Luton Town in the Championship? Probably not

We're looking at Matt Bloomfield @Sandikan tell me more about him

I hope not. He could get us promoted against the money bags of Wrexham and Birmingham whilst working with one of the smallest budgets in the league. Though somehow Wycombe just signed a defender from Molde.

He played for us, coached us and has now managed us for about 20+ years with just a 6 month spell managing Col Utd
Known as Mr Wycombe, he actually lives in Felixstowe, which is bloody miles from Wycombe and in fact most of the country!

He's linked to every championship vacancy going, so expect it's just another link that won't come to fruition.

He's doing a good job here, but not quite achieved enough here yet. Meaning if he went elsewhere and failed he could risk not getting back in.

I don't think we've got one of the smallest budgets in the league anymore! Have you not seen our squad now?

Had a slow start after replacing Ainsworth but done brilliantly to tweak the style and have them seriously challenging for automatics.

I do think though they'll just be pipped as think results will dip now with some of the loans you've lost like Bolton recalling Morley. Also talk of Joe Low going to the championship.

Joe Low Toure to the Championship would be a huge blow to Wycombe. Richard Kone rumours stirring up as well.

We have just doubled our all time transfer record on a defender who was playing Europa league for Molde though, and are pursuing a quality defender Charlton have.
Also a battled hardened 6ft 5 defender just came in on loan from Luton and scored the 2nd in a 2-0 win last night in the FA cup v higher tier Portsmouth. Even with us rotating as heavily as they did.
So it'll certainly be interesting.

Birmingham should ease to a comfy league title, then it's 1 from 3 for the next space.
Missing the playoffs would feel a disaster from here.

Nah, you loaned him from Derby, who we sold him to after getting premier league. He was a great player/captain for us though and a nice guy when I met him at Legoland.

I imagine Wrexham will make some decent moves as very good chance for them to get a double promotion. Huddersfield also kept many of their experienced players and they're on a very long unbeaten run currently so tough ask for Wycombe to keep going for top 2.

It depends how quickly we can deal with and adjust to the departed loanees Taylor and Morley, who were superb in this division and how we deal with Low who surely will go when the bidding reaches 1m.
We've already brought 2 defenders in so we'll see how that goes. And have a number of other midfield options, but none who can play that very unique deep lying playmaker role that Morley could.

What also hasn't helped us v our rivals was having 4 games over 10 days. Huddersfield lucky enough have had 2 of their 4 postponed. Though hopefully those build up later.

Looks like Matt Bloomfield missed Wycombe training today... This might be happening.

Separate word is that we didn't actually have training today.

But the noises do sound like you'll be appointing your next ex-manager in him.

Out "data" driven lot are meanwhile signing random Danish defenders for double our transfer record, while trying to bring a Danish mid in for double, this new transfer record. Mad times.

It's been announced. A bit risky considering our position in the league but I hope this fella is good.

Wycombe are my closest team and since my son got into football a couple of seasons ago we started following them as a 2nd team to United and go to Adam’s Park quite often. I’m surprised and disappointed Bloomfield has gone mid-season with the chance of automatic promotion. My guess is he suspects maybe his reputation may not get higher if Wycombe drop off over 2nd half of season. The statement realised by Wycombe is very short for someone who has been at the club 20 years so maybe some falling out begins the scenes.

Rock bottom of the table with about a dozen games left and beaten by their bitter rivals.

They could be doing down as fast as they come up. How has it gone so wrong?

Bloomfield still can't get a win. He might not make it to the end of the season.

I'm really shocked. In the past when teams like Wolves and Sunderland have had double relegations they've come down with bloated and old squads so motivation not at the highest and had losing culture for years.

Surely none of that is an issue at Luton?

They knew going up to the prem was a massive ask and they didn't overspend at all and then knew they were going down as early as March. Today's 11 had all of Kaminski, Bell, Nakamba, Doughty and Morris starting. Four of those key parts of their promotion winning team and they all did relatively o.k in the prem.

Morris and Adebayo both got pretty much double figures in the prem yet they're the lowest scorers in the championship. Their away record is horrific aswell, 5 points all season I think. They got more away points in the prem by early December last season.

A big problem seems to have been neglecting the backline again and just waiting for Tom Lockyer to get fit. Considering he's had two collapses on the pitch within six months I don't understand that idea at all even if he's been given the all clear to resume.

I go to games here and there any my take is that getting promoted to the PL was a big over performance for the squad they had. Ultimately, I don't think the investment in the squad, when they got promoted was enough (aside from Barkley, they targeted Championship level players) and when relegated they have lost quite a few players and replaced them well.

Last season was a free hit and they did well but I sense that any positive momentum was lost and energy levels weren't where they should have been. Playing personnel is the big thing, rightly or wrong I think the emphasis has been on making sure the club is in fine position financially to build a new stadium, rather than being about the football.

With those starters Nakamba and Doughty have been injured for large parts of this season. You mention Lockyer but Luton also lost Kabore (loan from City), Lokonga (loan from Arsenal), Osho, and Ogbene. Obviously you have Barkley who was never going to stay too.

Is Chong playing much? He was the sort of signing that perhaps wasn't quite ready for the prem (although he still had his moments) but back down in championship he'd be a standout player in the frontline but again not really happened and I assume he's injured now.

Our demise was always on the cards.

We lost Barkley, who we relied on for chances created through the middle and his replacement, Baptiste is made out of crisps and always injured. Therefore our strikers are feeding off scraps. Doesn't help that Chong is also injured.

Lost the entire defense. Lakonga and Kabore loan expired, Nakamba was injured until recently, Lockyer out since his heart issues in the premier league. Anderson, Mengi and Burke made of glass. New right back Walters been injured. Bell has been injured (but that's a blessing as he's shit). Doughty, our best player, was injured for a long spell. That only leaves Johnson and Hashioka, who are not first team players.

We basically fecked it in the summer transfer window.

All that plus baffling decisions from the board and Edwards haven't helped.

Went to your game today, sat in the Watford end (sorry) and yeah you look like you’re going down. Outplayed completely in the first half.
That number 44 you had up front is one of the worse football players I’ve ever seen.
So little quality through the team. Aasgard looks decent technically but his decision making was way off.

Your system doesn’t work with the players you have either. Not sure if Bloomfield is the guy either. I think you needed a Neil Warnock type.

I'll give Nordas a pass as this is only his second game and he played really well in the first. Assgaard is decent, but again, he's just joined.

We should have sacked Edwards after the Middlesbrough 5-1, when managers like Rowitt were available.

They are heading to League 1, they were poor today didn’t create a whole lot.

I was watching the game on a stream and the commentary was coming from a Watford radio station. It was so different to your standard drole commentary on tv , this radio commentator was really going into detail (for radio listeners )and made it very exciting even if Watford were in midfield passing it around . He should be promoted , much better than the rubbish we’ve to endure on Sky and TNT

Absolutely nothing to contribute but that is a sensational name

Luton have Victor Moses in their squad. And Tim Krul. Nothing more to add other than I'm surprised they're still playing
