Liverpool's inevitable q̶u̶a̶d̶r̶u̶p̶l̶e̶ tr̶i̶p̶l̶e̶ dibble/ The Hala Madrid Thread

I don’t get the thread title change at all.
They have won the quad already. Keep up with the modern game ffs!

- League Cup (after scoring a grand total of zero goals over 120 mins and avoiding a red card)

- FA Cup (same as above)

- Dominating the PL trophy (no explanation needed)

- Coming closest to the quadruple trophy (despite not having the league in their own hands apart from for a couple of games between City’s dropped points against Palace and their game against Liverpool at the Etihad)

At least they haven’t really got you riled up!

Must hurt extra bad for them both the times they finished 2nd behind city was only by one point. Would have felt so much better if someone else had won ahead of Liverpool instead of a disgusting oil prince state like city....

Exactly

League
European Cup
FA Cup

That’s the only treble there is and they’ve still never done it.

I think it's a much harder achievements if they manage 2 domestic cups, CL title and 92 points in the league against an oil doped City compared to your 79 points in the league and 2 quite fortunate cup wins in '99.

That aside in 1984 they won the League, European Cup/CL and League Cup

And I think it was 2001 they won UEFA, FA Cup and League Cup.

If they do it this season that's 3 trebles and how many doubles. They probably have the most double seasons of various cups/leagues in English football history.

Typical salty Arsenal tears. Love it!
Cheers again for your part in our historical Treble season. Wouldn’t have wanted it any other way!

They're not wrong, we nearly did win the league. The same one that City had already won in March. Hope the Wolves fans can join us in Paris too.

That was 20 years ago, different league, different football, different anything. Despite the cheeky dig I'll ask anyway, how was FA cup fortunate? Liverpool didn't have luck in their games in both cups? Just like any team who wins anything. Proper treble is with a league in it. End of.
Pretty strange, Arsenal fan lauding Liverpool on United forum.

Nah
Tbh, Madrid counter-attacks are very dangerous and can cause a lot of troubles to our full-backs. I don't underestimate Madrid's mentality too.
The way they have reached the final is simliar to Spurs 2019. Liverpool will be a lot more focused defensively while Real Madrid are a bit of shambles defensively.

I respect a lot to United's 99 team especially their mentality. Both are excellent teams and they can't compare due to a lot of different circumstances.

The proper 'Treble' still hasn't been bettered

Gerrard letting it slip twice. Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke

Have you ever won the treble? have you feck.

mate you’re an Arsenal fan. You’re not qualified enough to talk to me about winning trophies.

Liverpool have won two trophies by not scoring a single goal this season yet you mention United being fortunate in 99

Rested Ings and Coutinho for this game, and then gets to feel the pain as a manager up close.
Glorious scenes.

They've just won 2 cups on pens without even scoring you clown. How isn't that fortunate :D

Probably what you'd expect from an Arsenal fan still singing about the "Invincibles" who lost in 3 cups that year.

I think I'd prefer to win a double having lost a few league games than a single league having not, wouldn't you?

There's trebles and then there's the treble United won. It's a glorious day that the latter is off the table.

It's objective reality that 92 points in the oil club and PL mega money is harder to achieve than 79 points in a weaker era. If you were objective you could admit a 79 point league team in a weaker PL era wasn't that amazing.

Would you class Liverpool’s two cup wins this season as “quite fortunate”?

They can have 10 more 90+ seasons for all I care. It’s the trophy which counts. You win the same trophy regardless of winning the league with 100 points, with an 18 points gap or on goal difference.

I'd be gutted as a Scouser. Arguably their best ever team, but this City lot have kept them down to 1 title in their red hot 5 year spell.
I was thinking the same. Unless you have an anomaly like Sir Alex, cycles like this don’t come around often and when they do you need to cash in and rack the trophies up. A bit like us and coming up against Peps’ Barca.

What trophy do you get for your objective harder achievement?
As Roy Keane said it, you don't get throphies for points won.

Your clubs biggest achievement was going unbeaten for a season but winning very little.

Funny your best ever team still couldn’t win much in this weak era of football.

League titles in the last decade:

Manchester United 1
Liverpool 1

And this is our worst ever PL team compared to Liverpool's greatest ever PL team.

He’s got to be wumming. Can’t be this daft surely?
