Left a bad taste in the mouth this. Ruined the day. FA cup still means a lot to me, should allow us to celebrate it, thank LVG as he is another Manager who has brought us a trophy and give him a few days before what we all know was going to happen, happen.
Yeah, it was a foregone conclusion after West Ham. Don't understand why some people enjoyed the leak so much.

I've wanted him gone since December, and don't like him too much either.

However, a Moyes-esque situation must be avoided, and we should wait for a while before sacking a manager who's just won us a cup thanks to the systems he put in place.

Not dramatic at all considering how long he's been here, how much he's spent, how much he's tried to lower expectations because he shite as his job and how we are basically back to square one again, so laugh all you like, I support Utd not lvg like some deluded lvg groupies!

Liked Louis a lot but understand Mourinho is needed for us to progress.

But seriously, you couldn't give him one night to celebrate before giving him the boot? We're no better than City.

Honestly don't like how it's been leaked so quickly after the cup win. What was meant to be a day to enjoy a cup has turned into talk about Mourinho.
The problem lies with the club for leaving the situation unresolved for this long because the only thing it achieves is bring more speculation than necessary. If we had put a statement weeks ago preferably after the failure at West Ham then all of this would be a non-story and the focus would be on the Cup win.

Ehm...on second thought, its not worth it. Take care.

And you, you obviously have far lower expectations than a lot of us on here, guess that why you liked LVB

 far lower expectations,my expectations are way higher then yours, can bet on it.

Great quotes about players who just fought back from 1-0 down and with 10 men. Hate his excuses.

The Galactico class players he was after (and for whom we offered World record fees), did not want to play under LVG, given that our 2 existing Galactico class players both wanted to leave asap.
Unfortunately, LVG's man management just isn't good enough to handle the fragile egos of the very top players.
This is why he finds it easier to manage youth players, because he can get away with far more.

Obviously not if you wanted Louis to stay, anyway let's not go round in circles let's enjoy today, there's lots to enjoy ;)

Good post. Pleased he's leaving as we've had two poor seasons but that's not the way to do it.

You mixed me with someone else. My vote went for "evaluate at the end of the season" from the moment poll was created, never changed. But yea i agree, today happened something way more important,so think we should all enjoy it.

I was one of the many who wanted LVG out for obvious reasons.

But one thing that nobody ever mentions but that should be remembered is that he never lost the dressing room. With Moyes you felt like he lost the dressing room after a few months. With LVG, despite poor performances and results, you always saw that the players performed for him and believed in whatever he tried to get them to do. Food for thought.

He sure managed Judas Giggs wisely.

The majority of the crowd here seemed to hate LvG's guts and the moment he gets sacked there's a flood of thank yous and sympathy toward him.

I don't get it. I nearly had tears of rejoice when I heard of his sacking. His appointment at the time made sense but he has turned out to be a disaster. The guy was paid millions to do his job and not only did he fail, he chose to blame his players, never himself and continually lowered the club's expectations while pretty much calling the fans entitled.

He was an arrogant egomaniac who liked to hide his incompetency under the guise of the word "philosophy". I'm not sure why him getting sacked 6 months after he should've been should suddenly make us feel sorry for him.

The club didn't win the FA cup because of him. The players won it despite of him.

My post of the weekend.

This. It's fecking pathetic. We won the FA Cup and the fans once again proved their fickleness. Can't wait for Monday/Tuesday for the club to confirm it.

I did like Van Gaal for a while and supported us sticking by him but it was his treatment of Valdes that started to change my opinion of him. People are saying Van Gaal has been harshly treated and has acted with dignity but he has certainly lacked class himself on occasion while he's been here.

Take all the media stories with a huge pinch of salt, he has been sacked, handed in a resignation and sacked again already this year. The media are absolute b*stards, relishing constantly provoking LVG about losing his job and - even with this latest Mourinho news, which is pretty concrete, it is still not official club news.

VG is an arrogant, stubborn but honest coach and he should move on this year, results have been below expectations and the style of football we play shows no sign of improving. However, we have won the FA cup (not exactly easy to do) and have the most exciting crop of youth players coming through that I can remember. For those who are saying players won 'despite' of VG and the youth players had to play 'as he had no other choice' that is such an immature way to vent your hate of the man. You can't attribute so much blame to how we play to VG and then say the players won 'despite him' - doesn't make sense.

Really disappointed in how the win has been overshadowed and, though I feel no love for VG, I feel sorry for him. This would never have happened under David Gill.

He had to sneak in another arrogant quote yesterday about how great he is.

"Which [other] manager can do what I have done? I don't want to talk about leaving."

Roberto Martinez and Harry Redknapp that's who Louis. Good on you for taking all the credit though, no my players were great or anything.

He was talking about dealing with the weekly "are you being sacked?" bollocks for the last 6 months. Be interesting to know if we would have gained the one extra point needed for CL without the constant speculation which surely had some sort of destabilising effect.

Possible but I don't think he was as he was talking about showing them the cup and how it was the first trophy since Sir Alex.

Could you please justify this.

He had two seasons spent a fortune and we still nearly finished 7th? All the while making us the most boring team in the league.

The cup win clearly puts him above Moyes but you know that's one games difference.

I think he would have been refering to winning trophies in 4 different countries. Which is fair enough as many many managers can say that.

We didn't finish 7th, he qualified for the champions league in his first season and he won an FA Cup. Van Gaal still failed as United manager but he still accomplished for more than Moyes, irregaldress of money spent. The football under Moyes was also woeful, we had lost the same spirit we had under Fergie in a matter of months, not to mention we were the whipping boys of the top 4. Can we stop with the revisionism of the Moyes era which was our lowest point for about 20 years.

Van Gaal does not know what's going on . A disgrace if true. Was happy for him to be judged at the end of the season and never believed from the start his philosophy would work .But this is no way to treat anyone.

how true this is I have no idea. Posted on Facebook.

BREAKING: Manchester United board members and Louis van Gaal are in London holding a meeting and they will tell him there that he has been relieved of his duties as the manager.
Its still to be seen whether or not van Gaal boards the Manchester United coach that takes them to Manchester from London today afternoon.

Hanging him out to dry like that is a poor show by Woodward. Things haven't gone as well as we hoped, (and some of us expected) but to humiliate the bloke like this while the press are all assembled by his 'friend' is not on.

I hope the Glazers do the same to Woodward at some point.

He should have been sacked back in December when any other manager would have been but Woodward backed him and has allowed him to see out the season and go out with a trophy. He has been treated a lot better than people are making out.
