Liverpool will win the league | NARRATOR: They did not, in fact, win the league.

I'm not just listing players for the sake of replacements. I'm talking about your strongest XI having to go into every game. Always. Every three days. You will not be resting Been White (I can't believe you lot let that go over your heads :D ), and others. Neither do you have many games where you will be sufficient goals up by half time. It's not that stage of the season any more. Your Sheffield Utd games phase is over.

I dont think you understand what Im saying.

Im not listing replacements because they are there, those replacements can actually fill in for our first team. And its highly likely you will see them coming in for our players over the next month. You can be sure to see those players I've mentioned, come on in rotation. Either as early substitutes or starting the games.

The second thing about our "Sheffield United phase", it included a game against high flying Liverpool as well. I wouldnt call those games a phase, but rather the execution of attacking dynamics that the Premier League has not been able to deal with yet, and likely wont be able to deal with this season. It involves dynamic movement of our front three, and their rotations upfront being different to what was seen during the first half of the season. Particularly combination play between Havertz, Trossard, Martinelli, with Rice joining the forward line more as well.

The only thing that can stop Arsenal this run in, will be burn out and injuries, you are right there. Tactically, on the pitch... Arsenal are difficult to play against right now unfortunately.

But also, going forward you can see where Arsenal need to improve their game. Today against City for example, Arsenal werent good enough to win the game even with the few chances they created. The next step is to convert those key moments, and that improvement comes in the summer.

We have to at least get a draw against them. We should be looking to beat them of course given we just did a short while back.

No question I’d want Liverpool as a neutral, I’m slightly leaning that way even as a United fan. They just play football the right way, no matter who they face.
None of this “let’s keep 70% possession and not even attempt a slightly risky attack” bollocks.
Disgusting. Fans care more about style of play that pleases them than our rivalries

We really have to put on a performance at OT. This title race will define much of Klopp’s narrative at Liverpool and theirs as a club under him. Difference between 19 tiles and 20 titles, 1 in 8 or 2 in 8 under Klopp is big. Don’t let this shitty “fairy tale “ happen

I would rather Arsenal win it than Liverpool or City, our home game against Arsenal is going to be a bizarre one if Arsenal just need to win or draw to win the title.

Utd's biggest challenge of the season really starts now. Can they finish on a positive goal difference by the end of the season. I'm not even joking/wumming.

Edit: I've just checked you have Burnley and Sheffield Utd home games which could yield some positive goal difference. The rest are away which will likely all be draws or losses. You will need to keep the goals down against Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal to try to get into the black.

Wtf is this?

After the cup game I was confident that we could at least make a game of it again, and potentially get a draw in 90 mins. Now after Brentford it feels like another 5-0 Old Trafford thrashing is just as likely.

I really hope the players are up for it again, but not holding my breath.

A treble of cup final wins beckons. :)

I think our season with regards to the league is over and any chance of finishing in a European spot is gone with West Ham and Newcastle both having more favorable fixtures and being highly likely to finish 6th and 7th so our focus at this point has to be fully on winning the FA Cup.

There's still some minimal pride though. A top club finishing a 38 game season with a zero or negative goal difference is unprecedented. Shameful. Must rectify that at least.

What we witnessed at Brentford on Saturday showef they dont even have minimul pride, if Erik had any pride he would resign.

I'm wondering in which game Arteta can afford to rotate players at all this season remaining? By that I mean players playing 80+ minutes every three days. Considering the toughness of the games coming up, including Luton who are a tough cookie.

Goalie? Nope
Been White? No
Kiwior? Maybe, with Zinchenko
Gabriel/Saliba? Nope to both
Rice? Nope
Jorgino? Yes, Partey
Odegard? Nope
Havertz? Nope
Martinelli? Nope. Watch them hamstrings lad
Saka? Nope. See above.

That's pretty much 90 minutes every game, every three days. Might risk Trossard but there's no easy game for them to step in more than 10 minutes.

Liverpool have easy EL games and Sheffield Utd, etc, to rest the likes of VvD, Konate, Bradley (TAA), Gomez, Salah, Nunez (Jota), Diaz, etc. This is the big picture.

There was already heavy rotation yesterday.

Rice, Martinelli, Jesus, Jorginho, Kiwior were all rested. Saka didn't play either. Seemed to get on just fine.

It feels like Klopp is very much bigger than the club these days. Given all this fuss about him going. Strange to see a manager become more famous than a club of Liverpools pedigree and history really.

Yep, I was really impressed with yesterday's changes and result. Arteta gee'ed the boys up enough to get the result. But Luton home was going to be the last of your 'easy' games for a while I think (I'll have to check the fixtures again).

We'll probably face the same issue when the next manager makes us 'relevant' again.

Behave

I think they've already won it. If they hammer Sheffield United tonight, their goal difference will be miles ahead of City. That would mean Liverpool have to fail to win 2 matches while City would need to every match. Can't see that.

In terms of Arsenal they still have a couple of tricky away matches. With the points advantage and favourite fixture list (+refs) I think they're practically there.

Liverpool still have some banana skins - very premature.

He basically is the club and has been ever since arriving. He's the face, what we represent and stand for, and he embodies it. You can't say Liverpool without Klopp or vice versa these days.

What's more strange is that you find that strange, since it's literally happened to your own club. The name and branding Manchester United is more famous than SAF but what you've seen on the pitch since he left speaks for itself. And then you wonder why such a big deal is made out of Klopp leaving...

Same with every manager who stays a while and wins things though. SAF still looms large over United, Pep invented football when he moved to City, Klopp has been a media darling and PGMOL honorary member since he arrived, people even still think of Jose and Chelsea 1st stint and Wenger to a lesser degree with Arsenal (he stayed too long and now Arteta might win them a major honour, no doubt we'll see some 'hot' takes about how Arteta is actually better than Wenger from some tiktok stars and how that Arsenal team was overrated but this one is the best ever).

I think any comparison between what Sir Alex Ferguson achieved and the accomplishments of Klopp are quite odd. Especially when you consider the length of time both were at their clubs too (9 years v 27 years).

I didn't compare SAF and Klopp, I said the situations were comparable. If we don't appoint the right manager after him, we will fall into the same abyss Utd did.

I find it strange that Klopp has become bigger than Liverpool FC. You then brought up Sir Alex. Clearly the suggestion being that the two situations are comparable.

No you weren't.

We are absolutely crap, if we dobt change the manager then the only one of our remaining games I can see us winning is Sheff Ud at home.

Chelsea away - probably lose

Liverpool Home - probably lose

Bournemouth Away - probably lose

Sheff Utd Home - Should win

Burnley Home - probably draw

Palace away - Probably lose

Arsenal home - Probably lose

Brighton away - probably lose.

Our 2024 form is something like 9 wins 3 draws and 2 losses - behave.

crazy how much the fa are trying to gift them the league title. man city have had to play arsenal and villa in the last 4 days and liverpool only needed to beat sheffield united. i’d imagine it’s been the same over the course of the whole season.

Yes that is what I said indeed, that the situations are comparable.

Don’t see this yet, I can easily see a 3 way tie all on 89 points, that means I see Liverpool wining 7 drawing 1 Losing 1, they have United away, Villa away, West Ham and Everton Away who might need a point to stay up, then they have spurs and wolves at home who are not gimmes.

Arsenal have 8 games and have 68 points, see them wining 7 and losing 1, they have United, Wolves, Villa and Brighton all away from home not easy.
City are a machine and now in that tunnel vision, they slip up once at most with a draw and they have the easiest run in so they will accumulate goals against Palace, Fulham, Luton, Brighton, West Ham, Forrest and Wolves, Spurs away who are a bogey side might get a draw but this city team could win all those games 4 or 5 nil and accumulate another +30-35 on GD ?
