Madrid, Barca and Bayern fans would riot.

Yeah right. Our fans start moaning the moment we try any sort of meaningful protest.

I think we need to be more strategic. Rioting and protesting just increases the toxicity and adds to an already volatile situation.

First thing we need answers from the folks in charge of the football structure. That's the main issue we need sorted out. When they make stupid decisions we need to pull an Arnautovic on them really. The fanbase united on that issue and got it stopped for eg. That's without any major offensive, just fans writing in and putting their points across properly whilst some threatened to dump the season tickets etc. As I say, there are better ways to get their attention.

I'm not sure how or which organisation could put things together. However, we can't be hysterical. /it doesn't achieve anything.
I think the problem is light and disparate protesting has been going on since the Glazers took over. People voicing their displeasure at the Glazers has been going on since they took over. High profile voices add their two pence worth.

None of it makes any difference to owners who are mostly absent and sat in comfy Florida mansions. They are too remote to care, and they enjoy their profits too much.

I'm not advocating violence. I'm just saying opinions on a low priority signing on social media are very different to cutting off parasites. The latter will require something far more drastic then fans clubbing together on platforms or writing nicely worded letters.

Ten Hag resigning would certainly cause some waves, but fortunately he is a grown up and a mature man so he probably won't do that after a bad week at work. He'll do what grown up and mature people do. Analyse the problem and come up with ways to improve the situation, none of which will include smashing up our own stadium or physically assaulting the players.

That really shouldn't be happening though, United fans shouldn't need to email the CEO and tell them a player they're looking to sign is substandard and a racist, two months after being told through PR pieces that the club have already turned down multiple players due to our "extensive" background checks...

Sometimes incompetence needs to be hounded out.

I agree. But how do we hound out incompetent folks? Do we put pressure on Murtough or whomever else?
I mean isn't there some fan forum that the club deals with? I thought I saw this somewhere? Is it through MUST? Maybe we need to be a part of their next forum and start bombarding them with some pointed questions? At least for a start. I can smell bullshit coming from a mile as can most of our fans, so I'm pretty sure we'd be able to see through any stupid PR answers.

Oh god, yes. And now we're panicking and trying to sign anyone who can move.

Its a joke. The club is one big joke.

That’s just barbaric and asking for a player to get seriously hurt.

Football is not that deep, seriously.

I get it we’re upset, but mass pitch invasions are definitely not the way.
Living up to your username there, if United are shit just turn the telly off and it goes away right? Pathetic.

This week Partizan Belgrade after being knocked out from EL, yes they are ultras with all elements that comes with it, players had to stand there to be insulted, think captain had to negotiate with leaders so they can keep shirts on after there was a demand for them to remove it, its kinda funny difference in contrast.

Hahaah!!

So barbaric, hooliganism is the answer is it?

No, no it’s not

Where did I say it was? I take issue with you saying football isn’t deep, and I’d imagine anyone else who has spent years upon years and gif knows how many thousands of pounds following this club all over the world would also agree that it absolutely is that deep.

Unfortunately there are lots of fans who don’t care enough or worse, defend the Glazers with arguments that they have spent a lot of money. I can’t see fans coming together to do anything effective.

I don't think I've ever seen or heard one United fan defend the Glazers.

I honestly don't know, my only hope is that it doesn't turn violent, as that's what happens when anger and frustration is bottled up for too long, it's been 10 years of abject failure, up until recently the crowd were still cheering, I have a feeling when it turns sour, it'll go too far the other way.

@FrankDrebin yup, I was trying to be as neutral as possible during the summer, but constantly being fed puff pieces United PR Sent out by the positivity bunch really annoyed me, funny how they fail to see the irony in our recent targets.

This comes from Sir Alex time. Even when we played badly and lost or like were 10th in december 2001 it was never booing at Old Trafford. So it takes time to change that which has become more and more likely over the last few years.
Sir Alex probably had earned some credit with the fans. It was never this bad under Fergie. I for one agree with Neville that these players won't change, the club is in a shit state and nothing will change while the same people are running the show.

The post was about running on to the pitch mid game - increased danger of players getting hurt.

Football isn’t that deep! You’d be mad to run on to the pitch mid game.

It definitely is not that deep.

First off, he didn’t advocate anything.

Secondly, football is that deep. In England, it has a very big impact on people. Football is woven into the lives of people here. If you can’t understand that — that’s on you.

Football isn't important enough to condone actual riots; rioting pose physical risk and fuels anger and hatred towards others. That's why I'm fine with people moaning online and booing players at games, it's harmless and allows everyone to let off steam. At most football fans should have peaceful protests outside OT, and boycott matches.

So the reasonable compromise would be for people to get into the stadium & on the pitch pre game to get the game called off like last time then? As no players would be on the pitch and therefore nobody could hurt the precious souls, bless them, because obviously their well-being is the most important thing here.

Glad someone can see my point

You’re talking about fans who gave David Moyes a standing ovation.

I think the most effective tactic would be to do what happened when the European Super League broke out. Stop matches happening from protests/blockades. It can't be allowed to continue.

When I read this I immediately thought, have we brought in a " Rashford Standard"
We really couldn't care less if you can play football but you better be Charity Daft.

I know it's serious but I couldn't help laughing. Imagining Maguire stood there negotiating at OT to keep his shirt on

This is appropriate.
No one is asking for pitch invasions or destroying of property but a large vocal protest has been shown previously to have an effect

Difference between the ESL and Glazer ownership is 4BN +

You need a consortium or a big bid to change that.

Protests won’t do anything

If you want to do anything find a consortium or a big bidder who would buy United

Maguire talking for more than 5 mins and we are all bored to tears and walking out. Thats the ones who didnt fall asleep

We’ve let the club down as fans. Let’s face it - it’s our fecking fault. At the end of the day, Glazers; they’re only custodians of this club.

Owners will come and go but we own Manchester United. And we’ve absolutely neglected this club.

There is a sickness in this club which absolutely can be rid of - if we unite as fans.

I totally agree with this . I've been involved with some match day protests but the vast majority of fans don't bother and at times go as far to confront those protesting .
These Parasites should be no where near our club yet have been for 17 years .
I always go back to a good friend of mine from Amercia who told me 17 years ago that the Glazer family will suck your club dry and drain all resources out then walk away leaving it in ruins .
At the time I felt this was am exaggeration but now I know he was 100% correct .

I’m not sure what rioting means here but it sounds violent. Aggressive fan pitch invasions are being discussed quite loosely.

Those players are actual humans and could get seriously hurt. Being shite at their job is not a crime, many people in less glamorous professions are.

Would request the mods to evaluate the contents of this thread.

You're so right

He would be too scared to speak to the fans. Would abandon his team mates and leave without the shirt.

Glad someone can see my point
Jesus Christ. What a way to misread the thread. Violence would have a decidedly negative impact because majority of people are non violent. A coordinated, peaceful protests - ones which involve stopping of matches going ahead - these protests, are needed. Now.

Have you met Barca fans?
Easy to say that when but ask yourself - what would happen to Bayern? If they were absolutely shambolic for 9 years. I’m not talking thereabouts - im talking hitherto unknown.

Don’t know if I agree, to be honest. In my opinion what’s happening with your club and many other football clubs in Europe, but especially in England, is a symptom of a very serious issue. More and more institutions of culture, places for social gathering and so on are being sold and turned into products without any meaning. That’s an important issue that transcends football.
It is not a good thing, if those who actually keep clubs going have less and less power. It is an issue if these clubs stop being football clubs and become mere products without any heart in it.
Football clubs are social institutions of great importance. People gather and socialise around them. They work in them. They reflect the culture of the communities they are located in. All this is getting lost. The meaning and history is getting loss. And thus community gets lost.
This is a general issue of capitalism. And it goes far beyond football. But if you never start to fight for what should be yours, it’ll soon be gone forever. Your club has been stolen by the Glazers. It has been stripped of its meaning, of its purpose and its beauty. It’s merely a way to enrich a bunch of people who are already obscenely rich. It’s not a club anymore, but a commercial enterprise. It’s become interchangeable. Devoid of meaning.
English fan culture is simply nonexistent. If I watch games in other countries, see how the fans are organised, politically active, active throughout the community, how the people identify with their clubs and then turn to England, it’s sad really. Because non of this exists anymore. It’s just a place where your supposed to spend loads of money so some dude who doesn’t even know a thing about Manchester, the club, the region and so on can become even richer and buy another super yacht. It’s sad and appaling, really. And it upsets me to see, how English fans accept all this shit. Rock bottom for me was to see how Newcastle fans actually cheered becoming a sportswashing front for a horrible and criminal regime.
Don’t know if rioting does help. But it would be great if fans in England would start to organise themselves again. If they would build communities again. If they became active again.
The lack of all this is no coincidence. It’s the sad result of the waste laid upon your country by the horrors of Thatcherism. Because these people understood the political and societal role these clubs played and therefore fought them. Because they were a hinderance for greedy, unhinged capitalists on their way to even more power and wealth, stealing from all of you.
Don’t accept this. Stop being apathetic. Become active ffs.
What’s happening to your club is no coincidence, no unfortunate serious of events. It’s the logical conclusion to a process going on for decades, that’s not being fought against anymore. And until you pick up the fight again, it won’t get better, but will become worse and worse.

While we’re at it, the shite players should resign too. Let’s hear them say, “I’m ashamed to play for a team that would hire me,” or something.

Easy to say that when but ask yourself - what would happen to Bayern? If they were absolutely shambolic for 9 years. I’m not talking thereabouts - im talking hitherto unknown.
Easy, The board would be sacked. And it would be possible, because Bayern is a club controlled by it's members (and essentially every fan can become a member). Unlike United which is a business that is owned by the Glazers, not by the fans. Same as for Real and Barca. All these are clubs where the fans elect the board/president/whatever and therefore can set a general direction and directly influence the operation of the club.

i’m doing my part. what with the cost of living crisis, i’ve swapped my prawn sandwiches for seafood cocktail ones, made with crabsticks.

So you’ve encapsulated my thoughts.
