Damn! They would have had a great chance of becoming the "Bayern Munich" of France if not for PSG trying to win the money doping world championship.
Lyon finished in the top 3 in the french league 18 out 21 seasons between 1998 and 2019, finishing 4th, 4th and 5th in the other 3 season.

Lyon has been terribly mismanaged and underperforming for years. They were on the way to relegation last year by themselves on pure sporting matters for a good chunk of the season.

Not that I enjoy state-sponsored clubs but this has much more to do with their supposedly more respectable purchase by usual capitalist grifters than PSG.
