Quietly brilliant again. But at the risk of asking too much of Luke, I’d like to see more in attack from him.
In the right games he does more attacking than he has been doing lately. He still put in some good attacking passes and was getting into a sort of left-sided no10 position at times.

The Bournemouth match wasn’t a game where he was getting to the byline but he’s certainly done that in other games when circumstance has allowed.

Could be maturing somewhat and improving his decisions about how and when to get involved with the attack without exposing the defence too much. Let’s hope he doesn’t get too risk averse but it is a balancing act.

Shaw has the best control easily in the squad. There aren’t many players on the planet who can control a ball as well as him right now.

Shaw is one of the best defenders we’ve ever had at the club in his current form. I honestly think he would give Evra a run for his money at this age.

Irwin obvs had more end product but we all know Sir Alex would have worked wonders with Shaw.

He went from an average signing (expensive teenager) to a genuine world class player who would start for almost any club side. Fair play.

Just had a look back at the garbage that was being posted about Shaw back in September. I hope some of the negative posters have had a word with themselves since then. He’s had a very good season.

He just sometimes starts slow and will probably do it again next year. But by October he'll be in full swing and undroppable

That other fullback, the awb fella, did alright

It’s a concern wih Shaw. Too many crosses comong in from his side and too much space given.

He’s been great this season, but his one on one defending can be a concern.
I don't blame Shaw so much in this game, Chelsea just ran past our midfield as if it wasn't there in the first half, to often Shaw had essentially 2 players to mark

Shaw has the best cross in the team and is useful for our attacking play when playing at LB but think in some aspects playing as centre-back suits him better. He tends to switch off at times when playing at LB while I think it doesn't happen as often when he plays as CB. And it's why I'd start him next to Varane in Fa Cup final though it would perhaps be harsh on Lindelof who's been great lately.

Why would they have a word when he was shite back then? He was literally one of the main reasons we lost 7-0 to Liverpool. It's Shaw who had a word with himself and upped his game significantly, and is playing very well for months now.

This is exactly the shit I’m talking about.

Yeah, the shit where our fans are happy with players who aren't performing well, we should just keep quiet about that and stop doubting them, because they have been equally shite/good for few years prior to that?

Some of us could see what a good player he was and didn’t think selling him was a good idea. I take it you were one of the people calling for him to be binned.

Anyone who wants to sell some players before finding better replacement is clueless, I can agree with that. Even if we/anyone wanted new LB, at worst he would be a good backup, IMO. But he's proved he is more than capable of being part of strong first XI.

Man City 2:1 Man Utd
Top player with shit mentality.

Hides and shits his pants any time we play big game, and it's been like that for years. He is completely different level player against big teams vs level against shite teams, and it was like that ever since we've signed him. He was worst player against Liverpool, and shite in most of big games this year, and again one of our worst players, which is ridiculous because he was our best player in all other games. At least he did decent defensively today though.

He simply has small club mentality, IMO. Claims about best fullback in the world are ridiculous because they are based on games against lower table opponents, he never proved himself in important games for us.

Absolutely baffling post to make after that game. Reeks of agenda.

What exactly did Shaw do wrong today?

You think he had good game?
He didn't do much wrong. Would have liked him to influence the game further forward, but it wasn't a bad performance by any means.

I'm honestly dumbfounded that you wrote that after the match and so soon after. It reeks of agenda.

The defence wasn't the problem today. Luke Shaw least of all.

Weird post.

He did nothing today. Which is an improvement on his big games where he is usually shite defensively too.

He was fine, got forward plenty and didn’t make any errors so I’m confused as to why you’ve singled him out.

Luke Shaw was usually one of our playmakers this season, and he was nowhere to be seen today. Where am I blaming him for defensive part of his game?

I don't agree... The few times we managed to progress up the pitch often had him involved.

Thought he was our best player. One of the few you could easily see playing in this City side in fact.

In the 80th minute when Sancho came off he had more touches with the ball than Shaw, who was our least involved player. He started playing football in the last 5-10 minutes of the game when City started defending.

Hardly surprising cos Sanch touches the ball about 10 times in a single possession before losing it pointlessly.

He played well and was solid and dependable today. I'd have liked to see him in attack more, but no real complaints overall.

He had a good season apart from those few odd performances against Liverpool and maybe Arsenal.
