I think you are right if we were talking about competing for honours. I think when just considering them a side going for a European spot and a good team making progress they have a lot of talent and quality. Sterling, Nkunku and Jackson all have goals in them and then you look at the talent they have in players like Broja, Mudryk ect.

They will be alright, I'm quite confident about it. I wish I wasn't and was predicting them to finish 12th again but they will be much improved and no one will relish going to Stamford Bridge.

Maybe, 90+15 Salah (pen) if they need it. A Taylor/Dipper combo is probably the worst thing that could happen to Chelsea if they're hanging on.

Sterling - seemed past it. Sure he will score a few and maybe has a great season - doubt it though. Pre-season wasn't that great either I think?
Nkunku - out for months it seems
Jackson - good player of course but how he will fare in the EPL from the get go with the burden of being the sole target man? Who will feed him? Enzo is a great player and creative but he has to have a great season because the playmaking players left the ship (Kovacic, Mount).
Broja - comes back from a hefty injury and missed about a year. Looked good before but again - would he be capable of scoring 15+ goals in the league? Doubt it.
Mudryk - don't see it yet. Great prospects but a bit headless chicken so far (from what I saw).

This is just regarding this very season - they're obviously all extremely talented but also very young hence inconsistent. Especially since they only have Sterling as the experienced type up front who is all but in good shape I think and also not the type to lead IMO.
If Chilwell and James stay fit and in form I can see Chelsea doing quite good - if they're as much injured as the seasons before there'll be trouble. So nothing new really. Their back-ups now look very decent on paper but also inexperienced in the EPL so questionable over a longer run.

Oh, then you misunderstood me: it'd be totally suprising to see them out of the top six. I just don't think they can touch the top 1-3 maybe 4 by any means except a lot of top teams have a real stinker season. But let's not pretend going from 12 to 4/5 would be some kind of remarkable achievement - not for Chelsea. (not that you said that)
 
I see the customary overrating of Cjelsea and Liverpo has begun in earnest.
 
A lot of these were correct calls, some were utterly horrendous but it’s genuinely crazy the amount of disallowed goals we’ve had against them recently. These clips were all from the last 4-5 seasons.

 
Hopefully the referees are brave enough to stand up to Klopp this season and stop giving them one ludicrous decision after another.

It would have been more informative if the video had left in the post goal refusal analysis/lines, to see how many were correct calls. Very hard to make from that video.

To be fair by memory almost all of them were correct calls. There were 3 I thought were awful. Lukaku in the cup final, Werner at Anfield and Azpi at the Bridge.

You realize that is intentional, right? The guy who posted the video is a Chelsea fan.

Plus I don't understand what's not normal here. I'd get it if these were all from the same game or even the same season. But a bunch of disallowed goals across multiple seasons? What's strange about that. If anything, the fact that these two have been on a run of 0-0 draws for what seems like forever is the unusual bit.

A lot of them? They were all correct calls!

Mistimes runs, delayed passes against a high line, offsides are always likely to happen.
The only really unlucky one was Havertz and the handball, but again by the letter of the law that was a correct call also.

I haven't seen any of these back but I felt pretty certain Lukaku in the cup final and Werner at Anfield were onside at the time.

Certainly the Lukaku one was very close, but VAR made the call.

He looked onside at the time but due to VVDs body shape (he was turned toward the ball) meant that Lukaku was leaning into an offside position.

Still, would annoy the hell out of me had that been disallowed, such fine margins.

I only saw the second half, believe they were garbage in the first. But from what I saw they were well in the game. Newcastle lacked cutting edge, got unlucky with Almiron shot too, but Liverpool did well with 10 men there.

How come Gordon went off? He looked a threat from the bits I did see. Barnes was dealt with easily by TAA.
 
I think if you match Newcastle's organisation and workrate, their lack of world class players can tell. They have a lot of good players and they're well organised, but still have the likes of Almiron, Joelinton, Gordon, Longstaff etc. Obviously that will change in the next season or two sadly.

My thoughts too. Of course I despise them and they usually are lucky. But not this match. Pretty impressive actually.

Overall though, I think they are on the decline.

Eddie Howe being a moron basically. Got the changes wrong and Newcastle in general just didn't have any killer instinct.

Newcastle should’ve been out of sight, it’s their own fault but fecking hell, the luck they had for the equaliser. The balls played forward and hits Botman on the arse as he’s running back, knows nothing about it and as he turns his heel clips the ball and sends it directly into Núñez’s path for a one on one with the keeper and unlike him slots it in the bottom corner.

Let’s not ruin this thread by mentioning today’s win. This was a great performance post going down to 10 men. Allison was brilliant as usual and for once, Darwin Nunez finished his chances off. Since red cards are becoming more frequent, there are some lessons to be learnt off them.
 
They can be lucky but ya can't call today lucky. It's annoying but they fought for that win. Newcastle's fault for falling off after leading against 10 men.
 
If a United player wasn’t sent off for what TAA did, there’d be a week long discussion, o possibly discussed in parliament, talk sport phone ins would be in melt down.

Down to 10 men after 17th min, but should have been since 6th min. Ref bottled that decision
 
Fantastic result that for Liverpool with ten men. If that had of been us we’d have folded like a pack of cards.
