Grim, though not quite dire. Telles needs to be given a run of starts.
It wasn't actually one of the worst performances from him even this season alone.Worst performance I have ever seen by him and one of the worst I've ever seen from a Utd player. Guy should pack his bags and go on a vacation for a month to some place without great cuisine. Then come back and train for a month before ever playing again.
I'm a fan but he's a calamity like this. I'd rather see Telles and Fred at LB.
In the end Jose was right about him just as he was with Pogba unfortunately. I think Jose could see from day one he was a fragile player and one you'd have to push constantly to get the best out of him.
Its no surprise he went up a gear when we seemed to provide some proper competition for him. He had a career year last year but didn't have the mentality to push on and be even better. Fullbacks are one of the most consistent players in football but in Shaw's time here at the club he's been anything but consistent.
He should also be pushing on as a leader in this team as he's been here 7 years now but he seems to be one of our worst performers when we go through adversity. Same could be said of our 'captain'.
If you know he's bang average based on the odd cup game you should be a scout. This guy has been quietly terrible all season. And to think he hit such heights last year and in the summer. Fallen off a cliff. Telles is bang average himself but he could do with some time out.

All I know is Telles is not a calamity and Shaw and Dalot are. Deserves to start while Shaw sorts his shit out.
They supposedly had a really good relationship at Southampton. At least he wont get the Jose treatment which he pretty obviously reacted badly to.If it's Poch, then he will get his ass kicked. Full backs are extremely key for his style.
That's fair.I knew he was bang average before he joined us.
That's fair.
I had never seen him before we bought him.
Anyway Shaw looks like an amateur right now so Telles or Fred at LB would be an improvement.
I like Shaw, but considering the poor form he’s been in, he should be worried.

I wont be sorry to see an upgrade.
Shaw is a decent player but incredibly stunted in the attacking side of the game and lets face it a winning team needs a full back that can play offensively too

Personally I'm quite worried about it. There were two weeks between them, but that's basically the absolute minimum you want to have.I'm surprised no one is concerned about the concussion(s?). Didn't he go off last 2 PL games?
Even worse if it was just one concussion dragging on. I would have thought there'd be questions asked, since concussions is such a concern. Maybe that's not a PL thing?Personally I'm quite worried about it. There were two weeks between them, but that's basically the absolute minimum you want to have.
He really needs to be given a good long rest for his own health. Getting multiple concussions in such a relatively short period of time can potentially have devastating health impacts in the short or long term.
Your tweet isnt showing up.
Telles would work well under Rolf’ system, so Luke will certainly have some serious competitionThis was said in September 2020 and that was before the emergence of Shawberto.
As soon as Luke sees the lazy cnuts in our team lift their game he will as well.
Telles' defending is shit. Not on Dalot shitness level but still within that range. Every time i watched Telles, I can't understand how a fullback just can't do a simple defending.Telles would work well under Rolf’ system, so Luke will certainly have some serious competition
I think Telles has no hope in the Premier League as he is weak and is a turnstile in defence but we will see what Ralf thinks.Telles would work well under Rolf’ system, so Luke will certainly have some serious competition
2 bad head injuries very close to another isn't a great thing.I understand Shaw had concussion from the City match and therefore missed the international matches. But was back for Watford...
I've tried to remove the Watford game from memory but am I right in thinking that his head injury in the Watford match was caused by the ball hitting him on the head? I'm surprised he's missed this much football as a result if that's the case - unless the club are using it as an opportunity for a rest / reset (much needed given this season's form)
They both have played a lot of football and probably just need a rest. I don’t hugely rate Maguire but I think Shaw is talented and just needs a rest. Maguire is solid too but I think the strain of the captaincy is taking a toll. Take it off him and let him focus on football.Fair to say Shaw, and Maguire, have both been awful this season and a big reason why we have conceded so many goals from their side of the pitch.
I think we need to upgrade both full backs, but maybe Ralf can actually teach them how to defend.
Quiet thread this. Shaw was absolutely fantastic last season and it's only 5 months since he scored in the EURO final, being hailed as the best left back in the world. Even Roberto Carlos was raving about our Shawberto.
So what the hell happened this season? Him and Maguire has played like absolute clowns.
I'm taking the easy way out and blaming it all on Ole. It's only so long you can get motivated by getting told to "express yourself".
To really get this season back on track we need last years Shaw back. You could give him the ball in any situation and he'd always find a way out, no matter how hard he was pressed and isolated at the sideline. A terrific asset to have.
Alex Telles, as decent as he's been, is just nowhere near the same level.
As usual, people get carried away.
Shaw and Maguire like others from the England squad are feeling the effects of the Euros.
Stones has lost his place at City, Kane isnt firing, Mount lost his place at City.
This happens to certain players post international tournament.
With the United players, its not been helped with the lack of organisation in the team, when your forwards and midfielders dont help defensively, the defence will look bad.
