Lorius Karius to Liverpool?

Don't know a single thing about him.

No idea who he is but as Tommy said, he's a keeper so sign him up! He's got to be better than Mignolet.
 
as a Norwegian, I can't take a keeper whose name is Karius, seriously. But on a more serious note....from what I haved seen of him, I get the feeling he could be a bit DDG. Really struggling on set-pieces at first. He is not the tallest and could need 5 kilo of muscles.
 
any first choice keeper in the bundesliga should be a massive improvement on mignolet.
 
He is a good kepper and is better than Mignolet. How high his ceiling is nobody knows. He is one of a few talented German GK's coming through in the last few years, Horn too. There are a few established ones too, like Zieler, Leno and Fährmann. I am surprised they arent getting discussed for potential moves.
 
He sounds like a Roman centurion, perfect keeper material.

Would he become their first choice?

Horn was in consideration for Dortmund last summer and might be in for it now, too. I wouldn't have minded him or Karius.

Zieler said he'll leave and has offers he considers. Leno decided to not make use of his summer's exit clause at Leverkusen. Fährmann is devoted to Schalke, and with Christian Heidel and a new head coach at the helm (Weinzierl?) I assume he waits anther season to see which direction Schalke is heading towards.

Seeing as Mignolet statistically is about the 27th worst of 30 keepers with 5+ games in this league, the same would hold true in the premier league.
 
"Chuck Loris" Karius is an amazing keeper, him leaving would be a big blow for us. I'd consider his shot stopping world class, almost de Gea-esque really, and he's also great at stopping one-on-ones. He is still a bit iffy at dealing with crosses, but he's improved a lot at it already. His footballing ability is kind of average, he's good at finding teammates with long balls, but not particularly impressive with the ball at his feet otherwise.

Overall Karius would be a major improvement over Mignolet for Liverpool. I certainly hope that if we sell him, it would be for a lot more than €10m.

You should not sign him for his hoverboarding skills however :lol:

If what you say above is true I'd say Karius sounds EXACTLY like Mignolet. What's the point of only changing the nationality of our keeper?

He is 22 and will improve further. He is already better than Mignolet too, would be a great signing for your team, especially for 10m.

I've had my fill of f*cking up at crosses and sh*tting one's pants everytime the ball arrives at the goalie's feet. We already have a promising Ward for that if required, we need a finished article now.

From what I've seen of Mignolet, Karius is a lot better. He is super consistent and is basically never the one at fault for the goals we concede. You're also exaggerating what I said about his footballing ability and dealing with crosses. He is much closer to de Gea than Mignolet.

He could be a bit like arguably the very best keeper on the planet? Sure you're not overrating him? De Gea is the best player in English football.

What happened to Rene Adler? I remember he was the next big thing in German football and got injured before the 2010 World Cup, which allowed Neuer to take his place.

Recall some people arguing for him to be VDS replacement at the time as well, and that he was a big United fan.

of course he is a good signing for free. He is easily worth 20m for english teams (considering the fees of Baba, Chambers, Gabriel, Lovren or Blind). He is not an elite defender, but he´d improve many teams. He is better than the likes of Gabriel, Blind or Mangala. There is a good chance, that he´ll turn into Liverpool´s best CB (depending of Lovren´s future development). Don´t get me wrong; he won´t single-handedly elevate them to a different level, but solving one problem in the squad for free is still good business. Liverpool have at least 2-3 other positions, where they need to improve (DM, LB, winger; goal-keeper), so they can´t spend all their money on just one or two players.
Who would have been better than Matip, if they don´t want to pay a crazy fee?

If they sign Karius as well, they´ll improve two positions in their starting11 for 10m€ and both players can still improve. It also might allow them to spend a bit more on a DM or a winger.

When was the last time we got anyone for that kind of money, who didn´t flop? Probably Smalling and Chihca in 10/11.

He was never the same after his injury. Leno replaced him in Leverkusen, so he joined Hamburg, where he never really found form again. He has the odd game, where you can still see his old talent, but in between he make a shitload of stupid mistakes. Imo one of the worst keepers in the league. Dunno if his decline is down to the physical damage or rather in his head. Imo its both and he won´t come back.

He's a big United fan. He apparantly had a release clause just for United in his contract at Leverkusen, but he was always overhyped. A rather limited but spectacular shotstopper and he never developed further. His injuries didn't help. Neuer should have been first choice ahead of him after the Euro 2008 anyway, but Löw kept the established order after Lehmann retired. Enke was 2nd and Adler 3rd goalkeeper at the Euro 2008 while Neuer still played for the u21, winning the u21 Euro in 2009. Both in the 2008/09 and 09/10 seasons Neuer was already the by far best goalkeeper in the league and it was ridiculous that he wasn't first choice for Germany.

He's a decent CB that's all. He wouldn't improve our defence one bit for instance.
 
Tbf Adler was amazing back then too and did extremely well for Germany when he played. I'd say his injuries ruined what would've otherwise been a great career.

That explains why he's fallen off the radar recently. It's always sad to see players not fulfil their potential due to injuries, especially someone who dreamt of playing for United.

Wow you have no idea what you're talking about. Adler has been amazing for us. Pretty much faultless this entire campaign besides giving a pen or two away. This year he was one of the best keepers in the league, no question. I don't rate Kicker in any way but they graded him as the 3rd best player in the League out of 207, there might be something to it... In 12/13 when he arrived he was in the team of the season. Only the year after he wasn't as good but the whole team failed. If he wasn't so injury prone he would be playing for a top club right now, mind you he still would absolutely have the quality to do so.
 
Kicker reports it's a done deal for only €10m, not sure how reliable they are though. Delighted if true.

James Pearce tweeted earlier that we're in talks and confident of getting a deal done so it looks likely.
