You mean actually having a left footed player playing on the left hand side, and not having to check back all the time. Yes modern science this football lark
Ball rentention, can beat the press, tucks in narrow at times beside matic allowing pogba more freedom to roam to name a few.

All pivotal to our tactics.

No one said he's out most important

Pivotal means almost the same. Someone like Marcelo was pivotal to Real Madrod's attacking play, Evra was very important to our play but was never pivotal, but Shaw isn't anyhwere near important as any of them tbf.

Saying that, there is a huge difference between him and Williams.

I think you can have more than one pivotal player.

For instance id say matic is also pivotal.

Arguing semantics here at this stage, either way we badly need shaw back and a competent back up fot when, not if, he gets injured again.

No, it doesn't. Pivotal is just another word for important. And yes, Shaw is pivotal to us because he links well with Rashford, he is far better defender than most players in our team, he is good in the air, he is a good passer of the ball. It is not surprising that our goals conceded have rocketed since he has been injured.

Luke Shaw against Sevilla and we would win. That is the definition of pivotal.

We would be in the finals if Luke was fit.

Don't know about that, but we would have done a lot better. He's a lot better in both going forward and defensively than Williams at the moment. He complements Rashford a lot better too.

I agree with what you're really trying to say, which is that Shaw has been fantastic for us this season and that we suffer a drop in going with Williams. But I dispute the implication that Shaw's absence led to the goals we conceded. What really conspired against us was a combination of poor finishing and solid work by the opposing keeper. We had 20 shots on, one of which was the penalty we scored on, and converted on none of them. At least five of those chances I regard as glorious, three of which truly should have been seized on for goals.

Shaw's absence had nothing to do with our poor finishing.

You do realise we have lost many games with Shaw playing, including games against:
Astana
Watford
Arsena
Liverpool

That's from 26 full games he has played this season. We also drew 8 games out of those 26 in which we conceeded games in 7 out of 8 of those draws.

That's pretty average record for "pivotal" player.

Really don’t get why people like Shaw. He’s okay going forward but has no end product. He’s okay in defence without being dominant. He’s an okay player, that’s about it. Add in his injury record (fewer than 100 league appearances in 6 seasons!) and it’s not a player I think you can really make an argument for.
