Were Giggs to go considering his status with the club, i doubt it would be reported with it being chucked in with "all coaches sacked with Giggs" it would be more on his own terms, the fanfare he desires.
For me Giggs has to shoulder some of the blame , he could see where it was going wrong and just seemed to sit back and let it happen (we dont know what happens behind closed doors), his position is no untenable.

As glad as I am that he's gone, I hope he isn't actually 'seething' with the way it has been handled. There was a video clip of him at the press conference looking rather dishevelled and forlorn with the FA Cup titled 'van Gaal 'proud' of his FA Cup win'. Something about it made me feel really rather sorry for him...

Regardless of whether he didn't meet our expectations, I like him and I wish we'd been given time to get our house in order before the news was released. Why did it have to taint the FA Cup win? The first thing my mum spoke to me on the phone was about the van Gaal/Mourinho situation... Regardless of what people say, it HAS slightly spoilt it, and it gives a good indication of what it'll be like under Mourinho and Mendes.

Mischief to keep us from enjoying all the trophies he's going to bring? :p Nah.

Feels weird to me, and I've been a part of the "sack him now" since December. I remember the relief and elation when it was Moyes, because I just really didn't like him one iota. Nothing about what he did was good.

The football has stunk something rotten under Louis, but I still quite like him as a personality and the way he has handled the media. There's a lot of negatives, but unlike Moyes, there were significant positives. Still feel sort of glad he went out with a cup, and happy now for the change to happen.

I'll miss him a little, in a weird, inexplicable way.

Not sure of player but any caftard having birthday today? Inform ManUtd twitter.

I kind of get this.

But thank feck.

How can you justify not releasing Giggs if he is part of a managerial team which has been deemed not good enough? So "Louis, you've not been up to scratch, you've got to go and take your coaching team with you - they're not good enough...but Ryan, you were brilliant, you're welcome to stay on!"....don't get that. Is he not as culpable as the rest?
The club has sacked the manager and the team he appointed. When LVG was brought in, the speculation was that he wanted his own assistant but Giggs was kept to appease those who thought that we needed a "club man" as part of the setup. So the board probably don't associate him with LVG, and as they see LVG as an authoritarian manager they probably don't view Giggs as having enough influence to be able to have been part of our problems (regardless of whether or not that's true).

I'd be happy for Giggs to be offered the chance to continue on as a coach. He has a lot to offer in that regard (except perhaps the personal life). At the very least if he's leaving I'm happy it was on a high with the FA Cup win, and hope that he takes a sensible approach to his managerial career by taking on a team in the lower leagues and working up.

The FA cup went a lot to redeeming himself in a lot of people's eyes. But nowhere good enough and no one would have been able to suffer through another year of VG ball. Glad Maureen in, let's piss everyone off and not give a feck again.

seems to me like a snake in the grass, plotting Van Gaal's downfall whilst prepping the hotseat for himself, not everything can be solved by f*cking someone over though.

Please post the contents as I am at work and cannot see any tweets.
Apologies. It's BBC sports journalist confirming that Van Gaal has been fired. Tweet reads as:
LVG sacked as #MUFC manager. £5m pay off. Destined to be remembered as the fall guy.

Reuters saying statement due at 1am. Sky pointing out that that's when the NYSE opens :lol:

It's the gif where he pretend dives on the floor.

Thanks again and seriously no need for apologies. The firewall at work prevents the twitter content to be shown. Stupid work. I am pressing F5 furiously on the home page waiting for an official announcement and a new thread! :D

Not in my eyes. I love the FA cup win, it means more to us than some people seem to get. He's also at least built a starting point and let's be honest, at least he fought the press.

However, there can't be any United fans who weren't bored to tears under him and some of the comments lately have been plain ridiculous. I'm glad he's gone personally, and I don't consider his reign a success overall at all.

I'm looking forward to enjoying football again, that's the main thing for me.

Personally not sure how can you say this - because like you say - we don't know what happens behind closed doors.
