In this article with the Guardian, says he's young, had a nasty injury which effect mentally and physically and has told Shaw what he expects in a defender.

As most of us have called it.

Awful injury, this season had to be all about getting him back into football again, not about him being back to his best instantly. This pre-season will decide if he's ready to play every week again.

Want to see him start playing even just a few minutes in smaller games. Loved him as a player when he was great before the injury. Exactly what we need on the left at the moment.

Wrong article? Anyways I'm sure Shaw will make his way back into the starting XI.

Click bate title got me again!!! Came in here actually thinking you havd an article about luke shaw!

Glad he's came out and said something. Mourinho famously says nothing without an agenda behind it. This makes me think we'll see a lot more of him this season.

Mourinho is going to be bloody good for Shaw.

If Shaw listens, Mourinho could develop him from the slight softy he is now into a mature, accomplished, hard as nuts defender, which would be fantastic for United.

Cut the self promotion buddy!!!

You sure guys, read again?

To be fair to them when i first clicked the link i read the bit about pogba, then there was a big piece begging for donations for the guardian, that must of been blocking the bit about shaw

The parts on Shaw:
“He had a very ugly injury, really, really ugly,” said Mourinho, refuting rumours that Shaw could be sold this summer. “Not just from the physical point of view, but also by the mental impact. So this season he has had a couple of small injuries and he needs to adapt. He knows what I like in a defender, he knows that I like stability, that I don’t like mistakes, that for me it is to trust a player totally and he has to work to get it."

“And when he is on the pitch again he has to try to give me that step by step because he is still only a young player, sometimes people forget he is only a young player with a lot to learn but I like the player and I like the boy. No, he will be here for sure, that is out of the question.”

Great to hear, I'd have been gutted if he left this summer.

He's going to prove all the doubters wrong.

Happy to hear that. I hope Shaw himself will know how to handle the situation and keep working to make the adjustments Jose wants from him, I'm sure it's all pretty frustrating for him.

I just wish he'd focus more on his football instead of those 'You're so moneysupermarket' ads.

Brilliant, looks like Mourinho has more concern for Shaw's mental side than his actual ability too. Mourinho could do Shaw the world of good, he has excellent physical attributes for a full back and defensively he's already quite good. Under Jose's tutelage he could become the best full back in the league.

Shit, this sucks for the media. Everybody that they have deemed unhappy has pretty much been refuted.

Who else can they make up a story on to 'unsettle' and get united fans angry about. Maybe Pogba and Bailly next season, but this season, possibly DDG again? or herrera? Havent had a story about him yet.
"Herrera wants CL football and move back to spain to become a spain regular" could work.

He said the world transfer record will be broken again soon...I think we are signing Neymar

Shaw has the potential to be world class. Hopefully the injury goddess would be kind to him. And yes, Mou isn't stupid. If most, if not all, of us here can see how good Shaw will be, so can Mou.

It's a relief to hear. But how about justs try playing him

I'm waiting for the Jose is a genius posts when he does eventaully break into the side. But imo he was fine at the start of the season

this article certainly makes Jose haters gnash their teeth in anger. now we know that Jose has a plan for Shaw in his team. good!

What? Really? I mean, why? I don't exactly hate Jose, but I'm definitely not a massive fan of him - but why would his having a plan for Shaw make me gnash my teeth? a) I like Shaw, and would love to see him make it at Utd, and b) I'm not a character in a kid's picture book

No wait, Jose hates Shaw and wants him out of the club quick style, doesn't he? In fact he hates any player under the age of 27.

Am I a hater for hating the word 'hater', as if there's been a Facebook post making a call to arms to go onto Twitter to defend our favourite member of One Direction from someone who said his hair was shit?

Isn't Rashford the new one?

Relief is the emotion I'm feeling right now. I still have high hopes for Luke.

I honestly felt he was our best outfield player before his injury. I've been surprised at some of the comments here about his pre-injury performances, as I thought was fantastic up till then.

It must be a very difficult thing to come back from and I really hope he can get his head around it all. Still a great young prospect for us.

Good to hear. We need him back to his best.

Mourinho has demonstrated superb man management skills since coming here, despite the campaign to convince us of the contrary.

Shaw has it in him to the best lb in the business, I think Mourinho is the man to get him there too.

I heard Mrs Jones the cleaner is holding out for a new plastic handled mop. She has been offered a wooden handled one, and is threatening to leave if the plastic one isnt forthcoming. Its all over the daily bucket!

Sad!

Encouraging words, hope it means more appearances. No more Rojo and Darmian starting ahead of him.
