Lukaku: Aguero successor

I hope so. He will score goals but then most strikers would playing for them and the amount of ball and chances they have

He's worse than Aguero though

Nah Lukaku doesn’t fit that City team at all. Kane would be absolutely perfect for them (or anyone tbf) - his assist record is on par with his goal scoring record which is saying something!!

Would be bizarre trying to watch their intricate play with him up front, but would overall be annoying as people would overrate him, and be whinging that we "shouldn't have let him go" for every more.

Yeah. It works both ways on here. He gets hated and called crap and a donkey then he gets called a top top player. The truth is in the middle he is a goalscorer and is a very good player but letting him go was a good decision. Not replacing him was criminal

That flaw is the reason why he won't be a hit at City.

I don't see him playing quick interchanging passes with Sterling, KDB, sudden burst of acceleration (Like Aguero or Jesus) & his first time shots are well below elite level.
He will struggle to perform at City.

Agree completely. He would not fit into City's style of play and quick passing. I also can't see any team paying the ridiculous amount they would want for Haaland this summer...maybe Kane at his age is an option.

You think that'll be annoying, wait until Pep fixes his first touch within a month.

When discussing someone who 'doesn't run much', using the distance covered is a perfect metric, as that will show how far on average that person runs.
That’s fair enough, although if we’re going by the literal definition, it would be the number of sprints as we’re talking about running and not walking. But since I meant it in a way that this phrase is usually used (and that’s my bad), as in describing the ability and willingness to participate in pressing, he’s pretty shit at it and Pep benched a peak Agüero for not pressing enough.

It's not that outlandish to be honest. He's proven he can score goals. Jesus does all the linkup work and one touch play outside the box but no one on here cares because he doesn't score "enough" , but it would be an issue with Lukaku who's a better goal scorer?

No reason why Lukaku can't give them another dimension, similar to a striker like Dzeko.

I’d throw in £20 to get Lukaku to City. That would be the worst move they could make and would offer their rivals a genuine opportunity to bridge the gap. I can’t actually believe there’s Utd fans who think he would do well after seeing him here, delusional.
You have managed too sum-up my own thoughts perfectly, as it would be the biggest mistake that, cITY could make & therfor let us all hope they go ahead & sign him.

What about all the barmy chances he missed here? He’s a great goal scorer, apart from when he’s missing ridiculously easy sitters, missing the ball completely, miscontrolling it before he even gets the opportunity to shoot, tripping over it while dribbling, and getting outmuscled by people half the size of him. I can already imagine Pep going nuts on the touchline.

Half-jokes aside, him virtually camped in/around the six-yard box making smores and waiting to be on the end of their forty-eight trillion chances created per match is something to ponder.

He’d start off like a man possessed and bang them in, but gradually tail off and be replaced by Sterling/KDB/Mahrez/Silva/Foden front line

He does that already with most City players

Lukaku not pretty when he isn't on form, I agree. Maybe that's where squad rotation comes in.

I don't know where to find this information but I wonder what Lukaku's chance conversation has been this season compared to other strikers.

Right, he only has to put some proportion away and his numbers will be insane.

Of course the same applies for Haaland.

Of course it would. This is exactly why Jesus regularly plays for Pep even though he hasn’t been able to establish himself as a consistent goalscorer for years now.

Interesting you read that as rude. Classic projection, perhaps. Either way ironic, considering how many times you've been let off the hook when you've called other posters 'stupid twat's or some such. Pro-tip, not everyone's out to try to put someone down. Breathe in, grasshopper.

Your reply was directed at me, and I interpreted the reply to have a rude intention. I know it can be read as a question if you put in all the goodwill in the world possible, but you asking the question in that way assumes from the outlook that I have no experience. Or you would have at least tried to counter why I said that people who run big companies don't care about what oppo fans think.

You also didn't bother to reply to my earlier answer to you which further makes me think that your intention was not asking me a question, but you were trying to insult me cause you didn't like that I opposed your view.
I mean, my initial reply was done in a sarcastic manner since I found your theory silly, so I could to an extent understand you wanting to be rude back to me. But it's good to learn that you never meant it to be. Thus to answer you again, yes I do have experience managing organizations at various levels, but nothing as big as a top football club.

The 'fantasy' part is your opinion and you're welcome to it. Some might say one can't really take it seriously when IIRC quite a few people have pointed out all the times you've not watched a match and then berated peoples' opinions on it and then being called out for such. Talk about weird behavior. Although a good shrink would be able to tell you exactly why you do that.

ok

He would score loads for them though. Guess who has the most assists to Lukaku for the Belgian national team? And that's just one player.

Not sure if anyone has answered this question. But why would lukaku leave italy? Last I read he loved it over there and his brother plays in italy as well. I know inter are in financial trouble but there are alot of inter players id offload before lukaku.

I know many dont rate him, i do. I was sorry to see.him leave. Hes a proper goalscorer, really dont want to see him at city.

No inter aren’t a top club now and aren’t in a top league. The reality is Martial put in performances last season in a Utd shirt that Lukaku couldn’t dream of. His poor showing this season doesn’t change that fact.
Seria A is easily a top league, to suggest otherwise is just arrogance. Besides Inter is on track to comfortably win it this year, and came really close last year. How does that not make them a top team? If they're not, does United really have a claim to be one while Lukaku was there?
He thrives in a slower league where he can bully people with his physicality. Nothing to do with chances, he had more than enough here.
He put up similar numbers in his last season at Everton, so I don't think it's about slower league or not.

Imagine City in the Champions League final, 1-0 down. It's the 94th minute, a corner comes in, Gundogan gets a good header in, it's heading to the top corner but Lukaku's head is in the way.

From a random article I found from March 26th referencing a Sky Italia report :

Lukaku has silenced all his critics with the Nerazzurri by posting Serie A’s best conversion rate in the 2020-21 campaign, having so far scored 29.2% of all his shots on goal. The 27-year-old finds the net once every 3.5 shots, the report explained, putting him just ahead of Atalanta’s Luis Muriel (who has converted 28%) and a long way clear of Zlatan Ibrahimovic (23.4%) and Cristiano Ronaldo (19.1%).

For comparison with our players: Martial 9.3%, Rashford 14.3%, Cavani 23.1%, Bruno 17.8%.

Including myself most here believe he’ll score load there but will make them less fluid and worse in attack. I hope this happens as I think it will imbalance there attack compared to what it is but I feel Pep is too smart too sign him

He has a good conversation rate but that says more about our strikers than him. We are woeful at converting our chances

He also has 8 assists, which is joint most in Serie A. Seems like he's having a good season.
He is. Conte wanted him first thing when he went to Inter he knew what he was getting, knew his limitations but has played to his strengths and benefited with most likely a league title. Conte is a great manager

Jesus plays despite having deficiencies in one aspect of his play. Given City's tendency to be wasteful in front of goal, it's not implausible IMO for Pep to go for Lukaku given his skillset.

I would bet against this transfer, because of how much Lukaku would cost.
