Loris Karius appreciation thread

Been dubbed ‘calamity Karious’ in tomorrow’s papers

Wow just seen the two goals. Words fail me. Mistakes bad enough in a normal league game but a major cup final is something else.

Even contemplating throwing the ball out towards Benzema was risking it massively.

Neither are good enough although Mingolet probably wouldn't have conceded quite comical goals tonight.

I always remember when he signed Liverpool fans were claiming he was the voted the second best keeper in the Bundesliga after Neuer. Always baffled me considering how many german keepers there are in Bundesliga and his lack of call ups to national team.

He was fairly good in Germany, I don't recognize him at all. He was a work in progress but he wasn't as shaky as he has been with Liverpool from day one.

Even the 2nd goal, he could've done better in it.

This is what i was saying. He seemed to pull away from it when it looks like he could (maybe i am wrong) have got a hand to it. Still though, what a goal. Ronaldo will be jealous.

How do you even recover from something like that?

I don't think you can, the Benzema mistake was careless beyond measure and stupid as hell. For him to then mess up that easy save makes it cherry on the cake. Two goals is massive in the CL final and for them to be made by mistakes like that? Good grief.

Has been a weak spot for Liverpool for ages now, they'd be crazy to not try and improve this position in the summer.

I genuinely hope the Pool staff looks after him. Its a sport after all and you wouldn't want someone to go into depression. None of the teammates came to console him, when ideally every player should have gone to him to console him after that

Reminded me of that Benfica keeper this season against you lot who threw one in the net.

This was much worse, both of his mistakes. Svilar's (Benfica goalkeeper) momentum fooled him and he thought he will stop before the goalkeeper's line. It was marginal also. Not to mention he was an 18-year-old kid in a debut.

You've got to feel sorry for him. To embarrass yourself when the whole world is watching must be hard.

No Liverpool player talked to him or consoled him. Obviously.

Would be just like Klopp to keep starting Karius next season though.

@KM couldn't get a good quality gif that was also under the 15MB limit. Crappy video is the best we can do so no loop :(

Damn man, it still looks good to me though!

Also for the second goal, he doesn't even get his arm up. Obviously you can't expect a keeper to save a shot like that, but you can expect them to at least reach for it. It was from the edge of the box and it wasn't a particularly fast ball, just difficult to reach. When you don't even manage to extend your arm, there's a problem.

The fact that none of his teammates came to console after the final is honestly surprising and disappointing. I'd like to think most of us in that position would think of how devasted he must be feeling after the final whistle blew. Having said all that he's earned cult hero status. The new Diego Forlan.

Does it make me a bad person that I genuinely feel no sympathy for him whatsoever?

And that I absolutely love this.

Nah you're fine. I feel the same way, and i'm a great person!
