Loic Remy: Levy Flying to Marseille

Oh come on Marching, the principle of these forums is 80% perception and 20% facts.I admit I have no basis on that, just a reasonable guess seeing as most footballers are generally not that bright and money grabbing whores.
I have no pb with players chasing the big pay day, I totally get that but I laugh at the idea that a player would be set up for life with a bigger wage when he was already earning an extravagant amount of money already.
You gotta laugh at the idea of going from being a french international player and regularly starting for his country to playing for QPR.

I think these days footballers are more aware their career is a short one and the opportunity to earn big money is even shorter. They also have their own advisers, personal managers....things have changed a lot over the last 10 years.

QPR are PL (hopefully not for much longer) but it does count for something on a players CV I guess.

It's like Sparky's dedicating his managerial career to disprove the notion that any manager can be successful with big financial backing :D

It does I guess, a player has to delude himself in some way when he wants to sign a shower of shit like QPR.

Loic Remy says computer game with Tony Fernandes persuaded him to join QPR rather than Newcastle

Loic Remy has claimed it was playing a game of “Fifa 2012” with QPR owner Tony Fernandes, rather than the chance to double his wages, that persuaded him to sign for the London club instead of Newcastle United.

QPR poached Remy from under Newcastle United's noses after they offered to pay him more than £80,000 a week, plus bonuses, on the day he travelled to London for a medical ahead of a proposed move to the North East.

But the 26 year-old tried to dismiss suggestions he had only gone to QPR for the money, insisting he made up his mind after playing the computer game with Fernandes at the end of four hours of negotiations.

“It showed to me what a good person Tony is,” said Remy, who triumphed playing as Bayern Munich against Fernandes’s Argentina. “He showed his human side to me as an owner of the club.”

The 26 year-old has signed for QPR for a fee of around £10 million, and will make his debut against West Ham United on Saturday.

“Harry [Redknapp] also played a big part in me coming here,” he added. “I spoke to him and Tony Fernandes at length and they made it clear they wanted me here. They gave me the right motivation to join QPR.”

Maybe it's because Ashley and Pardew are PES fans?

Never understood the PES following, FIFA all the way, in all seriousness, strange choice but if he makes his choice more based on his comfort of employment etc it is comendable on a personable level, however you do have to argue that Newcastle would potentially be a bigger platform to showcase his talent, unless he isn't overly career motivated... I'm not to sure as to what he is like as a person

Aye, they don't want to be lumbered with his contract in the Championship.

Their are rumors that Remy could leave on a free if QPR get relegated. Just rumors though.
