Lukaku to Chelsea? €100m bid + player rejected

Why are United fans doubtful of Lukaku's ability? We literally saw him in a red shirt for 2 years.
That’s exactly the reason we are doubtful of him and exactly the reason we were happy to offload him.

It's always rubbed me a bit the wrong way how every pundit became a huge Lukaku fan the moment he left us.

I understand he's done extremely well in Italy, but have to wonder how much of that is the league versus the player.

Personally wouldn't be that bothered if he rocks up at Stamford Bridge. Especially at that kind of price.

He’d give them goals but no game breaking ability or big game ability.

I’m fine with that. And I’m sure Chelsea are too, because Lukaku helps Chelsea against the lesser sides. Securing those points makes them title contenders.

Chelsea blowing their budget on an expensive donkey, leaving one less club in for Haaland next year? Subscribe.

I’ve never wanted us to sell a player as badly as when we had Lukaku

Really not my type of player or person. The thumbs up at every rubbish pass attempt to him. The refusal to celebrate. Being offended by everything. Saying he wanted to leave after like a day. Just no.

Any chance you can save us from ourselves again?

I'm clearly in the minority but I thought he did well here. Did not look as smooth and crafty as a Rashford but he put the ball in the back of the net.

Potentially Great news for us long term as if I was to guess it would make us favourites for Halaand next season.

For the upcoming season though not so great news as Chelsea Liverpool and City will all be insanely though competition.

So refreshing that for once we've sorted our business early, and we can enjoy the plebs trying to make transfers.

He will always score goals wherever he goes but your whole team would have to function in a way that suits him. Giving the ball to Ashley Young at left to cut inside and cross it to him was a major part of our strategy under Jose.

What was incredibly difficult to watch was his inability to consistently get involved in build up and find his team mates. We would have players making runs beyond him but when the pass comes into him it would break down or his pass to a team mate would kill the move.

A good player for a very specific system. Certainly not one that is worth 100m nor one that I would be bothered about going to a rival.

London is a far better city than Milan, by a long way. Imo of course, and I live in North Manchester.

Always found Milan a bit of a disappointment compared to other Italian cities.

You would need to be absolutely mental to think living in London is better than Milan

Not sure anyone is doubtful of his stat padding ability against poor sides. Not a chance he's a £100m player though. If Chelsea pay that for a striker that can barely hold up the ball or effect big games in any meaningful way it'll be hysterical.

£100m for Lukaku...feck me.
A goal scorer with his record domestically and internationally, leading Inter to their first title in over 11 years, winning the Serie A player of the year… feck me. I guess you’ve got to wear really short shorts and win a lot of fouls to be valued at that fee.

I don’t think people misunderstood when I said “doubtful of his ability”. I meant that there are people here who seem unsure of what kind of player Chelsea would be getting. We should all know exactly the type of player he is and his severe limitations.

His spell wasn't exactly a failure in terms of goals but that whole muscle gain thing was one of the most ridiculous things i've seen in terms of the impact it had. It really didn't help him or the team, i often remember him looking knackered after a sprint.

If Chelsea get him they'll get a 20/30 goal a season striker, rarely injured and who can torment defences on his day. They also get a player prone to patchy form, a bit of an ego, an inconsistent touch, not a great big game record and probably no resale value. If Haaland is available next year it's no contest who most people would rather have.

€15m from Anderlecht to Chelsea
€35m from Chelsea to Everton
€85m from Everon to United
€74m from United to Inter
€120m? from Inter to Chelsea

If this goes through the money paid for him along the years will be close to 330m. That is absolutely insain, Reckons he surpasses Ronaldo and Neymar and he'll surpass Mbappe.

On the subject, I believe he will make them a better team. He'll get his 20 goals a season but eventually he'll still end up as a bit 'meh'. He just doesn't add anything to the flow of the team except his goals.

There's not a player more underrated by the Caf than Lukaku. It's ridiculous how so many people refuse to admit he's a very good striker. He'd improve Chelsea quite a bit and possibly make them title challengers. Still, better him than Haaland.

What's he good at again?

Anytime you hear the word donkey or animal refering to a player, it seems to be towards a black player. Not sure its just me but the tone always makes me wonder and question the reasoning behind it…

We watched him literally stink it up here for two years if anything our fans should be the best possible judge of his abilities. He's just not that good, simple as that.

Ohh be quiet you clown, he is a donkey nothing to do with his race. Also, donkeys aren't even black ffs. Do you not think it could be because he has a touch like a bag of cement?

If Kane is worth $100 million, Lukaku worth at least 120 IMO.

Giroud is also referred to as a donkey.
Tony Adams had the nickname donkey too I think.
Gatusso was described as animal/beast a lot during his playing time.
Tevez is a snake.
Rooney was Shrek.
Ortega was little donkey if I remember correctly.

I don't think it's a racial thing personally.

Yea, just you.

Scoring goals. Nice treat to have for a striker.
Somehow getting a decent number of em while missing sitter after sitter, sometimes missing the ball completely, and fecking up loads of opportunities before he even gets chance to shoot. It's no surprise we score more without him, even if the striker doesn't.

Nah, Andy Carroll was labelled a useless donkey too.

Grealish fee is ridiculous.
