impossible as he looks to be quite a handful

I think theres more chance of Tevez leaving and us keeping Campbell if i'm honest.
