Liverpool start every season +6 points thanks to Everton. Has there ever been a more one-sided derby?

Your record at Goodison is still shite though, surely the objective shouldn't just be to avoid defeat against them every year.

Not beat them at home for nearly 13 years!

Of course, but I think at times it just comes down to a bit of bad luck. Anyway, a few Liverpool fans have said how much they hate playing at Goodison and don't really feel like they'll come away with a win. For some reason both clubs shit the bed at each others grounds and unfortunately for us Liverpool are a better side so more often than not beat us.

It’s like saying man United Bolton is a derby. Geographically they are technically a derby but there’s no fecks given from United and Chelsea fans to Fulham and Bolton.
My mother in law grew up in Fulham (before it became posh.. almost wrote pish by mistake) and she would tell you otherwise

I would love Everton to get relegated, even if just for a season. Offer more fight and passion against United than Liverpool. It's weird

Despite their set back I still think out of the bottom 4, Everton will survive with Leeds going down on the last day.

Likewise. Look at Leeds against us. And look at Everton vs Liverpool. Embarrassing.

And they are always putting up a fight against the rest of top 6 better than against Liverpool.

One question, why doesn’t Chelsea - Fulham count as a derby?
It is 100% a derby. I live in SW London - it's a derby.

Not as glamorous as some others mentioned here, but it is a derby.

All very true and just confirms the long held belief that Everton and Liverpool actually like one another.

You’re actually playing the whole city when you go up there.

Otherwise what? That chelsea fans don’t consider the Fulham game a proper derby?
Im sure Fulham fans see it as a big thing, as Bolton fans see it when they face United. Chelsea see their proper derbies against Spurs, West Ham and Arsenal. Us and Liverpool would be more disliked on their list than Fulham.
The two barely played each other due to Fulham being lower league so there’s no real deep history in the fixture.

There is no rivalry, just so happens that Goodison is close to Anfield the same way a Next might be close to a TK Maxx on a trading estate. Wouldn't call that a rivalry.
Not true. It’s one sided yes but try sitting at Goodison during a match and say it’s not a proper rivalry. Maybe it’s my age but Everton was always the team you wanted to beat more than anyone else. Then came the rise of united and now there were two teams to despise and that hasn’t changed for me anyway.

Might be one for the "weird feelings of football" thread but I feel like the only other team that consistently offer Liverpool as little resistance as Everton are Norwich City. Some rivals.

Anyway, if these perpetual little brothers go down this will be the last easy 3 points pool take from them for a while.

It’s frankly unprofessional how little they try against Liverpool. They seem to decide before every derby they will throw the game and the only decision is how and at what point in the game.

They raise their game against the rivals of their rivals which is completely pathetic. Spurs are quite similar (rolling over for Arsenal and then actually trying against City) but not to the same degree as Everton. Liverpool were coming off the back of a terrible run, but guess who was there to help them back. Unethical behaviour all round.

 some of you make very strange posts.

Moyes' pitiful record against Liverpool (really his record against all the big teams) as Everton boss was part of the reason I didn't want him at United back in 2013. I think I have it right that he only beat Liverpool 3 times in the league in his 11 seasons there? And never at Anfield? Such a long tradition of uselessness.

I too get really annoyed at people miles above my station in life too, while they barely notice me frothing at the mouth

Everton is just a pointless club and has been since the 90s.

This is why I always say to other Utd fans on here - why do you always want Everton to stay up? They’re as Scouse as the other Scousers. Horrible lot. Plus, it’s always guaranteed points for Liverpool every single season.

Everton fans are massive hypocrites. The dog’s abuse Koeman received yet Fat Tory Frank could do no wrong. I’m reality, both are shit football managers.

Hopefully this is the season the Ev finally go down and don’t come back up for a few decades. I’m fed up with hearing the “Goodison Is a bear pit” rhetoric our media peddle at every opportunity. Goodison Park is a cesspit of vitriol towards their own players most of the time because it’s full of rabid Scousers. That’s the thing - Anfield is like Old Trafford. Full of day trippers and generally very safe to watch a game of footy these days.

But Goodison is a right ol shithole, proper horrible ground stuck in the 80s, ironically exactly like the club and it’s fanbase. If I hear that “Everton are a huge club” one more time I will scream. They’re not.

Got zero time for the Ev and one of my favourite things in football after Liverpool losing is seeing the Ev get beat.

Pep derby is as bad. Free 6 points for City
Pep derby is so much worse. Arsenal loses all of their games against City.

Everton has kept it competitive a few times and get some draws and even a win at Anfield 2 years ago….

Recent Everton stats vs Liverpool ( before the last one/ when included it becomes 3 losses and 3 draws plus 1 win)…. Arsenal has over10 losses straight in their league games vs City.

And now Araenal’s vs City:

Why is it the Pep derby? Shouldn't it be known as the Lego Pep derby?

Arsenal is City's C team and a place where those that didn't make the cut in the A team go - Arteta, Jesus, Zinchenko etc.

And Lego pep hasn't achieved enough to have a derby called after him, even if it's only notable because he loses it miserably 100% of the times

Makes sense.

Could it be the Gepeto / Pinocchio derby perhaps? The Lego protege who proves time and time again to his creator that he is inferior and basically useless.

Sorry Everton, you aren't the kings of spectacular fails at Anfield anymore.

What are Everton fans thoughts on the fixture? Dread it every season (I know I dread playing Liverpool for the last decade or so) or relish the chance to be a thorn in their side?

The biggest foregone conclusion since Pep entering a barbershop and the barber asking him what style haircut he’d like.

Just give them the 3 points already, what’s the point having this long, drawn out affair where the blues will lie down anyway.

Never known a team that has got battered by Liverpool so many times in recent years. They make Norwich look good. :nervous:
