First step to getting him gone
If he was leaving then I don't think this would have happened. To me, it's a sign he's probably staying.
First step to getting him gone
Exactly my thoughts. Why the statement? Comes across entitled and bitter.
Amad now that he’s back at the club. Couldn’t strip Maguire of the captaincy when the main man was on loan last seasonRight decision - hopefully trying to put pressure on him to move
Wonder who will be the replacement and vice captain as DDG can't now either
Bruno?
I'd also imagine that this was done with the club's blessing. From a United perspective it really doesn't matter whether it comes from the club or from Maguire himself, and as I say I think this way is actually more shrewd.
It’s an obvious point to anybody who doesn’t have the brain the size of a pea, if we’re honest.
Wtf no it doesn't. It comes across as entitled and bitter because you hate him; nothing in the actual statement comes across that way even in the slightest.
Honestly feel a bit sorry for him now. He needs to move to ensure his career doesn’t go the way of Jones’. I still think he’d do a job for a side, just not ours
I apologise for my brain size.
Nah it doesn't say anything about Maguire staying or leaving , only thing it confirms is United would have New Permanent Captain going forward that's it .If he was leaving then I don't think this would have happened. To me, it's a sign he's probably staying.
It's extremely strange. I'm not sure how anybody could read that Tweet and think "Wow, that comes across as bitter and entitled". It's the most generic, milquetoast footballer Tweet you could hope to get and like we've both said, had he not put it out there you can bet your bottom dollar at least one of the tabloids would be running an article about how "LIVID" he is with Ten Hag's decision.Correct.
To remind myself how normal the statement is, I’ve just looked at what happened with Tyrone Mings last summer. Unsurprisingly, he wrote a similarly respectful statement and wished John McGinn the best publicly.
In this day and age, not saying anything would be weird.
The cultish way in which people hate Maguire (on what seems to be a suspiciously personal level) is really, very strange.
The timing is interesting considering that West Ham have that Rice money now and are said to be interested. It might have been times by ETH to make it clear to Maguire that he’s not in his plans so consider that offer from West Ham seriously.Correct decision, though I was hoping it'd take place by default once he's sold this summer. A bit harsh telling him now. Most likely he made it clear that he wants to stay.
Bruno will be the next captain but for me it's the wrong decision. I'd rather Varane or Cas, who have the mental strength and the right attitude on the pitch, Bruno has neither.
Definitely some games being played by both sides. United won't force a player out but this is their way of making his situation untenable, Maguire ideally if he left for lower wages would probably want united to contribute to his wages so is incentivized to dig his heels down and say how much he loves the cub and wants to fight for his place etc. Just gamesmanship. Hopefully he's gone by the start of the season.
If he was leaving then I don't think this would have happened. To me, it's a sign he's probably staying.
That's a fair point actually. Saves some drama.I think it's a good way to do it. Get ahead of the media with their "Maguire FURIOUS after losing the captaincy" by putting your own statement out about it.
If anyone has an issue with what Maguire has Tweeted they need to get a fecking grip.
Has any player lost captaincy for non misconduct and stayed at the club?
