From MEN:

"So maybe we don't get two, we get one, but we need one player to give us more options, the squad needs that balance, we have players that belong to the squad but cannot play for next three or four months, Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young, Luke Shaw, if Zlatan stays we have three or four players that only by the end of the year can be back to football."

Anyone have any idea what injury they each picked up? How the hell can players with what looked like muscular injuries be out for as long as someone who needed ACL reconstruction?

luke shaw had an ankle injury during our swansea game
young had a hamstring injury vs celta vigo

I'm bored of Shaw.

Maybe I'm being harsh, but I often am left wondering how much he actually wants to play. He never seems fit.

Feck sake Shaw.. You crocked cnut. So thats why he wasnt sold this summer...

That is crazy, surely a ligament injury, hamstring should be recoverable before the season starts. Even during the season a hamstring usually means around 6 weeks? Something very odd there. We're crocked before we even start. Goodness knows if we get more injuries during the tour....

Fairly sure he was misquoted on Shaw.

Looks like we'll be starting the season with Blind or Darmian at Left Back then.. I expected Darmian to be sold, but if Shaw and Young's recoveries have been halted then selling a full back seems illogical (unless he was to trust Borthwick-Jackson or Mitchell, maybe just play Tuanzebe or Fosu-Mensah there if needed). It's really surprising, surely they must have had a recurrence of the same injury if they trained again? It does sound like there's a reasonable chance one of them can be back for one of the first few competitive games in August though.

Our injury record is shocking.

It's strange the way we never get detailed updates on injuries. In other clubs/leagues you hear about exactly what grade muscle tear players have. We don't even find out what sort of injury they have.

Maybe a thing of "why give our opponents any more info?"

If it really mattered, no teams would do it.

Sucks that Shaw and Rojo who needed good seasons, will not be fit till December at least and then settling in a "maybe" well settled team might create more issues. This season might be a write off for Zlatan, Shaw, Young and Rojo.

Would rather see Mitchell or CBJ play than watch either of Blind or Darmian at left back.

I read somewhere that United have hopes that Shaw will be fit for the first league game of the season.

If Shaw and Young are out that long why were they named in the tour squad? Doesn't make much sense.

Shaw barely hurt his ankle/foot like 2 months ago. Even with surgery he would be back training by now.

Young and Shaw are on the tour, were doing separate training from the team the first day. I think they will be out a few weeks, hardly the new year. Shaw is always injured.

Rojo is on the tour too but I think he's just there for the experience. There are no photos of him on getty. Here are Young and Shaw:

In training gear so they'll be training away from main group for now and won't be long back. I think Mourinho grouping the two in with Rojo and Zlatan was just to make a point of "I really need more players - look at all these injuries"

Why, do you not like to win? Or are you strictly talking about pre-season.

No just bored watching one player who runs at walking pace in a position we need pace and drive and another who is very limited in possession of the ball. I would love to see Mitchell be given a chance or CBJ then Shaw coming back to challenge for the slot if we are not buying anyone.

Hopefully you're right. Not like Mou to exaggerate adversity, is it? ;)

Rojo wasn't named in the squad though. Shaw and Young were. I'd say you're right and Mourinho was just being a drama queen otherwise they wouldn't have been named in the squad.

Darmian finished the season very strongly, to be fair.

I can't believe we are still relying on Ashley Young to be a member of our squad. Even when he was fit last season, he hardly featured. When he did play, his contribution was very underwhelming. I know we're not heavily stocked on wide players, but surely we have some youth prospects who are more deserving of game time.

Don't even get me started on the madness of his weekly wage. As a result, I suppose we won't be able to get rid of him until next season when his contract is up.

I really wouldn't take his words literally, seemed to me he was just bunching a group of injured players together. Will be very surprised if Shaw and Young are injured beyond august.

To be fair I've watched 90% of his games since he signed @Pogue Mahone and he struggles to pass a football.

He's probably been crap in 80% of his game so I get where you're coming from. He still finished the season in good form though. Mourinho like his right footed, defensively strong, left backs so you might be seeing more of him than you think.

I hope Shaw becomes our Ashley Cole then as Jose liked him also.
