I've been weighing it up recently but yeah I think you're right.

With all the context, Van Gaal has been even worse. What a frightening situation to be stuck in.
Imagine we are 6th and two of the teams ahead of us are West Ham and Leicester City. In the Moyes season, you could make the argument that the big teams showed up, Everton too. This season, no team has really stood out yet we're 6th and a long way from top.

He is clueless, out of his depth and will leave behind a huge mess. We can't play possession football and there are no foundations, a failure on every level.

My vote still says, evaluate at the end of the season. Think he will quit at the end. Unless he comes out and changes his stupid philosophy he should not be allowed to continue next season.

He would become a good manager again if he just stops being so pig headed. He comes out in the media saying all the right things about how he is not a dictator and listens to the players who have constructive criticism, but when you have senior players like Carrick and Rooney, what can you expect?

Rooney, Fellaini, Carrick all have to just leave at the end of the season.

that is absolutely insane. you have nearly two seasons for a sample size... what more could you see the rest of the way that could lead you to believe that he deserves another season? literally, name anything plausible. i'm all ears/eyes.

And now he's blaming the officials whilst saying that Memphis did bring Clyne down and it was possibly in the box? (I think that's what he's saying at least... who know's with this madman)

Anyone here who couldn't do their job would be sacked in the morning. It's absolutely baffling and as long as Woodward and those above him don't have the bollocks to sack him this club deserves feck all.

I think he's potentially got 2 more matches - Hammers in the cup then City in the league. If we lose both of those (likely) then he will go IMO.

Just look at di Maria last year to di Maria for PSG, Martial at the beginning of the season to Martial now, Rashford three games ago to Rashford now... The players have some questions they need to answer as well obviously but LVG is only making things worse as we go.
They looked scared to lose their shape or move out of position, it's almost as if they've been told in training to remain static...

How on earth is he still our manager. Other fans are pissing themselves at us. No other club, anywhere, would put up with this. He should have gone 3 months ago...we are a laughing stock.

The lack of confidence in the players is frightening. He must have the man management skills of a floating turd.

Watching United under LVG is like self-flagellation. I just knew we were going to be shit but felt foolishly compelled to witness the occasion and ruin my own evening once again.

Fellaini was the only guy in the second half who looked like he gave a feck apart from DDG.

committing numerous fouls, a lot of dumb ones, should've seen a second yellow.
lazy last 30 minutes.

I wouldn't describe that as giving a feck

Humour me, if you will lads, put yourselves in LVGs shoes.

If you were manager of a football club like United, and your team had just produced a performance as insipid and impotent as that, in a huge game against your biggest rivals no less - for the umpteenth time this season - would you not decide there and then that enough was enough and resign on the spot? Of course you would, so what on earth is keeping LVG from doing exactly that, his pride? Surely no self-respecting football manager would put his own personal feelings ahead of what's best for the club. Does he still believe his own hype? That his philosophy will eventually bare fruition? That success is still attainable so long as he stays in the hotseat? I ask these questions as I genuinly do not know the answers. The only thing I know for certain is that the level of delusion this fool possesses is quite astounding.

Two years we have suffered this shit, three if you include the equally inept David Moyes, we have put up with this long enough. Logic dictates his resignation. The media wants it. The fans demand it. Everyone and their dogs have had it up to here with the guy. Leave, Mr Van Gaal, leave and never return you absolute charlatan.

The lack of bravery, understanding and creativity was on show for all to see tonight. Can't look past the manager in directing the blame there.

We'll beat West Ham 1-0 on Saturday thanks to a jammy OG and DDG making 10 worldy saves and suddenly we'll have turned our 30th corner in LVG's tenure.
Its weird because everyone predicted when players return it'll be business as usual but there was hope we' turned yet another corner. i'd say we've turned 28 corners. gotta be multiples of 4 cos we end up at the starting point again

Why the hell Butt? That won't happen.

I really hope Mourinho is a done deal.
I just have that slight concern that miniscule run of wins with the kids might have made the board think he's worth a third season for some odd reason. Even though games like this show that the kids are not ready just yet.
Because I reckon when lvg goes, Giggs will go with him. You can replace Butt with anyone, it's more the idea that lvg isn't going anywhere until he mathematically can no longer qualify for the champions league.

Near enough every player we've bought has gotten shitter the more time they've spent under LVG/Moyes and turned good again when they've left.

Fell asleep in front of my laptop just before the game started, just woke up to see the results. I think my body is trying to tell me something.

Probably the pay off keeping him from resigning.

Fellaini's like a guy on a storm-bound ship, swaying from side to side as he bails out water with a holed bucket.

You need more time to evaluate?
Because maybe he might win us the title?

that is absolutely insane. you have nearly two seasons for a sample size... what more could you see the rest of the way that could lead you to believe that he deserves another season? literally, name anything plausible. i'm all ears/eyes.

How can you be saying evaluate at the end of the season?

Are you seriously saying there's a chance you'd be happy with him staying on next season? What about his 2 seasons in charge has made you think next year would be in any way different?

I lost my trust in him again (lost it earlier, then it came back during those 4 games etc etc) I think he betted on the wrong horses (Rooney & Carrick) sold the wrong players and kept the wrong ones (sold RVP, kept Fellaini). He is a good manager, but when he said that his captain shall always play after the Arsenal match i knew he cannot change with the times and will remain an egoistic manager.

I say evaluate at the end of the season as there is really no point bringing a new manager for the last 10 games. What is going to be acheived? Rather he quits at the end of the season himself, gets a dignified exit and then we get Giggs and give him the great opportunity to ruin United properly.

You presumably can't mean the guy who just lost the dressing room, the staff and dropped his captain consistently at Chelsea? Does Jose have a brother in management as well?

Sorry mate, I'm on the other side of the fence to you on this. The situation at Chelsea is totally different and, if you ask me, he made a mistake going back there. Still, they won the league didn't they?

Thought he nailed it today by substituting a striker who was basically playing as a RB, for a CM to play at CB.

So you'll just gloss over him doing literally everything you just listed that Van Gaal has done and deserves to be sacked for?

The cult of Maureen.

We've turned a corner alright, because we're going in fecking circles. They're corners that suit the philosophy, you see.

We should have learned from what Barca and Bayern did and sack him quickly after a run of really bad results. It's clear he has no plan at this club.

Committing fouls was because he was challenging for the ball while Mata, Morgan and the like were strolling around. I am not a Fellaini supporter but he was the least of our problems today.

Gonna have a party when he fecks off.

....if he fecks off.
Sad truth is, by the time he goes the only available managers will probably be Hodgeson and Moyes.

In his reign Klopp, Guardiola and Mourinho have all been seeking new clubs.

This season is over for me. Just marking time till LVG is replaced.
